It’s a big price VtC, and I want to see how he gets on at Leapordstown first, but I’ll surely have a bet at 33/1 before that, to cover myself should he surprise there.
January 18, 2020 at 14:44 #1480120Magic Of Light was very game today and clearly very genuine. Took what was left of the 25’s and she is my third bet in the race.
January 19, 2020 at 12:42 #1480241FIRST BET CHAMPAGNE CLASSIC 33/1 WIN ONLY.
Grade 1 horse in handicap off around 10-5. Jumps, stays Travells.
My only worry is that aintree is quite close to festival.
Been in great form this season. Really fancy him and we’ll handicpped off 152
January 25, 2020 at 11:40 #1480785I’ve played definitely red , after watching last week’s run I reckon he could be value , similar profile to netptune collonge
January 26, 2020 at 18:56 #1480936Thank you Autumnal.
I’m very happy with the 50-1 for Kimberlite, and I just want him to go straight there now.
Unless something goes amiss with him, I think I will just stick with him alone.
January 26, 2020 at 20:12 #1480942Entries out this week.
Seems really weird after years of doing a book on it, not to have one running on it this year.
I’ve seen me at this stage with 20+ horses backed by now, and waiting with anticipation/trepidation, for the official entries.
No such worries this year, and still looking forward to seeing who’s in and who’s out.
I’ve got Tiger Roll NRNB in a good few lines, but nothing to get too excited about, and no change to the shortlist….

Anibale FlyJanuary 27, 2020 at 20:48 #1481048Do many of you in here think tiger can win this year …as much as I love him I can’t help but want to take him on
January 27, 2020 at 21:36 #1481055Depends how much higher his rating will be
He won so easily last year off 159, be interesting to see the mark the handicapper gives him
January 28, 2020 at 15:22 #1481116106 entries, including Vintage Clouds, who’s been entered to keep options open for connections.
January 29, 2020 at 11:53 #1481191January 29, 2020 at 13:28 #1481196Several jumping off the page. Really tempted to commit to Definitly Red, but he’d be my fourth bet and I’d really like to look at something bigger.
I was so sweet on Traffic Fluide for this last year, but he’s been absent since November 2018 after a setback and I’m just not keen on light campaigns for the National. His price should hold regardless and I’ll likely wait until an update is given before giving it any serious consideration.
The price about Singlefarmpayment is mad considerating his run last year and I think it would be harsh to call his season disappointing so far. His fourth at Cheltenham in December was a cracking run. He’ll need to go up a few to guarantee a run, but you’d imagine Tom George would find a likely race for him before the 11th if they were serious about going here.
January 29, 2020 at 14:36 #1481203I’m interested in
Alpha des Obeaux
Magic of Light
RavenhillJanuary 29, 2020 at 15:28 #1481210Can’t wait for some interesting horses to be balloted out for this in favour of loads of Elliott’s non-trier types like Blow by Blow, General Principle and Monbeg Notorious. Are we all stoked for Outlander to sneak in at number 40…
On a more generous note, fascinating to see Aso entered. Gone are the days where the preferred National type was a 20-furlonger! Ditto Mister Whitaker.
I’ve always wanted to see Yala Enki have a crack at this, and Beware the Bear.
Two French entries! Dalko Moriviere has won only one of 13 chases, so seems a wild entry, that. As is Disco D’Authie, one win in nine chases.
Gone are the days of lots of northern entries, and there are few entries from smaller stables and less-obvious names. I suspect they know that you will need to be 142+ to get in, so why waste money applying if your chaser is 128. So, I hope we get to see Takingrisks,
Any surprise omissions from the entries? No West Approach, Present Man or Robinsfirth
January 29, 2020 at 15:52 #1481212Blow By Blow and Outlander are neither Gordon Elliott nor Gigginstown owned..
January 29, 2020 at 18:04 #1481223I’m pleased that I don’t have to worry about Cloth Cap now, and I can turn my attention elsewhere.
The pair I’m looking at just now are Fitzhenry 50-1, and Yala Enki 40-1.
I think that they’re both good ew prices, but I’m going to wait until the first forfeit stage at the earliest.
January 29, 2020 at 21:59 #1481245They were when entered last season.
(reply to post about Blow by Blow and Outlander – no idea how to quote reply here, poor forum software).
January 30, 2020 at 00:33 #1481257My first look at this year’s Grand National lots to ponder

Earlier on reported took Elegant Escape at 40/1 with Bet 365 he’s now best price of 28/1 with same bookmaker so pleased with myself on that score. While at this stage he was entered he was pulled out before the big day. From what I read online I think they keen with him this year, but we’ll see.

Another one is Native River after his Henessy & Welsh Nationals win a few years back thought he’d be a natural for this one, however they resisted temptation to run him until now. Not backed him, yet but he’s on my radar.
Tiger Roll might yet make it three in successive years but would have to do it with top weight and the’s no value in him, having said that might back him before the big day but not yet.
Takingrisks is well named because his owners are split about the National but at 50/1 boosted to 60/1 with Ladbrokes I’ve decided to do just that.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
