Merry Xmas and a prosperous New Year Gord and all your family and followers
December 26, 2014 at 12:27 #499494Merry Xmas and a prosperous New Year Gord and all your family and followers

And yourself Gary pal.
Now then listen to this for the value bet of the year…
I am renowned for saying the ‘Supreme’is a race for throwing good horses year on year, even Champions! Well last years is no difference,I rate ‘Vaniteaux’ highly as a Chasing prospect and I thought the same for thisSgt Reckless 50/1
,however having seen how easily he travelled in last years Nov championship race at the festival over 2 miles I’m not surprised he’s taking his chance today in the Xmas hurdle. Can he beat the ‘Talkin horse’ ‘Faugheen’? The horse that broke my 100% lay record last year! I dont know but he can beat ‘Irving’ 6/1 as he already has in last seasons ‘Supreme’.But this is the bet…Ladbrokes are going 16/1 about ‘Sgt Reckless’ W/O the Fav.they are going 2 places about that price too for e/w purposes and I cant see my fellow not getting 3rd here,he’s a classy horse so thats the bet of the day for me.Good luck all those playing in this.
.
All I need here to make a 150% profit is to beat ‘Sign of a Victory’into 3rd or for one of the big 2 to fail..Thats got to be worth the risk. We’ll see.December 26, 2014 at 15:23 #499508Oi oi – great ride from Fehily, nice bit of 33s about a 15/8 shot, those long shot doubles come in sometimes
December 27, 2014 at 10:39 #499613Gord any thoughts on lexus chase and 3m hurdle grade one i like BOSTON BOB 6/1 and AT FISHERS CROSS 4/1
December 29, 2014 at 21:21 #499897Gord: very happy with 2 of my festival runners today: my banker Don Poli has to be RSA bound now surely which will please Darren as Valseur Lido would have to be rerouted to JLT however I am firmly in the Apache Stronghold camp for this race as he will never run right handed again, different horse left handed!!
Faugheen was awesome and whatever Willie Mullins says about Ruby having a difficult choice if the Fly gets there fit and well, not in a month of Sundays would he jump off Faugheen.
After Silviniaco Conti easily landed the 33s for me in a brilliant run at Kempton – I have some tasty EW dockets with 12s on them for the Gold Cup
the cheek pieces ala See More Business have improved this lad!!Your Champagne Fever will make Dynaste go in the Ryanair, some majestic races to savour, let’s hope they all make it safe and sound
December 30, 2014 at 20:48 #499951Willie Mullins has said that Hurricane Fly is very much his number one contender for the Champion Hurdle.
Judging by the respective odds for Faugheen and The Fly, Willie is either talking bollocks, or bookmakers are seriously poor at assessing a race.
I am struggling to remember an unbeaten horse who has been talked up so negatively by their trainer and this makes John Gosden sound like Clive Brittain in comparison.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
December 30, 2014 at 21:05 #499953Mullins was pretty negative on Faugheen last season as well, but Ruby Walsh’s comments after the Neptune were pretty revealing. If I remember correctly, he said something along the lines of "I wasn’t sure what was under the bonnet, but Willie assured me there was plenty there". It seems as though Mullins knows he has a monster on his hands but is afraid to believe it. He described his improvement as ‘astonishing’ before Kempton and has since said there’s more to come.
The comments about Fly still being their number one are typical Mullins talk really. You often hear him mention ratings and class of race when discussing his horses’ chances and he’s going to consider Hurricane Fly his best hurdler until Faugheen goes and beats him, publicly at any rate.
The two horses are like chalk and cheese really. Whereas a peak Hurricane Fly used to put races to bed after the last with a blistering turn of foot, Faugheen has horses stuffed with a couple of furlongs to run. At Cheltenham, Punchestown and Kempton it was a case of Ruby saying ‘goodbye now’ and just letting him loose. I think The New One and Jezki will be flat to the boards trying to keep tabs on him turning into the Cheltenham straight and they won’t get any nearer to him on the run to the line.
December 31, 2014 at 09:40 #499967This
Faugheen
is one of those horses who will make me look an idiot……Again! I certainly cant fathom him out,his form is freakish and a year ago he was touted as this seasons RSA winner, now he’s a bloody Champion hurdler!
I would like to see him leave ‘Jezki’ failing to get near him over 2m before I chuck the towel in trying to find one to beat him.TAPK tried and failed miserably to get ‘King Kauto’ beat and again with ‘Frankel’
This fellowFaugheen
looks as though he’s from the same stock.
January 4, 2015 at 15:40 #500385Gary,now that the dust on your brilliant bit of foresight about snaffling the 33/1 on
Silviniaco Conti
doing the Betfair/King George has settled whats your feelings about him erasing last years strange run in the Gold cup?
January 5, 2015 at 12:10 #500455Gord if FAUGHEEN wins champion hurdle i blame you mate if you remember last year i said to you after neptune what chance you give him in Champion hurdle because he showed speed. and horses who won neptune have good record in race you said i was mad or something like that am sure you find the quote mate
January 5, 2015 at 18:14 #500484Gord: any plans for the weekend? I’m treating the missus to a day at Wetherby races on Saturday if you fancy it
January 18, 2015 at 10:30 #501956Gord: interesting and very well bred newcomer today in the bumper at Leop, JETT is very well related and in excellent hands, could be an interesting one today and deffo for the future
. However, word on the course is that Mullins entrant could be his best bumper entry for festival!January 18, 2015 at 18:32 #502037Well after disappointing on the gallops on Thursday, that bumper winner of Gigginstown could be a nice sort, the 2nd will win NTO and improve drastically once hurdling, the 3rd is also very nicely bred and will win races. I’ve taken the 20s for the bumper but it’s anyone’s guess who Mullins will send
January 31, 2015 at 11:17 #503535TAPK is having a punt today on a horse who in my humblest opinion should be clear Fav for the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Chase at Sandown.Conditions should suit perfectly for one of my Cheltenham team in
Champagne West
.Ladbrokes gave me 5/2 and that is generous for a horse I make 7/4 fav.’Irish Saint’ is no slouch but when it come to pinging the Railway fences my fellow will steal lengths on the false Fav.
I also like the look of my ‘County’ hurdle horseGarde la Victoire
3rd fav this time in a 4 horse race at 11/4,throw in
Festive affair
at 5/1 and
Just a Par
at 8/1 and I’ll have a Lucky 15.
