It’s about time I started a thread for my notes and record of bets. I’ll be considering flat, NH, and some ante-post races. Who knows, maybe by the end of this his heighness will knight me

The first horse I’d like to mention is Age Of Aquarius in the Ascot Gold Cup. I’m not alone on here in thinking there’s a big race in this fella, and the stayers division looks wide open. He finished 5 lengths ahead of Kite Wood in last year’s Epsom Derby and I see no reason to believe he can’t beat him again. Manifest is also a danger but something tells me that Godolphin rate Kite Wood as a better animal. He’s a very unexposed sort. I’ve had €10 on Age Of Aquarius with Paddy Power @ 5/1.

Ladbrokes have opened a St.Leger market and value can be had. After yesterdays Derby Frankie Detorri said Rewilding will make up into a nice Leger horse. He’s a big, backward sort who didn’t seem to handle Epsom overly well, and only got motoring late in the day. He was the one to take out of the race imo (apart from the winner obviously  ). Frankie knows what it takes to win a Derby and to me this lad has bags more potential than the likes of Kite Wood and Manifest who were 2nd and 1st respectively for their outfit last year. It’s hard to know what’s going to be running at this stage but Mida’s Touch is one I presume is Leger bound as he does nothing but stay. Rewilding has bags more class, and Planteur did the form no harm when 2nd in todays race in France. He’s available at 4/1 and that’s well worth a look.

    – €10

Just having a glance at Royal Ascot an interesting entry in theGolden Jubilee is Misheer. Course form is important at Ascot and Misheer beat all bar the American filly who had a rocket up her rear end, Jealous Again. She ran a decent race on her seasonal return when she pulled far too hard before fading towards the climax of the race. In the 1000 Guineas she went like a bat out of hell, as keen a horse as you’ll see, before inevitably fading to finish last. Clive Brittain will need to have worked hard on settling her, as I’m sure he will have, if she’s to be competitive here. Yet the drop in trip combined with a settled Misheer and the 50/1 on offer is too big! Clive can do it!!

Good luck thm,i like to read a bit of reasoning behind peoples selections, apart from Corm who appears to use the old strategy of pin and blindfold!.As you can see from my threads, you are opening yourself up big time, but unlike some on here you have the ability to succeed!

Thanks Gord. Having had a very decent run over the past couple of months I expect my luck will stall quicker than a Lada! :?

Only one way to find out!

A horse that catches the eye on the Listowel card tomorrow is Hoopy in the 3m handicap hurdle. The Gordon Elliot inmate is rated just 102 over the samller obstacles and it’s interesting that he wears cheek pieces for the first time tomorrow. The assistance of one Paul Carberry is no harm either.

€5 e/w on Hoopy @ 11/1, and also Rewilding for the St.Leger €10 win @ 4/1. I honestly believe that horse could go off 7/4 come the day.

    – €30

Hoopy ran in snatches before fading into a poor 8th. I’m convinced there’s a decent race in him though. He’ll come on for that by the looks of it.

Colin Bowe’s mare in the bumper, Lively Lass, looks head and shoulders above the opposition in the bumper. That’s not always the case in these races with many unexposed sorts competing, but the 7/4 available looks generous. A winner of two points and a good winner at Wexford recently, the step up to 2m 4f should bring out more improvement. Colin Bowe is a very good trainer who’s farmed point to points in recent years, and looks to be going places. Runs in the Voler La Vedette colours, interestingly. I’ve had €10 win @ 7/4.

    – €40

Very poo run from the mare there, jockey never looked happy but that’s racing. Atleast it was local man Mikey Fogarty who steered home the winner so that’s some consolation!

A poor start to the thread but it’s early days! The racing tomorrow looks poor so I’m not going to bother studying it in depth :?

A horse that looks a nice price for Royal Ascot is Makfi. 5/2 to beat horses he’s beaten already as well as Steinbeck. I know Canford Cliffs seemes to have improved alot since the Guineas, but Makfi was very impressive in that race and until I see Canford Cliffs beat him I won’t believe he’s a better horse. Steinbeck is a horse who looks to have massive potential, and his run in the Irish 2000 was highly promising, but Aidan O’Brien’s horses don’t seem to be firing on all cylinders and he’ll need to be on top of his game for this. Makfi should be favourite as far as I’m concerned.

A horse to take out of yesterday’s Listowel card is Faltering Fullback. He was not unfancied before pulling up in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham. This was his first run since, and he travelled well before getting tired in the straight. He is rated just 130 over fences compared to the same rating over hurdles, and perhaps the Galway Plate is a longterm target.

A horse who could put a spanner in Age Of Aquarius’s works is Sir Michael Stoute’s Ask. He is the class horse in the race and if he runs he’ll be a tough nut to crack. Stoute has issued a warning that he won’t be confirmed until the weekend but if he is I will take action!!

All the 5/2 is nearly gone but I’ve got on at that price with Powers, €10 win.

The 2m 4f novice chase at Listowel tomorrow looks a match between Warcraft and Wickham Street. They can’t be split on Betfair at the moment, but given Warcraft’s excellent effort behind Tawnies last time out my guess is he’ll be fav. However, I think Wickham Street can take this. He broke his duck over fences at the end of April with a comfortable success. The key with this horse is he needs good ground. He has 3 career victorys, all on ground officially described as "Good". They’re the only times he’s rtan on such a sound surface. Hopefully the recent rain won’t have had too much of an effect on the going. I think Warcraft may be undone by the trip, which could well be an insufficient test of stamina.

Having a look at the Leopardstown card for tomorrow, Together should win the first. She was favourite on her previous run, her debut, so I’m ppresuming she must have been showing something at home. Having come off the bridle early, she wasn’t given too hard a time by Johnny Murtagh to finish a staying on third. Of course, a market check will be in order as some of the big guns have fillies making their debuts.

The Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes is a hot contest, where value can be found in both Distinctive and Atasari. I think both may have been overlooked judging on Betfair proces atm, and either would appear to hold decent chances.

In the last, Dermot Weld’s Welcome Addition catches the eye. She ran a promising race on debut and she shaped as if an extra 2f will hold no fears.

The filly in the first is too short at 4/6, considering the unknown quantities from the Prendergast and Bolger yards.

    I’ve had €5 e/w on Atasari at 7/1.

In the last there’s alot of money for Oxx’s filly so I’ve covered a €10 win bet on Welcome Addition @ 3/1 with a €5 win bet on Zarebiya @ 5/2.

I’ve also had €5 win on Wickham Street @11/10 at Clonmel in what looks a match race.

    – €80

Seemingly Gunner Kelly is fancied in the bumper at Clonmel. I know JP Magnier is riding but they usually don’t have bad horses! Couldn’t help myself having €10 win @ 5/2. The thread isn’t going so well! :?

Jumping was the name of the game there as Warcraft won the novice chase, must have gained half a length on Wickham Street at every fence, who couldn’t even finish 2nd in the end.
