After watching Denman winning today, I thought it was an exceptional performance from the horse carrying top weight on that ground first time out and it was said he would come on for a run, so if he had been fully wound up, how much would he have won by?

It’s reported that BHB handicapper Phil Smith is looking at moving Denman to a rating in the mid to high 170’s after his performance today. If so he will be right on the tail of KS, who has a rating of 179.

I know this is impossible to answer, but just to gauge peoples opinions, what do you think KS would have done to the Hennessey field if he had ran off a rating of 161 today?

I would choose Denman over KS for the simple reason that a Jumper must be able to do just that. I know that KS doesn’t fall very much-Once at Exeter?- but one of the reasons that i adored Best Mate so much was because you just knew that he wouldn’t let you down in the jumping stakes.KS is always heart-in-mouth waiting for the mistake.

It’s also the reason that i could not take to Moscow Flyer.

Kauto would’ve eaten the field alive off 161 much as Denman did.

The Racing Post boys must have been keen to get their ratings out ASAP, they’ve given Denman an RPR of 175 for todays performance, which is 10 up on his best rating prior to today. Kauto Star has a best RPR rating of 184.

I would seriously doubt that there is only 4lbs between them but, if there were, Kauto would be at least a 4lb lesser horse in today’s conditions which would give Denman the edge imo.
But that’s only supposition – not reality! 8)

Horse wins a Mickey Mouse handicap and you are comparing him to one of the best horses seen on a track for years.

If Kauto was in a 4 horse race at the same weights as yesterday John Quinn for one wouldn’t even bother sending his……I don’t think any of them would turn out to be honest……He could fall and get back up and still beat that lot.

It would put Monet garden in there set to give the second 5 lbs he would be a racing certainty without Kauto in the race……..and he only beat kauto because he was only half fit.
