douginho wrote…….. just cant see one horse running away with it.

You are probably right….unless Dunguib runs of course!
If he doesn’t run and with a bit of a cloud over Voler La Vadette’s fitness (she might miss The Festival) I’m coming round to Go Native but after seeing Paul Carberry screw up big time "Harchibald" style (yet) again on Muirhead on Tuesday I’ll be keeping my cash in my pocket if he’s on board

I’ve felt all along that he’d end up in The Champion Hurdle, why wait a year with a horse like that? A lot can go wrong in 12 months

Phipip Fenton is going to upset a lot of folk with AP vouchers for The Supreme but Dunguib looks to me the best novice since Golden Cygnet and I’m sure with hindsight Eddie O’Grady wishes he’d run Golden Cygnet in the 1978 Champion Hurdle instead of the novice.

My advice to those who fancied Dunguib for the Supreme should either plunge now at 4-1 with a run for the CH or wait to the day and hammer the bookies

He’s still top of my list for Cheltenham wherever he runs.
I always have a (big) EW Yankee at Cheltenham as my major bet of the season, so far I’ve three bankers
    1. Dunguib
    2. Garde Champetre
    3. Denman

……any suggestions for the fourth? Big Bucks is too short a price

Sir Harry…………looks like we’ll have to wait till later in the season or even next year to find out.
Go Native already had two(winning) runs not a month either side of the defeat by VLV and Noel Meade says Go Native goes well fresh so I’ll wait and see.
However I rather doubt if either would cope with Dunguib if he showed up

    GRASSHOPPER WROTE

The race to which you refer was run at a crawl, CS, and they only started racing in the last three furlongs.

    AGREED

Cousin Vinny was only about a further neck back,

    ACTUALLY 2 & 1/2 LENGHTS

which is a much better indicator as to the value of the form

    FAIR COMMENT

I was merely trying to find an alternative to the two obvious contenders :>)

Quevega hasn’t shown that much the UK, three good runs impressive win over United at last years Festival, but he’s no world beater, beat Sesenta, who has a much better record on the flat that over hurdles, best run would be 3rd to Solwit. Her early French form, whilst the win to run ratio looks good on paper, wasn’t in that high a grade, well below the grade of Jumbo Rio’s French excursions for instance. Hammered in a decent French hurdle on her last run in may, hammered by Won In The Dark in Ireland. I’d say her current odds are crazy (Mullins factor) Looks the one horse I’d most be wanting to lay at The Festival if I layed

I’ve just spent an hour or two going through past form, looks like the obvious pair are Solwhit or Sublimity but Donnas Palm is a very interesting alternative.
Just over a year ago he was rated above Go Native by both Noel Meade and Paul Carberry before his jumping fell to pieces.
This would appear to be corrected judging by his runs this season. If he’s judged on all but his last run in 2008 and his form this season he’s a serious contender for any Grade 1 hurdle. Check the form of his neck defeat by Hurricane Fly who (if I recall the race correctly) was all out to win.

i appreciate that there is a chance Garde Champetre will take to the Aintree fences, but theres an even bigger chance that he wont. Its just the Banks courses are so, so unique, I dont think that Garde Champetre will be fooled by Aintree!! After sailing over 3 or 4 fences, he’ll start to think, is this it??? He needs to be kept interested, and not even Aintree is interesting enough for the lunatic that is Garde Champetre!!!!

According to the trainer it’s the jockey not The Banks that have brought Garde Champetre back to his form of old….

    Enda Bolger said

"I’ve been saying it all along but I think she (Nina Carberry) is probably the best rider I’ve ever seen, she’s tremendous.
Without a doubt she has been the making of that horse (Garde Champetre)."

I can’t explain his Irish National running, VERY disappointing and personally rather expensive…. still, everyone has an off day once in a while …. but it seems to me that Aintree would be ideal for the horse.

    …..that was expensive!!!
Ran into a right tartan in UP OU THAT now installed as new favourite for The Festival Bumper. After the race even Willie Mullins even sounded surprised at the manner of his win , Henry De Bromhead expected great things of his horse as the betting showed
Looks like the Mullins horses are getting back on track too

Naas off yesterday, selections probably stand for Tuesday
Had first bet for 2010 yesterday a mere 5 points EW on The Minack @ 3-1 Yesterday to pass some time away as much as anything …we are still snowed in.
The race looked a two horse affair, and the favourite was a chucker, he did it again at the second last…..profit on NH season now a healthy 1077 points
Missed the early price (9-4) on Romanesco this morning while taking the dog for her walk, b*gger!!!!
Reluctantly took the 6-4 now best price on offer (Ladbrokes Best Odds guaranteed) to 77 points…maybe more that I should considering the weather but he looks a really good thing

    last suspect
    ASKED
Does Anyone know if a Novice gets a weight allowance in the champion hurdle? Just wondering if that would tempt Dungib or Menorah to take their chance?
    thanks

No allowance for novices but mares get 7lbs which should persuade connections of Voler Le Vadette to run in the Cham Hurdle rather than the mares race. She’d only be 2 lbs worse off with Go Native for giving him a 13 lengths thrashing

Mad Max…..what a lovely horse but he doesn’t look like a two miler to me.
Nicky Henderson may have a problem keeping all his owners happy while placing his novice chasers to their best advantage
The Arkle looks a cut and dried Irish 1-2-3 unless Sizing Europe goes for the Champion Chase (I would if he were mine) or Capt Cee Bee hits the deck again, lets hope not although I can’t see him beat Sizing Europe who shouldn’t have given Osana as much respect as he did last time out. He was always going to be too good for Osana and Andrew Lynch didn’t need to rush SE up to keep tabs on Osana who probably went off too fast anyway, I can’t see him make that mistake again

    Martin,

I’ve not slated Long Run’s record, 9 wins 13 starts, not quite as good as Pandorama 8 wins 9 starts but very good.
I just can’t see him get round Cheltenham fault free against the likely field and even if he does he’s got to see out the uphill finish against some dour battlers.
Knockara Beau isn’t strictly held by Weird Al, on the bare the form should be reversed at the RSA weights.

Not to forget that Long Run’s owners son WILL be on board

Good luck with your bet though as I probably will give the race a miss betting wise as I can’t narrow it down below three or four with any confidence and it’s not been the kindest race to me over the years (Denman apart) Nick Dundee was one of my biggest ever Festival losers
