2.30 US Ranger
3.05 Flashy Wings
3.45 Dylan Thomas
the rest are just for watching for me, havnt had time to study the handicaps properly and too many unknowns with the 2 yr olds for me to get involved.
Good luck to all
im prepared to give Dylan thomas another shot mainly on the back of his performance against ouija board in the irish champion who won this last year.
10f might be but the eclipse will definitly be too soon, had 3 hard races and needs a break before a campaign taking in somthing like the irish champion if hes going to step up.
Quote: from cormack15 on 9:32 pm on June 19, 2007[br]I thought George ran an encouraging race on his reappearance. Ran on gamely enough.
Now that the ringrust has gone he’ll be a real force and today won’t have been ‘the’ day.
agreed
you may remember at goodwood last year he was expected to hose up on his return. he didnt because he stood in te stalls after every1 else set off then pulled hard and then closed at the end. now that was a group 2 not a group 1 ok but one of the horses that beat him reopposed and librettist was supposedly superior to cadarak. what beat George that day was not the other horses it was himself. he didnt need it physically he needed it mentally.
same goes with 2day it was is first race of the campaign and imo he needed it mentally. i didnt mean physical prep i meant it was the next part of his reintroduction to racing, hes only been training 3 months, some of that in isolation so there was no time for a lower grade prep race. yes ideally he shouldve won it but he wasnt that far away and i think he might well do next time. so no it wasnt without substance it was just different to your opinion.
team tactics? the other ballydoyle horses might have ensured a good gallop but librettist was never in it from coming off the bend that day, was beaten by other godolphin runner. George Washington is head and shoulders above the rest of the field today on his best form. to suggest he ran to form today is rubbish.
with all due respect to the winner this was a shocking excuse for a group 1 over a mile imo. and yet GW nearly won it which is why i say it was a stepping stone to something bigger. coolmore may have been hoping he would win but in reality this takes nothing from his value as a stallion should his fertility improve and may well have put him back in the racing mood, i felt he was starting to at the end. imo no amount of home work could have got him mentally right.
just my opinion, i kno where my money will be next time.
i think it answered a couple of things, GW still has talent and GW still does whatever GW feels like doing!
on the back of that i would back him next time out, this was never his ultimate goal and i (just) managed to stop myself backing him last minute.
imo this was all part of the big picture to get him used to the racecourse again (did you see how much he was pulling) just like goodwood last year.
you can pick holes in his form all you want but when you look at how he travelled and then picked up instantly in the QEII it seems to me that was the warm up for a big one, he was going again at the end!
difference between this and the french 2000 being here there were only 8 runners, if you have to hold the horse up because thats what it needs then sometimes your going to get stuck in running, i think sometimes JS gets some slightly unfair criticism. form does look fairly tight i have to say for the winner.
I know the Curragh is right handed and if you watch it he hung there too, was far less impressive than newmarket win.
Excellent art shouldve won the french guineas and confirmed it today and astronomer royal confirmed over creachadoir thats why i say it looks solid.
Duke of Marmalade was entitled to improve after being injured most of last year.
i don’t think you can blame the jockey, he came from last to 1st at newmarket and nobody mentioned the ride he was given there. plus the winner was settled even further back and came through nicely. just a combination of maybe one big race too many and maybe would be better left handed. french 2000 form looks pretty good though.
2.30 O’Brien 1st
3.45 O’Brien 1st, 2nd, 3rd
not a bad start to the week for the supposed underperforming ballydoyle master.
gotta say im now more tempted by George!!!
he hung in ireland and i think the bends got a lot to do with that, coming round the inside rail he hangs left when he switches stride, at newmarket he had the rail and a straight track.
I think the rebel may have to take this one on from the front if he wants to run the finish out of dutch art cos i dont see anyone else doing it. problem is that kind of sets it up for the O’brien horses. I think Cockney Rebel is the best horse in the race, i just think he’ll struggle if its run how i think it will be. we shall see…
yeh he is, i dont think he was beaten by the draw though, miss andretti had so much in hand, even more than the official distance will read. I had her to win and dandy man for a place, wish id put the forecast on now!!
I will admit that I am not Tom Segals greatest fan. However, his saturday morning tipping does offer a unique opportunity for exchange punters. The reason being you can almost guarantee whatever he tips up will go off quite a bit shorter than it is first thing saturday.
Therefore if your really on the ball u back it first thing, wait for the price to contract and lay off the stake and a bit extra. guaranteed profit!!
