It’s one thing a horse needing cut or going of soft ground but going on Heavy is a different ball game.
I’ve looked at Rayeni again and he just loves soft/heavy ground.
Oxx will be over the moon with flooding forcast around Kildare there isn’t a hope in hell of this ground not being Heavy by Saturday. so I am with Myles here and I grabbed all the 4/1 I could get.
I have severe doubts now if Meehan will even send Delegator. He’s showed too much toe off good surfaces and might have got away with softish or even soft ground but surely Heavy will have put an end to any chance he had.
Hope to hell I’m right

Rayeni 4/1 looks the wisest choice.
May 20, 2009 at 15:22 #228968Sorry, see my thread for my trends analysis on this race
May 21, 2009 at 18:57 #229225I’ve had an e/w on Recharge at 9’s. His auld maw liked a good auld slog and had an excellent record in testing conditions in good contests. He beat intense focus by 1 length when getting 3 pounds lto, and is capable of fighting for a place in my book.
May 22, 2009 at 11:54 #229396I never thought Rayeni would be up to winning a Guineas ……… a 2 or 3 length defeat of the likes of Lieberman and Gluteus Maximus reads poorly and he kept leaning to his right when winning at Leopardstown.

And very small double with Luminous Eyes who has been deserted by Pat Smullen, Mick Kinane gets the ride, has done all her best on soft.

I still maintain that, on racecourse performance, Mastercraftsman is much more likely to be going on at the end of the race than Delegator, and expect the AOB horses to set the pace approppriately.
May 23, 2009 at 10:46 #229562Agreed RH
I think Delegator will get swamped on this ground. I’d be genuinely surprised if he won.
Mastercraftsman looks the obvious one, but a shock wouldn’t be out of the question – some rag of staying boat might beat the lot of them.
May 23, 2009 at 13:00 #229587I get the impression that people are grasping around in the dark in an effort to find the winner of this difficult to solve, tricky contest.
And no wonder.

Why not just watch the race, like me.

It is not imperative to have a bet or throw your money away.

May 23, 2009 at 14:33 #229603Agreed Himself
Had an eye on Recharge but hes drifted alarmingly this morning
I am a little suprised they are running Delegator. Theres a good long season ahead for top mile performers, so why today on dreadful ground?
If he does win (and i like the horse and hope that he does), then he will demonstrate that adaptability that marks out the very best
But definately not a race to bet on.
May 23, 2009 at 14:36 #229604I’m going to take a small punt on Fergus McIver who looks over priced and has struggled at longer on testing, but may have a turn of fortune over the mile
Good e/w bet IMO……placed on going in small fields.
May 23, 2009 at 15:03 #229613Happy to back Delegator at what looks by far the wrong price. I’d have him more like a 9/4 chance even in taking account of the ground.
May 23, 2009 at 15:19 #229615I’m another one leaving the race alone. Delegator and Mastercraftsman are both very vulnerable to me if I were a bookie I’d be trying to get those two.
Rayeni a tentative selection.
May 23, 2009 at 18:50 #229650What a fantastic performance.
Mastercraftsman had the race set up for him and stormed away there.
May 23, 2009 at 18:55 #229651Wallace, just caught yours, well put, except
Mastercraftsman
is to
the Curragh, what i am to Ante-Post betting! Come on Master took the 3/1
its redemption time! Delegator will be running on empty inside the last 50yds if the ground turns soft, whilst the Master will be powering up the hill
just watch the Master inside the last 100yds at Newmarket, he was just getting going! The stuff of legends!
May 23, 2009 at 18:59 #229652Your last winning bet, as you have now given up.
