Blue Bajan declared for novice hurdle, should win. Harchibald will definitely be primed for the Christmas hurdle, as he was for the fighting fifth!
Great site, with lots of good natured friendly debate

Even though I’ve not long joined, it has been enjoyable reading everyones opinions on racing issues. It’s amazing how we can all watch the same things, but everyone has varying views, which makes for good debate!
Merry Xmas

Jonjo will just have to aim his second string at the stayers now : Wichita Lineman

Blue Brazil, you have just answered a question that has plagued me for years!

… Seeing it now, the Dundee Shuffle is every bit the nonsense bet I imagined it to be! I’m surprised the bookmakers don’t publicise it more!

This topic brought that bet back into my head after more than 30 years, never heard it mentioned since and I think that’s the one and only time I’ve done that bet thanks to my old Dad!
Don’t think it can compete with a Lucky 15

Some of the posts on this topic certainly brighten up a nightshift

I tend to do the mugs bet of L15/31/63 just because I enjoy the thought of getting all the selections up! Of coures if I strongly fancy one, I bet it single as well.
This got me thinking about bets from years ago that my Dad used to mention. Remember being at school and picking 4 horses and he put them in a bet called a Dundee Shuffle and got quite a return compared to the amount staked. Never knew how the bet worked until tonight!
DUNDEE SHUFFLE
4 selections combined in 4 full stake Singles Any to Come a half stake Trixie on the other three, 6 half stake Doubles Any to Come a full stake Double on the other two, 4 half stake Trebles and each way half stake Accumulator. (16 bets, 4 at full stake and 12 at half stake, e.g. 4 x 50p + 12 x 25p = £5 stake).
Some obscure bets here from days gone by.
Even without the odds on KS drifting, you can bet both just now and make a profit if either of them win, so it’s not that crazy! Don’t think they would take those size of bets though

Thanks for that rh.
Anyone know the reason why the ratings guy gave an initial RPR of 175 to Denman and has now amended it to 180?
It would be great to see Kauto Star run on Saturday and show his versatility that only exceptional horses have. To own or train a horse like him must be amazing, when you can run him over 2m or 3m 2f. It didn’t do KS any harm last year running in both the TC and KG. If the gap between the 2 races was the same as last year, I think they would run him, but it’s only 18 days compared to 24 days last year and I think that’s what’s concerning them.
It will just be great to get, Kauto Star, Denman and Exotic Dancer all fit and well to the GC in March. A clear round from all 3 on decent ground will be something to savour

I’d price up
11/10 Kauto Star
7/2 Exotic Dancer
5 DenmanThe rest name your price, if one of those three doesn’t win I’ll be absolutely amazed.
If something happened to Kauto (god willing it won’t) then look at Exotic Dancer’s record he’s the obvious alternative. Denman is the new kid on the block.
The rest are either levels below or won’t stay (in the case of My Way De Solzen).
Think at 5/1 you would get plenty of interest about a horse that has a decent chance of winning and should not be out of the first 3 barring accidents, so 5/4 a place gives you a small profit betting ew.
Denman got an RPR of 175 for today, KS has a best RPR of 184.
The Racing Post boys must have been keen to get their ratings out ASAP, they’ve given Denman an RPR of 175 for todays performance, which is 10 up on his best rating prior to today. Kauto Star has a best RPR rating of 184.
I’ll still be backing Kauto Star, and think Ruby will definitely choose KS to ride. Denman is now the enemy
he heWould you still bet KS if Ruby chooses Denman? Just interested, as I would have to go with what Ruby chooses!
Last week Exotic Dancer fans were still hoping he could win a GC if the ground came up soft, so that it would blunt the speed of Kauto Star and make it a stamina test. Now if it does come up testing in March, ED has another mighty task on his hands because those conditions will suit Denman admirably. Looks like PN holds all the aces!
Outstanding performance of jumping and galloping from Denman, a joy to watch

He’s one of my favourites, but even I thought he had too much on his plate first time out, with that weight on testing ground. They said he would improve with the run and if that’s the case it’s going to be a great Gold Cup next March!
Imagine having to ride Ruby’s cast off in the GC
