Gord: Did you see GMOOHs half sister hose up on her bumper today for Jessie Harrington, awesome price
November 2, 2014 at 12:13 #494298Some of us on here are sitting on Ante-Post vouchers others can only dream about. That dream continues today at Carlisle in a race where the mighty
Exotic Dancer
got beat 8 years ago before having the season of his life, had it not been for
Kauto star
,he’d have won 3 Gold cups at Cheltenham and a King george that very season!
And thats having been beaten in this very graduation chase at Carlisle this afternoon, worse still it was a 3 horse race and the winner was trained by Nicky Richards…..Can you see there’s a pattern forming here?Holywell
only needs to jump round today for me to be happy, his whole season is geared to one race and thats the Cheltenham Gold cup, between now and then if his jumping improves then thats all that needs too as this fellow has Champion written all over him.Whats frightening is the rate of his improvement and if Jonjo has him in good order today he’ll still beat this field,5/2 isn’t going to make us rich so I’m happy for a watching brief today just to shake off those jumping cobwebs. What this fellow has that the mighty ‘Exotic Dancer’ didn’t have was the will to win,’Exotic’ was to Ballet dancing what ‘Holywell’ is to Lead mining.
Fingers crossed the dream continues.November 2, 2014 at 17:20 #494335Some of us on here are sitting on Ante-Post vouchers others can only dream about. That dream continues today at Carlisle in a race where the mighty

Fingers crossed the dream continues.A decent enough start for Holywell and in the circumstances I’d probably have left him unchanged in the betting for the Gold Cup but some have pushed him out to 14/1.
I can’t remember a more open Gold Cup and Siviniaco Conti didn’t do much to enhance his claims in the Charlie Hall. 11/1 the field tells its own story and it’s the horse who arrives in top form on the day that will be the key factor, rather than these early season pipe-openers.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

You can see the wood from the trees Steve I’ll give you that but those who interpret form literally will be dissapointed if they think
Many Clouds
will beat
Holywell
in the Gold cup after beating Jonjos horse decisively today.Go back a year ago today and you will see virtually the same result in the beginners chase on this card and yet come Aintree
Holywell
destroyed the Trevor Hemmings horse.Bookmakers Totesport and BetFred have both taken my money at 14/1 after todays pipe-opener
November 9, 2014 at 10:29 #494806The first of my Ante-Post wagers hopefully makes it to Cheltenham next week for a fav race of mine, the Paddy Power Gold Cup.I really hoped
Taquin de Seuil
was being targeted for this but I see a 3m route being plan A…..at the moment so the obvious horse is Alan Kings
Uxizandre
,I took the 17’s on the machine before his rather tame effort at Aintree and expect a far bigger show come Saturday. 12/1 is still freely available and to 4 places,he’s still the horse to beat purely on his Jewson run last year.Talking of Alan King a trainer I dont really like I have to say his Hennessey horse
Smad Place
10/1 absolutely jumps off the page to me,there’s hints of
One Man
about this fellow and when you think his stablemate
Walkon
is only rated 4lb inferior off 151 you have to say that ‘Smad Place’ is well weighted off 155.It still beggars belief that the RSA fav of 1994
One Man
got in a Hennessey off a mark of 135,thats 20lb below ‘Smad Place’!!….Who says handicapping has changed the face of racing in recent times, most notably on the flat eh?
November 15, 2014 at 14:25 #495301TAPK’s gloves are off today, when my backs to the wall I’m more dangerous than ‘Danger Mouse’ and I’ve hammered the 10/1 about the class horse
Oscar whisky
winning the Paddy Power.Having witnessed ‘Sam Winner’ hump top weight around 3m3f I’m even more confident ‘Oscar’ wont fail.I just hope Barry switches him off and gets him popping as history tells you top weights excel in this.
November 15, 2014 at 14:27 #495303Good luck Gord.
I’m on each way at 10’s, no chance him not finishing in the 5.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 15, 2014 at 14:41 #495306Place money will do, a good run considering it’s his first outing and off top weight, went around the houses aswell, will come on a lot for that.

Not Barrys greatest rides in either the last 2 races Nath but ‘Oscar’ proved he was the best horse in the race!
November 16, 2014 at 10:04 #495409Terribly sad news that Dessie Hughes has died – RIP awesome trainer

Agreed Gary,lets hope
The Tullow Tank
wins a Novice chase at the festival come March, the Irish will raise the roof.
Lyreen Legend
still has a Grade 1 in him too, only a 7yo with bits of top class form.
November 16, 2014 at 15:01 #495460Cheek pieces = win win win
Uxizandre given a great ride and what an awesome round of jumping
November 17, 2014 at 12:16 #495560Gord any horses this week you think make a impact at festival in March.
And what you think of current market for derby here my thoughts
SIR ISAAC NEWTON win it he will this horse has a profile like
WONDER OF WONDERS being a well bred 2yo had one start was good 2nd the 3rd was miles back.Compare that debut run with other top 2yos from yard can say it was best debut peformance. Also Ladbrokes only 14s while others are 20.When Sir wins 3yo maiden be single figures by lads then whatever trail he goes for be challenge for fav at Epsom.Current fav JFK won same race as my AUSTRALIA but he no AUSTRALIA and horse he beat is no FREE EAGLE.
OL MAN RIVER is unbeaten but he not beat anything and darkhorse i got beat a rival by much further
HIGHLAND REEL not being trained like derby horse when last time see AOB 2yo win At Goodwood and not race again at 2.
I know you like this GIOVANNI horse gord but no price by Ladbrokes intresting no price on him
My darkhorse is EPICURIS 20/1 As you know i like a french horse and after Full Mast won at Longchamp she said she had a better 2yo who she see as a derby horse it was this horse.Horse is unbeaten 3out of 3 and thrashed the 2nd in Beresford stakes much further than OL MAN RIVER did.If he comes over trainer is smart woman who won last 2 arcs.1000 guineas and AFRICAN ROSE won group one in UK
So Head Maareack knows what she is doing. And i see this horse being a big player at Epsom.SIR ISAAC NEWTON 25/1
EPICURIS 20/1November 17, 2014 at 18:46 #495596Damn shame bout the ten to follow being cancelled this year – do you normally have a go Gord?
Who wudda been your selections? And you Ginge if you read this!

Just not something I’ve ever done Gary,I couldn’t imagine how difficult it would be to even lead such an incredible competition never mind actually winning it! I suppose if I did pick 10 to follow this jumps season I’d go for horses who would peak in March.Any points collected before that would just be a bonus mate.Off the top of my head I’d go for the following;-
Holywell
Lord Windermere
More of that
Oscar Whisky
Saphir du Rheu
Shutthefrontdoor
Taquin de Seuil
The New One
Uxizandre
Whisper
.
November 17, 2014 at 20:56 #495603Agreed – a lot more to it than meets the eye

You’ve left out the Arkle winner

Thats a good one Gary, In my world I would have sent
Vaniteux
Chasing but he could be a serious Champion hurdle contender.
Sgt Reckless
looks a natural Chaser with the right Arkle form but if we knew
Vatour
was going that route I would rate him highly too…What says you mate?
