Agree on Rochester House Tonge Oli had the ideal opportunity for an update and fluffed it.

Not very pleased we didn’t get to see all the King George runners in the paddock spent loads of time with the favourite I wanted to see Glass Slippers and Arecibo in particular close up not going in the stalls.

Obviously to cold for Charlotte Hawkins to turn out today but that Mark Hayes trolling around the bars cadgeing Pimms, cocktails and Tapas etc is really annoying. Please leave him in the bar next time and get the cameras back to the paddock.

Lol Clive B-) for a brief minute I thought you meant Francesca had been on the cocktails in the morning but then I almost cracked a rib laughing when the fog cleared. Too much information.

Christ I am sick to the back teeth of hearing about the WFA and sex allowances. The same point raised as if it is the height of insight, time after time after time.

Ok, I am going to admit to switching up the volume when Matt Chapman spoke to Gary Wiltshire yesterday.

I like Gary, I still see him at the Points, and his son is a really nice lad too who combines DJing in Ibiza with helping his Dad in betting rings – how varied is that?

Anyway, tbh, I don’t think Chapman made much of a job if it.

There’s a lot more to Gary than the day he laid Frankie’s seventh winner for the lot at Ascot.

Aftertimers who say Gary was mad to do it never stop to get think maybe Gary pulled many similar fearless stunts on apparently false (due to running up money) favs over the years and usually trousered the lot.

Same old cliched angle on an old story, over 20 years after the event.

I still wonder if there was an element of skulduggery on that day but if there was, you would have thought that Gary Wiltshire would have been aware of it.

    I don’t think so, Purwell.

But what I do think is that, in those circumstances, the horse was never the same natural odds as in the morning.

While sudden jockey form isn’t nearly as important as sudden trainer form, I have seen time and time again over the years jockeys in inspired form in big races narrowly win subsequent races on the card.

I can understand laying a horse which had been 20/1 at 5/2 (though not to lose your house, but then I’m cautious by nature) but while 5/2 was lousy value on paper it was never a 20/1 chance either for me by then.

I’d say with Frankie on a roll and riding out of his skin with supreme confidence about 5/1 would have been the right price.

It’s all down to opinions, though.

Not watching ITV Racing anymore, they seriously lost the plot. LD73 the healthy viewing numbers they are churning out and the contract extensions they are obviously doing something right. Don’t for one moment believe the viewing figures, anyone can falsify figures to earn new TV contracts get elected to Parliament, or become a Mayor :negative: :negative:

I don’t think Ed Chamberlain is comparable to ‘Diamond Joe Quimby’ Troy.

As they say they are trying to tempt more new and younger viewers to the sport , while that’s understandable I really miss the days of CH4 , esp at Cheltenham , as I’ve said I like Fitzgerald and Luke Harvey however with Francome you got 2 for the price of 1 , no dumbing down just proper racing conversation and coverage

I think the best recruitment to horse racing is attracting families. I am sure most racegoers enjoyed their day out at meetings at a younger age, taken by their parents, and they like their kids to experience the day out too.

The proof of the pudding is the viewing figures since ITV took over several years ago. They’ve added to their payroll with more presenters than they ever need, but how has this translated with these numbers?

I agree He Didn’t Like Ground, Francome had the chemistry for the programme. Not word perfect, unscripted not standing there seeking perfection in front of the camera like ITV do now, with Francome it was raw but it was easier viewing than it is now. I can’t even watch the programme now.

    Wrong Troy

Advertisers rely on the figures and demographics. Believe me, I worked in media buying, and the numbers are strictly independent

One pundit who has surprised me a bit is Seb Sanders on SSR. No bland sound bites, gives an opinion and is not afraid to call out bad rides and to criticise jockeys.

I do not always agree with him and he is perhaps a little harsh on apprentices sometimes – but it is refreshing to hear someone speak their mind.

Are we going to see any horses at York today ITV?
Mark Heyes and Charlotte Hawkins eating and drinking their way through the Premier enclosure, judging fashion best dressed lady, best dressed up child.
Richard Hoiles doing sectional timing on yesterdays big race and then the adverts..

Thouroughly enjoyed the post-race interview with Ray Dawson. Compared to the sickening and carefully polished guff from Dettori, that was brilliant and raw joyful television.

    Well done Ray.

Yes agreed TTC Ray Dawson came across as a really nice guy and was really happy he’d turned his life around.

They kicked out the drunken twosome early doors…just dont see the point

The interview with Andrew Gemmell was good too and then his horse won at 28/1. :good:

David Allan and Tim Easterby ignored, cannot remember seeing a race where the winning jockey was not interviewed.

Probably to make room for the meaningless crap where we saw the public quaffing champagne and the extensive verbiage about Snowfall which how many of us needed.

Total lack of respect, had Murphy or Detorri been on board would not have happened.
