Dunno why I mess around with these random races like that jog around that field in ireland earlier. Should just stick with the big races which are so predictable.

Anyway well done might bite my son. :good:

Interesting….not sure it screams Gold Cup winner to me (but maybe needs better ground) and the second has run lights out – another 2F for the Gold Cup could be an issue especially on good to soft or soft.

Congrats to those who stuck with MB

Remember Might Bite is a good ground horse and he won in soft today. So was never going to be a stroll.

Well done winners. Best horse won.

Well played lads. Some big fans of him on here and you’ve called it right.

Great runs from double shuffle and tea for two as well.

Thistlecrack has come on for the run as I hoped. Think he will be a big player for the Gold Cup. Him, might bite, Sizing John, etc will make this a great Gold Cup.

Yeah, well done Mite Bite. He’s a beauty.

However….I’ll need to watch that race a few times. The proximity of the second and third cast some doubts on the form but Might Bite cleared that last fence like he remembered every twig of it from last season – he was miles over it. Saving himself ?

No wonder Nicky wanted to run Top Notch in this.

Maybe people will calm down about bristol de mai now. Unless its bottomless he isn’t grade one class. Good performance by the winner, backed double shuffle but was more just as an interest bet than due to any strong opinion. Great run to finish second
Also a word for tea for Two who is proving a consistent performer. Thistlecrack ran a promising race in my opinion and may come on a lot from that run. Fox Norton didn’t stay and whisper just had a disaster.

Very disappointing for us Bristol De Mai supporters though am not quite ready to write him off yet.

Well done the Biters – he was idling quite a bit I think and is better than that looked. Whatever they’ve done since last season has taken some of the thrill out of his racing style though they won’t be bothered about that.

Not being funny Joe but surely none of us are bristolers or biters we should all just go with which horse fits best the requirements of the race.

like that race in ireland earlier- stupidly backed death duty even though 2 miles was blatantly too short for him. just liked the horse and ignored all the overwhelming evidence which suggested he wouldn’t win that particular race.

you can get too stuck on horses imo.

Delighted with the place for Tra For Two was very sweet on his chances…thought at one moment he was being delivered with a winning run!

Might Bite was potentially the best in it and so he proved..

As far as the Gold Cup picture looks I’d rule out Thistlecrack as I just don’t think he’s the heart for it once he’s asked…maybe a return to staying hurdling but I think he’ll have the same problem there..

Bristol De Mai can’t win it either…only chance he’d have is if it was switched to Haydock, he’d be odds on then!

Fox Norton back in trip, won’t ever win a championship race over 3 miles plus..

Whisper was the big disappointment as he should have been much closer to Might Bite…maybe he’ll be a better horse back at Cheltenham and on better ground? Still wouldn’t totally rule him out of being a lively outsider..

Might Bite I’d just have liked to have seen him come away from the places horses a bit more to be a real gold cup player at the top of the market…after watching that Sizing John looks a penalty kick now..

The conditions suited BDM more than MB

Bristol De Mai is a Haydock/Gutters horse. He’s decent elsewhere but well below what he can do when he’s got the aforementioned conditions.

From being a horse who was going to break the handicap framework, he’s looked ordinary today. You can be disappointed today but surely not surprised because the horse has failed every time he’s not had his ideal scenario.

I selected Sizing John and Might Bite for this race back in March. I wasn’t totally confident but 5/1 looked big for the Henderson chaser.

There is this tendency for him to tire in the closing stages but I thought he jumped quite well today and he went past Bristol De Mai like a Ferrari passing a milk float. The Twiston-Davies chaser’s race was over in a few strides and any notion that he was two stones superior to Might Bite looked laughable.

Whisper was the other huge disappointment, he looked as slow as a barge today. Obviously there is a question mark with the big prices placing but Fox Norton was dubious on staying power, Thistlecrack had something to prove, Bristol De Mai was probably overrated away from Haydock and with Whisper stinking the place out the places were up for grabs in the end and something has to fill the void.

Well done Tea For Two backers, the horse was out on his feet last time but has seen the runaway winner there off the premises this time.

I’ll have a wee Jack Daniels single cask to celebrate.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

That’s your opinion. My opinion would be Bristol De Mai would be better off going left-handed and on heavier ground.

In any case Might bite is the much better horse, though again this is just my opinion. Bristol De Mai overrated cus he sluices up in bog-like conditions.

Joe, I did try to explain that his 57 length romp at Haydock was not impressive on the clock, he only earned a speed figure of 128 from me, and not a silly RPR of 185.

If the same RPR handicapper is let loose again, Might Bite should received a RPR of 200+ and join the immortals.

    Mike.

Sizing John looks a penalty kick now..

No such thing as a penalty kick in a Gold Cup.
