There is plenty to play for in the non leagues on the final weekend of the season. None more so than in the winner takes all clash between Rochdale and York.
In National League North, 8 of the 12 fixtures have something at stake (Southport v Telford being one that doesn’t).
I expect Fylde will win promotion. The relegation battle is a lot less clear.
Alfreton v Curzon Ashton is a key game. The home side must win to have any chance of staying up but would still have to depend on other results. Curzon could stay up with a draw but more likely need to win.
It looks like Hereford will survive after beating Marine on Tuesday. They should be up to beating Peterborough Sports on Saturday.
King’s Lynn look vulnerable. I can’t see them getting anything at Chester.
I suppose it is unlikely but it is possible a team with 54 points is relegated. Which makes me pleased that Southport had that run of 6 wins in 7 games from early March to Easter and don’t have to worry about getting anything this weekend. Having said that, I hope we finish the campaign on a positive note.
I would also like to see Prescot Cables survive in the Northern Premier League but I doubt they will get the win they need.
April 24, 2026 at 14:19 #1764624It is a little bit insulting by William Hill to offer 9/4 against Southport tomorrow. I am quite happy to take that price against Telford, a team with nothing to play for and away from home.
April 24, 2026 at 21:24 #1764694CAS, thats a great write up for the end of season Non League

I do suspect that the Cardiff faithfull will be singing the …We will never play you again” tune tomorrow at the 500 cobbs fans.
April 25, 2026 at 18:12 #1764843Cardiff did the honours and stuffed Cobbs 5-1
PAT returned 9.5 and the single a further 38.This brings the deficit down to -151.1
Only a two more matches for the Cobbs to extend their fantastic loosing streak.
Brackley and Banbury are finished for the season. KSV1919 will keep pluging on for a few more weeks, fighting against relegation. Imagine following 3 teams that get relegated in the same season..
Nice win for Southport today CAS, sets the tone for next season.
Great to see York promoted, always a good away fixture to take in.
April 25, 2026 at 20:20 #1764854A good end to the season and the 9/4 landed. I am happy to accept a yellow card for after timing but I took 9/1 for Southport to win both halves as well.
We were a bit fortunate to be 1-0 up at half time. However, I thought we edged it in the second half and deserved the win. Telford were a team with nothing to play for and in the last twenty minutes they looked like one.
We will probably lose a few of our better players but at least the club is a more attractive proposition in the next recruitment round than we were this time last year.
Fylde won the promotion battle. I am glad they are out of the way.
The relegation battle went down to the wire. Alfreton and Curzon Ashton played out what must have been an exciting 3-3 draw but unfortunately it relegated both of them. Alfreton must be in despair after being 3-0 up.
Hereford had a scare against Peterborough Sports but a late equaliser secured their safety. I didn’t think King’s Lynn would get anything at Chester but a goalless draw was enough.
Interesting to note that the four relegated teams are the four teams with the lowest average attendances.
Brackley and Morecambe will be in NLN next season, while Hebburn join them after winning the Northern Premier League.
April 25, 2026 at 20:29 #1764855“Great to see York promoted, always a good away fixture to take in.”
Agree, I wanted York to go up. An equaliser in the 13th minute of added time, after Rochdale had scored in the 95th minute and there was a pitch invasion! That must have caused all the extra added time, which only served to help York. I may try to take in a game there next season.
Unfortunately Prescot Cables, the team my grandfather supported along with Everton, were relegated from the Northern Premier League. They beat Bamber Bridge 2-0 but a draw for Whitby Town ensured the Yorkshire team stayed up instead.
Bury won the NPL West and will play in the Northern Premier League next season. Their march back to the Football League continues, although there is a story attached.
At the start of the day, Bury were 2 points clear of Avro. A win would obviously see them promoted. If they drew, Avro would be level on points if they won but could only overtake Bury if they won by a margin of 11 goals.
Avro’s opponents were the already relegated Darlaston, a team with nothing to play for. And sure enough, Avro beat them 13-0!
Bury’s win meant it didn’t matter. But just how hard were Darlaston trying? The NPL must have to hold the equivalent of a stewards enquiry.
April 26, 2026 at 10:17 #1764904In the Southern league Central the winners are Harborough Town, with the play offs spots taken by Spalding, Kettering, Real Bedford and Halesowen. Could be interesting if Real Bedford are promoted and play Bedford Town in the NLN. Im not seeing any teams likely to move from NLN to NLS, but who knows with the way the league is run.
NLN play offs have thrown up Macclesfield V Chester, that will be feisty.
Kiddy look to be in good form and would be my choice to go up.Im sure all of the west country will be supporting Weston Super Mare in the NLS play offs.
April 26, 2026 at 10:43 #1764909Harborough will be in NLN next season.
I wonder if Merthyr may get moved to NLS? Or perhaps Bedford.
April 26, 2026 at 11:56 #1764915Having previously played in NLS, Oxford City could be an option to move. Bedford, well if Real Bedford win their SLC play offs, NLN would have two from the same town, which would be hard to split geographically.
April 28, 2026 at 18:40 #1765164The end is nigh.

-170.5May 8, 2026 at 19:37 #1766309South Shields v Kidderminster in the NLN promotion play off tomorrow.
I hope South Shields win. Partly because it will mean one less longer journey for Southport but mainly because Kidderminster were disrespectful to us on the final day of last season. Their fans seem to have a huge sense of entitlement.
Hebburn are in NLN next season, along with Darlington and Spennymoor, so we could do without another long journey to the North East!
May 9, 2026 at 15:06 #1766411South Shields 0 Kidderminster 2.
That will be a tough one to take for South Shields. They finished 8 points clear of Kidderminster but only have themselves to blame. They were top but a loss to Darlington and draws with Spennymoor and Bedford cost them dearly.
I assume the Kidderminster fans on Harrier Chat will be happy for a change!
Four long journeys to the North East for Southport next season.
May 9, 2026 at 15:28 #1766414Dont forget that long trip south to Brackley.
At present Brackley only have one player under contract for next season, some from this last season have been offered new deals, but not signed yet.May 9, 2026 at 15:48 #1766416Along with Oxford, Bedford and King’s Lynn as well. While two of the shorter journeys – Fylde and Curzon Ashton – have gone. Although the Morecambe derby match is back on, perhaps on Boxing Day as it used to be.
May 14, 2026 at 17:31 #1766792The FA published the non league allocations today. Brackley are confirmed in NLN, not that there was ever much doubt. The likes of Bedford and Oxford City have to soldier on in North as well.
I expect Rushall Olympic are pleased at being laterally moved from the Northern Premier League to Southern League Premier Central.
More local to me, it is a relief to see South Liverpool have been left in the North West Counties Premier. It would have been unsatisfactory to be laterally moved to the Midlands League. Which is the fate of both Cheadle Town and West Didsbury & Chorlton, despite both being further north than Aigburth!
