Good evening everyone
My time on here continues to be sparse these days. I’m busy composing and doing stuff. I’m still volunteer gardening and there are a million and one other things I get up to including gardening. Most poetry composing takes place in the mornings and below is one such example from. Christmas Day morning.
I’m going to write to you when I. Very best health to you.
Below is a poem I wrote which has had good responses whenever and whereever it’s been encountered.
It’s a nod to the past and the present and the future and remembers the parents who have passed and their continuing roles in our lives.
It’s called ‘A Wish” it’s a love poem but it’s many things which is it’s beauty the reader can interpret as they see fit.A Christmas Day poem

“A wish”.

High Street
Walton
Felixstowe Suffolk England 🏴If I had a choice of what I wanted to do.
Christmas would be very different as I’d choose to be with you.
I’d get the decorations put up on a Monday that you’d taken off.
It would be a pleasure, not a chore. In happy memories you’d be lost. You’d never have to shed a tear, if me you did employ.
The only falling tears you’d shed would just be ones of joy.
We’d dance around the fire in the middle of each night.
We’d go outside and watch for shooting stars, and wonder at their flight. Our kids would call us everyday and tell us of their lives.
They’d say we’d made them happy by loving them and giving them our best advice.
We’d look back on our own lives and count up all our blessings.
We’d then realise that all our trials were tests, ALL of them. NO messing. We’d make the choice to enjoy life with every single breath we had.
We’d realise Mother Nature made decisions for us, and for them we would be glad.
We’d raise our glasses to parents passed and present who’d wanted us to bloom.
The ones that gave us a chance to grow and understood we needed room. It’s incredible we’re their age now and that is why they’ve gone.
We’d also know life’s precious flow doesn’t truly give us long.
We’d also know how precious are the things we both hold dear.
So grasp them now don’t let them pass for not forever they will be here. Our lives have a purpose which must be governed by what we do.
The only controlling button ultimately is the one pushed just by you.
As I said earlier,
If I had a choice of what I wanted to do.
Christmas would be very different as I’d choose to be with you.
Those are the words I’ve spoken and I mean them, they are true.
They are from my heart please heed them as I’m saying them to you.
❤️December 28, 2024 at 15:35 #1716836I’m just in the door from London Sam, and what a warm feeling your post
gives. Having just seen my kids and my grandsons, one only weeks old, what
you say is nothing but the bare truth. In reality we have so little
time and if we don’t use each second like it was a prize given to us,
we’ll miss the point. Magnificent poem mate
December 30, 2024 at 13:12 #1717053I hope everyone had a good Christmas, spent with family, loved ones & the special people in your life.
Sam’s poem is perfect, for the season. Thanks for sharing Sam!
My TRF TTF stable isn’t performing very well at all – any thoughts of winning this year have faded quickly.
Enjoy New Year’s Eve and Best Wishes to all of the “Meydan Thursday” family for 2025. Good Health, Happiness and lots of winners!
Take Care All
December 30, 2024 at 18:14 #1717071Just to wish everyone here a happy new year
And BigG the Golf is back this week on the
Pga tour my tips out in the new 2025 thread.December 30, 2024 at 19:15 #1717072Just catching up with what you have all been up to over the Christmas hols and Andre couldn’t agree more about when everyone goes home Christmas night, the difference in our house this year was they all slept over
so we had a great Boxing Day morning together before they all headed off. Hope yours was a magical Christmas.
I hope your horses start winning more points for you in Bobby’s TTF. I was flukey enough to have a short spell leading the comp but soon was brought down to earth. I’m hopeful that Brighterdaysahead and my dark horse Potter’s Charm who is running so well will continue their upward spiral.
State Man was so disappointing for his followers I think the team tactics beat him yesterday and the mare Brighterdaysahead being in such brilliant form.
Graham so pleased you managed to get to London and hug your new Grandson and little Alexander who must be growing up fast. It was definitely the Grandkids who made Christmas in our house even when 7yo Emily, son Chris’s daughter, locked herself in the downstairs toilet and we thought we might have to smash a door panel to free her..lol 🤔😂 Luckily she managed to get the key back in it’s groove and out she came looking very sheepish.
This Christmas I have not touched a drop of Alcohol as I have an infection and am on antibiotics and the bad news is I have to have another course which means the NoZeco, 0 alcohol sparkling wine, ✨️ will be out for New Years Eve.

Sam your poems are amazing and always hit the spot bang on. Thank you so much for your PM and the beautiful Christmas poem and it’s great to hear that Poppy is doing do well and is studying Biomedical Science at College let’s hope she gets to carry on her career at University in the future.
All good wishes to both of you.
Catherine…Have you managed to get your swap back from Godolphin yet? I think racing will continue at Meydan this Friday 3rd January and then onwards to the Dubai World Cup..Best of luck.

