Don’t really have time to explain my bets for the Cyrragh today, so I’ll do that when after they’ve won

Recharge & Profound Beauty €10 win double @ 4/5 and 5/6 respectively.
€10 e/w on Chinese White @ 10/3.
+ €171.53
June 27, 2010 at 13:10 #303365Mrs CS may have saved me money on Profound Beauty but she talked me out of Chinese White when I told her the mare was in foal, quoting her own pregnacy as evidence of loss of pace
Good shout "horsesmouth" really nice to see her bow out at the top.
June 27, 2010 at 13:16 #303367Yeah, a great way to retire. DKW couldn’t have wished for any more.
€20 place on Benbaun @ 6/5
+ €151.53
June 27, 2010 at 13:17 #303368Returns from Chinese White = €68
+ €219.53
June 27, 2010 at 13:21 #303369Well, good ole Benbaun ran no sort of race, perhaps he’s winding down at the end of a great career.
June 27, 2010 at 14:13 #303375Samuel Morse looked a smart prospect when winning at the Curragh on his penultimate run, before a decent effort in the Coventry. €10 win @ 7/2.
+ €209.53
June 27, 2010 at 14:20 #303376Done right on the line
, "thems the breaks" as they say
June 27, 2010 at 14:36 #303377Duff has dropped to a rating of 107, and with JP O’Brien’s handy 7lb claim he could well take a hand in the finish. €5 e/w @ 16/1.
+ 199.53
June 27, 2010 at 15:58 #303389Today’s Irish Derby is quite an open affair. Cape Blanco is the choice of Johnny Murtagh, so must be showing good things at home. He hacked up in the Dante, and while he dissapointed in the French Derby, it may pay to forgive that run. €10 e/w @ 3/1.
+ €179.53
June 27, 2010 at 16:25 #303402I’ll stick with Gimli’s Rock in the concluding event at the Curragh, just missed the 7/1 though
€5 e/w @ 11/2.+ €63.75 for Cape Blanco
+ €233.28
June 28, 2010 at 10:57 #303578Nice going with Cape Blanco but do you thing he can beat Profound Beauty or Harbinger in the KG? I don’t.
June 28, 2010 at 12:10 #303586Well done yourself, see you won a nice bit on him
Personally, I was more impressed with Cape Blanco’s win in the Dante than yesterday’s effort. I know that wasn’t the real Workforce that day but he won with plenty in hand and showed bags of speed. Yesterday, over an extra 2 furlongs, Murtagh didn’t really go for him until late in the race. The whip’s were up on Mida’s Touch and Monterosso yet Murtagh wasjust cajoling Cape Blanco along, seemingly trying to conserve energy. In the end he won quite nicely going away from Mida’s Touch, but I can’t help but feel a drop back to 10f will suit better.Workforce looked a transformed horse in the Derby, and if he reproduces that effort he’ll be hard to topple. Harbinger was very impressive in the Derby and looks the pick of the older horses. Profound Beauty was brilliant when defeating against Age Of Aquarius, and on that form she should take a hand in the finish. I know your a massive fan, but do you think she could get outpaced, especially on quick ground?
June 28, 2010 at 12:14 #303587Gimli’s Rock came out on the wrong side of some barging coming into the straight at the Curraghh yesterday. Ye must have lost 3 or 4 lengths. He was never going to beat the winner, who in hindsight was thrown in. However, if he’d got a clear run he’d have got second by alot more than a short head, so he’s definitely one to keep on the right side of.

Unfortunately I had more on Cape Blanco in The French Derby than I did yesterday.
I don’t think this years three year olds are any better than average, The Epsom Derby was a very strange race and despite the time I tend to take the result of races where the pacemaker is left to make his own way home with a pinch of salt. Great ride on the day on the runner up though but IMO he’s shown his true level in the two races since which also devalues the Epsom form somewhat.
The likely ground in The KG is a big worry for the mare and I think she’ll need everything to go right on the day but she won’t be let down from the saddle, it wouldn’t suprise me if she tried to make it all but I’d leave that to the experts Weld/Smullen!
I don’t think I’ve seen Pat Smullen make a single mistake all season, he’s right at the top of his game.
At the odds the mare is far better value than Harbinger and I can’t really see past these two.June 28, 2010 at 19:46 #303652Rock And Roll Kid was supposedly a "good thing" at the Curragh yesterday. Luckily I didn’t invest but he ran a very good race to be beaten just 3 or 4 lengths in a blanket finish. Could be Galway bound once more!
June 28, 2010 at 20:03 #303655Willie Mullin’s Wee Giant is interesting in the finale at Sligo tomorrow evening. Formerly trained by Kevin Ryan, this is his first outing for Mullins. I’m sure we’re all aware of the improvement Mullins is able get out of horses that have raced at other stables previously, and Pat Smullen would hardly ride a no-hoper. He’s currently the 3rd fav on Betfair and he’s one to keep an eye on tomorrow.
June 28, 2010 at 20:25 #303663It’s interesting to note that the form of Mawatheeq’s first run last season is similar to that of this season’s debut in that it reads as a duck egg! 8/1 for the Eclipse is about right, I can’t see him out of the 3
