Godolphin have confirmed they’ll send some ‘goodies’ for us to put up as prize for this competition. Very kind of them. They are sending them to me, don’t know what it will be but once it arrives I’ll let you know ASAP.
January 29, 2019 at 21:35 #1394198That is really generous of Godolphin
and thank you for arranging this for us David. This particular competition goes on until March 9th when the World Cup takes place at Meydan.
A new competition starts around mid April which will take us through the flat season but I’m not sure of the end date.If there a few prizes we could perhaps split them through the year which hopefully will encourage some new players.
Look forward to hearing if they might consider mini leagues for their next competition and thanks again…Jac

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 29, 2019 at 23:28 #1394211Thanks David & Jac. Makes it a bit more interesting!
January 29, 2019 at 23:54 #1394217Thanks for that Jac, it’s difficult enough placing 2 horses in a race, getting 3 correct is
going to take some doing. Big points though for anyone who manages to get them in correct order,
I reckon that would be 1,200 points
Many thanks David for approaching Godolphin, and managing to persuade them to part with some
goodies
. I think that this competition, and the following ones, could take off in here.
The only thing missing is what Jac has already mentioned, and that is the mini league set up on
their site, which I’m sure would drum up a great deal of interest for them.I miss the ATR Stable Stars compy which we’ve had a league running in here for the past 3 years,
and this would a nice alternative competition for the flat. I’ve not given up hope yet that the
competition will be resurrected with Sky at the helm now, I’ll be in touch with them shortly so
as to give them plenty of time to sort it out for the next jumps season.Good luck all on Thursday
January 30, 2019 at 16:19 #1394279Thanks Graham and Tonge
David has done a great job negotiating a few prizes for our little competition and as Tonge says it makes it all that bit more interesting.I’m off have a little look at that Bonus race but won’t be posting my choices until it’s certain they are all going to run, I jumped on a bit too fast last week not that it would have made a difference

Report back later when I’ve hopefully a bit more of a clue..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 30, 2019 at 18:33 #1394309Just a little update on the Stable Stars competition I mentioned earlier in the thread. I received the
following from Mathew Taylor, who was previously very helpful to us when we raised a few matters, in
particular when the competition was still cutting it’s baby teeth………Hi Graham,
Good to hear from you – your email was forwarded on to me.
It’s always good to get feedback and I’m both glad that you and the other TRF members enjoyed Stable Stars and also sad to hear that you are missing it this season.
The problem we had was that at the 11th hour one of our key suppliers that made the competition happen told us that they wouldn’t be able to offer the service this year. This was really disappointing especially as it didn’t give us enough time to come up with a replacement.
Getting the competition back for next season is something that is on my priority list, but at this stage I can’t say for sure that we’ll be able to find a suitable supplier. Hopefully we will.
Best wishes,
Matthew Taylor

Hopefully they can find someone to fill that gap and we might be up and running again
later this year. I’ll maybe also post this in the Horse Racing Thread, so that anyone
who had an interest previously can be aware that it’s being worked on
January 30, 2019 at 22:49 #1394345Many thanks to David and all concerned with getting Godolphin to donate a prize

Also thanks directly to Godolphin for being kind with the prizes

Good Luck This Week Folks
January 30, 2019 at 23:57 #1394356Great news Graham
be great to have the Stable Stars Competition up and running again and what a nice letter from Matthew Taylor, it pays to keep in touch and thanks for all your work in hopefully getting this to happen again.
Been pondering over that difficult bonus race tonight and still don’t think I’m going to come up with much in the way of bonus points, Nashirah is definitely going to be either 1st or 2nd and the other two is anyone’s guess. I think I’ll just put some mumbers in a hat and pull them out.

Look forward to hearing how you all get on later tomorrow…Good luck Graham, Raymo, Nathan, Tonge, Krypton our merry band of six.
JacAll new players welcome and especially The Blues Brother, who was doing so well the first week, if he is still playing.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 31, 2019 at 22:41 #1394455Finally some real real points on the board (280) thanks to Oasis Charm, Divine Image, On the Warpath & Zaman. Nothing from bonus race. Hope everyone else has got at least something!
January 31, 2019 at 22:45 #1394458Well done with all those points Tonge….
Just in case anyone is unaware in the bonus races once you make a prediction you can’t edit it, or at least I couldn’tGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 31, 2019 at 23:05 #1394465Well done Tonge , I picked up just the 2, Oasis Charm and Devine Image. I had a major change around
in my stable and had hoped for a little more, but at least it’s some points on the board. I completely
bombed in the bonus race as well, and I’ll take my hat off to anyone that managed get that one right.200 points today, I’m now on 1420 points and in position 618.
February 1, 2019 at 00:09 #1394483Well done Tonge and BigG with the points today.
I also totally bombed out on the Bonus race predicting Nashirah to win, Burj 5th and Magic Image 12th which was the closest I got as he finished 14th
However I did pick up some nice points also today having done my 2nd swap of the 5, I swapped in Oasis Charm 120 Points and got place points for Zaman, Divine Image and Gold Town so 475 points in all which gives me
1560 points in position 531.
I’ll update the Leaderboard later when Raymo, Nathan and Krypton post their results.
It was a really hard day to predict but Oasis Charm for me was the outstanding run of the day followed by Divine Image.Having now done 2 swaps of my 5 I’m going to proceed with some caution up to the World Cup event as it actually takes place on March 30th with March 9th being the cut off point for us to have our dream fantasy stable in place. This is what I read on the Dubai Racing Club page…..
The major prep for Dubai World Cup day is the Super Saturday meeting, to be held on Saturday March 09, 2019. Super Saturday allows trainers to put the finishing touches to their equine stars before appearing on racing’s biggest stage – Dubai World Cup day. As the official dress rehearsal for the Dubai World Cup it is a major social occasion.
So it looks like the big points will be available on Saturday 9th March when our stables are frozen and then we need to have all the big guns in place for the World Cup on March 30th…so be careful with those swaps from now on..

@Nathan
Yes did find out about no editing on the Bonus Races after Art Du Val was non runner last week, bit annoying but guess it’s best to leave as late as you can just in case.Look forward to getting all the points in and some good class racing next Thursday.
At least we don’t have to worry about the snow threatening to abandon the meeting…Jac

February 1, 2019 at 12:50 #1394539Still 1340 pts but 675th position now !!
February 4, 2019 at 11:26 #1395141Expecting these to change dramatically next week but here are the scores so far, just waiting for Krypton’s score and position to update the leaderboard…well done with the points this week, I think we might be getting the hang of this now.

JANUARY LEADERBOARD 2019
TRIPTYCH…………………1560 Points – 531
Raymo…………………….1340 Points – 675
BigG………………………..1420 Points – 618
The Krypton Factor……….1100Points – ?
Nathan Hughes……………720 Points – 1486
Tonge………………………680 Points – 1596Good luck next Thursday, I think I’ll be slipping down the leaderboard next week as I’m hanging onto my swaps for a bit now
(only 3 left) so relying on the Bonus Race for some points and hopefully 1 or 2 runners.Just to confirm Super Saturday at Meydan is March 9th so no racing the Thursday before, World Cup Finale March 30th and presume end
of this section of the Fantasy League…if anyone knows anymore please feel free to post…Jac
