Fist
None of your alternatives have routed any group one field (or grp 2 even?) in that style at any stage of their careers. At 12’s compared with 8’s, i do not see them as an alternative at all, least of all Fame and Glory who was simply well beaten in the derby.
I agree with equitrack about Zarakava. As exciting as she was, she certainly hadnt shown any more at this stage of the season
Also Fist, S is judged to be better ("unbeatable") on soft going by her trainer
She will be laid out for the arc now of course, unlike some of the otehrs in the betting
Shes 8/1 not 4s
Arc is a million mles away for the colts too of whom only STS has come close to dominating in such a manner
She doesnt have to be a Zarakava. Virtually no other filly ive seen is
and recent arcs havent all been on soft ground….
It should take a special horse to win the arc of course and cant say that any of those you have listed as alternatives Fist look that way to me….at this stage anyway. but she certainly could be.
Some right rubbish here i think
Man Utd are NOT better off withy 80m and no ronaldo. Hate him or loath him, he is a player who could only seriously be replaced by Messi at the present time
If the biggest club in Norway really aspires to be the very best, this is undoubtably a backward step
I would agree that Spain is a better league in my eyes but sneering by scots who find that young managers prefer Wigan to supposedly great club celtic…is alittle out of place
Anything for Her is a fine french thriller. Just doing rounds now
In the loop was a bit overrated and apart from some good performances (the MP and Tony Soprano) fell short of The Thick of it on TV
A danger with exploiting the market to its limits is that whilst you may continue to attract customers, the occasion becomes dominated by wealthy day trippers with genuine fans alienated
In truth, this has happened at many meetings already. Royal Ascot prime exmple
And it takes the edge of an occasion when it is obvious the audience doesnt have much of a clue/interest in whats going on. Which in turn tones drags down the atmosphere.
Lords cricket is agood example of this. The audience there has become steadily more city/yahoo in recent times. I always seem to be seated in front of someone droning on about their career or oneupmanship holiday destinations rather than the finer points of the game
There is a database of all attendances going back 20 odd years. I had the link but lost it now… Its hidden away in the BHA website i think…
You can search by course/dates and so on. Works very nicely

No no real defence for this and lets hope it doesnt happen again. Paddock watching is a big part of the experience for me and many others
I think thats spot on Davidbrady. Too much was made of how jockey bookings arent that relevant at Ballydoyle but once Murtagh opted for RVW it was still a fair bet that he was the main target.
And that set things up nicely for STS…worked out how i thought
But on the other hand STS looked so much stronger than the others that he would have won regardless imo. I think he idles slightly in front so i am not that concerned about the poximity of the fairly well beaten horses.
She doesnt appear to be a "compact" filly and agree that she won despite the track. I think she could continue to suprise a lot of doubters…
Wasnt the doubt with Rainbow view was whether she would grow and strengthen sufficiently from 2 to 3?
How come you could afford to feed a canary on state handouts?
The connection?
Northerners and jocks….
One lots should stick to digging up coal and the other lot should stop drinking buckets of tonic wine for breakfast
Good question Ricky
I havent been to epsom for a good while now and considered this year until I saw the entry fees…..
£35 is too much. More than Cheltenham and way above Champions day at Newmarket (as an example). Could live with it if it was a course i really liked….but i dont frankly
And Goodwood have bumped up the Glorious prices substantially in recent years. I reckon 25-30% increase in last 3 years. Not good….
Grateful to be told anything??????
Thats madness. Punters are the sports customers every bit as much (if not more economically) than the owners. what business would survive such an attitude? Barely excusable when racing was dominated the market, but it doesnt….
Punters will find other sports if that short sighted view prevaled
and they do….
As for trainers "liking a punt", no doubt many do, but the top guys (which is where taplins books focus is)? Are they really that bothered or even have the time?
Trainers will lie just as football managers do, but its crazy to ignore every last word on the basis that it could be crap….
Can only echo all that has been said…
Hopefully they have broadband in heaven (though hopefully not with Virgin media ..)
His interview after the 1000 guineas was generous, informative and interesting. Given the circumstances, it was a great effort. Nothing to do with a "posh voice"