🎊🍾🍸✨️HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL 🎊🍾🍸✨️
Good luck to Graham in the TRF Poster of the Year contest.

It’s very tight between yourself and green Graham you are currently on 15 points and I have everything crossed that you get a few more votes and storm home..
Best of luck…voting ends tomorrow at midnight when we all change into pumpkins 🎃 😂
Stay safe … Jac xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 31, 2024 at 02:19 #1717094My daughter has a downstairs loo that is at the back of the utility room. I often house/dog sit for her. She’s always having work done on the house and last year I was there when there were builders around so I locked the toilet door. Which then wouldn’t open. No one would hear you in there, no matter how loud you shouted and the builders would have just left the house unlocked later that day. The family were going to be away for ages.Thankfully I eventually got it to open. She did casually mention on Christmas Day this year that it’s best not to lock it. I am very belt and braces and always give Mike a spare key to her house and my own (because I usually drive home once a day to check my house which is only a few miles away and worry that, if I had an accident no one would be able to feed my grand dog, Trudie) but he wouldn’t have known I was stuck in the loo. I got stuck in my loft once, too. With my dodgy knee, when I sit on the floor I can’t easily get back up. As I was sitting there going through some stuff I saw a bat. But then couldn’t get up because I was wedged in a corner and couldn’t manoeuvre my knee into the right position. Thankfully, it turned out to be a plastic bat and I managed to get up but I just kept thinking Alien like ‘intheloftnoonecanhearyouscream’. Bad knee or not I NEVER use lifts.
December 31, 2024 at 03:32 #1717096Lol Moe 😂 amazing all the difficult situations we can find ourselves in. I’m sure our little Emily will look back and laugh at how she locked herself in our loo and as her dad said she won’t do it again.
Glad you finally managed to get out of your predicament in the loft. When you said bat did you mean bat 🦇 or bat🏏.
I’m guessing the furry kind..how scary was that. 😨
Jac
xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 31, 2024 at 04:52 #1717097I don’t really dislike bats ( the furry kind that is) but not in an enclosed space when I can’t move. And they can carry rabies I believe? I love watching them outside; the way they follow the same path. Years ago, when I worked at our doctors surgery we were about to lock up but found the toilet door was locked. It was just a small surgery, me, one doctor, a loo, waiting room, consultation room and dispensary. We thought someone had collapsed in there so had to scramble through the overgrown garden to peer through the window. It turned out that some naughty kid had fiddled about with the lock before leaving. I must remind the doctor about that. She’s about to retire soon ( and she’s a racing fan). Where does the time go?
December 31, 2024 at 08:54 #1717101I actually like bats too but my mum scared the life out of me by saying they get tangled up in your hair.

Congratulations Graham
On being voted
TRF POSTER OF THE YEAR
Well deserved win against a good opponent.
Well done Graham
Jac.xxThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 1, 2025 at 10:29 #1717234I’ve got a lot to thank you for Jac, not just nominaating me,
your summary of me would have broughy tears to a glass eye.
I am a bit numb still, I just didnn’t see this coming
January 1, 2025 at 16:10 #1717302Got a lot of catching up to do as I’ve had very limited internet. Now got no data on my phone at all (despite it supposed to start again on 1st of the month). Got to go into the shop to get it sorted apparently, which I can’t do for many days. Grrrr.
No luck getting my swap back from Godolphin Jac. Bunch of crooks….
Anyway, enough of my first world problems. Happy New Year all and congrats to BigG on your very well-deserved award. Onwards & upwards for 2025!
January 2, 2025 at 11:10 #1717334Will be backing San Donato EW again now back at a mile. Respect Ottoman Fleet but he is 0/5 here and seems to find a way to get beat round here. Will wait on Jac’s thoughts on him and the other Godolphin runner in the Zabeel Mile
Congrats again Big Man
January 2, 2025 at 14:27 #1717338Congrats Graham!!
Poster of the Year! Very well deserved mate.Jac – Christmas was nice, and as expected, everyone was gone by about 5PM. That’s life I guess. I’m glad you had a fun Boxing Day morning too. Making special memories.
Brighterdaysahead is an outstanding mare! She ran away from the field. The tactics may not have worked with State Man, but I’m not sure he would have beaten her. I have a mountain to climb to get back into contention for the TTF comp – my dark horses need to start winning

Sorry about your data problems Catherine. We switched to unlimited data a few years ago. It may cost a little more, but it’s a lot less hassle.
Happy New Year Everyone!!
Take CareJanuary 2, 2025 at 16:33 #1717344Good Afternoon to everyone – And A Happy New Year to all
