Thought we might get to see a few hopefuls tomorrow that might set the betting alight a little for the classics next year.

In the 1.45 at Newmarket the Rossdales Maiden Fillies:
SIZZLING looks a worthy favourite, she would have finished much closer to stable companion Happily in her maiden at the Curragh had she not been slowly away and unlucky in running. She was in 6th place one furlong from home and asked to go for a gap that closed in front of her, she then had to be switched to the outside where she made good progress to finish 3rd. This race was a stepping stone for Ballydoyle so expect a good run from this filly tomorrow.
Also in the same race Jeremy Noseda has a quality newcomer by War Front – Naples Bay (Giant’s Causeway)
QUARGENT – costing 585,000 Dollars this filly has size and scope and will stay the 7 furlongs.

In the Superlative Stakes I know Gustav Klimt is going to be all the rage so am going to oppose him for a better price of 6/1 for…
FINNISTON FARM Helmet – Logic (Slip Anchor)
    He looks an exciting prospect.
In his Maiden he beat the Queen’s popular Frankel/Memory colt Learn By Heart by 2 and a quarter lengths and he was running on at the finish.

First time I have had to study up my two year olds properly Darren & Steve and hope they will return a small profit at Newmarket tomorrow…good luck Jac :rose:

What about that for a debut by the Pentagon, sensational.

It was a second run for that colt but yes, very striking. Bred for 1m 4f.

Immediately followed by that heart-stopping performance by Gustav Klimt. He had no right to win that race, checked not once but twice, and having to go widest of all and still get up.

We’re on a good ‘un lads, exciting times ahead for patrons of Gustav.

Yes apologies, I confused him with Mendelssohn who also ran.

More to come from Sizzling who didn’t impress in the paddock today, she was the smallest filly in the field and Quargent who was one of the biggest looked like she needed the race.
Finniston Farm is a good looking 2yo but no match for Gustav Klimt who saved the day for Ryan Moore today after meeting all sorts of trouble. Lovely looking 2yo and definitely progressing in the right direction…well done to all who backed him today..Jac :rose:

Sizzling didn’t handle the undulations, she was all over the place.

Very nice debut performance today at the Curragh from Magical, full sister to Rhododendron. She ran on under a hands and heels ride from Ryan Moore to finish a close up second to a more experienced filly.

There is a Godolphin colt I have been waiting to see entered up this weekend.

Dubhe is trained by Charlie Appleby and that alone is interesting with the number of debutantes he has had winning this season.

Dubhe is by Dubawi, out of the John Gosden Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens, who spanked the consistent bridesmaid Sirocco Star at the Curragh. Entered in the National Stakes and next year’s Derby, Dubhe might be worth keeping an eye on this week.

Dubhe is entered at both Haydock and Newbury, both at 7F.

Dubhe is a baddie in the Shin Megami Tensei series of computer games and named after a famously bright star, probably a reference to mother Great Heavens.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Following on from their last runs at Newmarket two really nice 2yo fillies running today and ONE that could have classic potential.

    1.40 Ascot…INDICIA (Bated Breath – Indication (Sadler’s Wells))
Owned by Khaled Abdulla and a beautiful looking filly, Indicia ran 2nd to the very useful Charlie Appleby trained Spring Cosmos last time out with Anna Nerium in 3rd place, running a little green in her first race she had been slowly away and kept on nicely at the finish. If she wins today she has potential to be a player in the Classics next year.

2.20 Thirsk… JULIET CAPULET (Dark Angel-Capulet Montaque (Camacho))
Came up against top class fillies in Charlie Appleby’s Poetic Charm and Aiden O’Brien’s Sizzling last time out and should take all the beating today.

Have seen both these fillies in the flesh at Newmarket and can at least guarantee that they both looked fit and ready to run to best of their ability, a nice little double if it comes off today and good future prospects for both. :good: Jac

Mythical magic impressed me today. A lovely looking horse and think he’d be much better on better ground.

looking forward to goodwood with all the two year old races. fingers crossed that expert eye is as special as he looked on his debut.

Like the look of Mythical Magic too Judge. :good:
Indicia disappointing today but still has potential to pick up a good race.
Juliet Capulet very impressive and progressing, so more to come from her.

Trip I like the look of the Bolger filly in the maiden tomorrow. But she has tough opposition with Ballet Shoes and the filly who finished behind Easter Lily last time out. Plus countless other O’Brien fillies who could be anything.

But this new kid in town impressed me so much I will probably back her. Got a huge stride.

O’Brien is so dominant now that it’s scary taking him on. Look at his two year old fillies, September, Clemmie, Happily, and countless others.

I wonder how long ballydoyle and O’Brien will stay dominant for. You’d think it would work in cycles but they don’t seem chained to the normal rules. Maybe another five, ten years of dominance?

    @Judge
I really like your selection there judge New To Town by New Approach who was bred by Jim Bolger so he knows what it takes to get this filly into the winners circle. He has taken his time with her whereas a lot of the other runners in her last race have run 4 or 5 times since May and she had some useful future winners behind her in the form of Rostropovich and Berkeley Square.

Wasn’t impressed with the run of Ballet Shoes, but she could have been looked after/fitness run, difficult to know until we see her tomorrow.

However worth sticking with your choice judge and good luck. :good: Jac
