Well done Graham and Nath

If it helps Jac I have 740 pts now and am in 633rd place .
January 18, 2019 at 00:50 #1392798Oh I didn’t know that Graham about changing your horses I thought that moving one horse counted as one move and if you moved another it would be two moves.
Light bulb moment
…. now thanks to you I know what they mean about swapping one or ALL of your horses
so will probably do this around end of month for my first change.
Thing is if you swap out a horse with points do you lose those points?Yes the scoring is very eratic while racing is taking place, I went to 670 with my 400 bonus points plus 80 for Top Score 2nd the other week but by end of the meeting I am 1085 which is still an improvement on last week.

Will get our TRF leader board updated and hope to hear how Tonge is getting on also Krypton and The Blues Brother.
Nathan where did you end up on the leaderboard this week?
As you said Graham low points for lower grade races so we need our horses to be entered in the big Group races if possible and keep eyes peeled for the Bonus races they can make all the difference as we saw today.
Raymo and Graham great strides this week

I’m on 480 points and 1085 position.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 18, 2019 at 01:38 #1392799I had to read the rules a couple of times myself Jac, when it didn’t seem too clear about
the swaps, but they added the following clarification which helped ……….b) For the sake of clarification, each time a person changes the composition of their stable by selecting new horses is counted as a ‘swap’ regardless if the person swaps one or all ten of their horses.
I don’t see anything specifically stated on losing points if you replace a horse that has points,
but it wouldn’t make a lot of sense as your tally would be reduced with a swap of a horse that
had points, or completely wiped out if you replaced your stable. A bit like giving points in the
bag up for potential points in the bag. I think you can take it that your points are safe once you
have acquired them
At the end of play today, I’m on 520 points, and still showing as position 979.
January 18, 2019 at 07:18 #1392800Thanks for putting me straight on that Graham, I understand it now so glad I didn’t swop out just one of mine for Poetic Charm yesterday as I think there may be two or three to swop out later for higher graded runners.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 18, 2019 at 08:21 #1392803It’s a shame they don’t have a mini league for groups of friends like in the Super 6
or a follow option, that why it would be easier for us to post up a table between us all
for what it is worth I’m on 300 points 1554 in overall posGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 18, 2019 at 10:01 #1392809I finally got my first points yesterday thanks to the bonus race. Now on 200 (1804th). My two runners yesterday both finished 4th – just like all my others. Ought to get some sort of prize for that!
January 18, 2019 at 23:51 #1392880Thanks Nathan and Tonge and don’t worry about the lack of points now as they will come big time when you have runners in the Group races and you get some points for second place too.
Waiting for Krypton and TBB but guess he might be busy on his stats.
Will update our points this weekend
As Nathan says it is a shame there is no small League we could compete in but I’ll come up with a small prize at the end of the year for whoever comes in tops in our TRF League..cant think of anything yet but perhaps a small piece of Godolphin merchandise or I might take my scissors to Dalham Hall Stud when I go in October and snip a lock of Cracksmans mane
Went there last when New Approach had just joined and can’t wait to see him again
Best of luck next Thursday .. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 20, 2019 at 11:12 #1393086A few movers and shakers last week
Waiting for Krypton and TBB updates and anyone else who wants to join in.
.
Lots of points on offer in the Bonus race last week and BigG and Triptych gained the max 400 points for placing Ispolini and Red Galileo 1st and 3rd
Nathan and Tonge scored 200 for the 1st placed horse and I think Raymo scored with the Bonus too, well done.Really worth looking out for and I will do my best to put the Bonus races or any points appropriate competitions on the Thread asap but appreciate anyone posting up these races when they spot them.

They can be quite generous… Worth suggesting they consider the option of leagues for next time too as it’s popular in other fantasy sport competitions. They don’t have to know there are only 7 of us in it! Probably should come from admin on behalf of the Forum
January 20, 2019 at 11:45 #1393089I’m on 500.
January 20, 2019 at 11:45 #1393090Didn’t even see anything about the bonus races, so don’t think I got anything.

Leagues for next year would be a great idea but it could become complicated like the ATR one unless the number of players is regulated.
With such a long running contest, I think the idea of a TRF FANTASY LEAGUE will be a lot more fun and a small prize would make it even better. If we do have a prize on offer, do you all think we should close the TRF League for entries at midnight Thursday 28th February, this would give enough TRF members time to join and avoid new players/members with big points coming in near the end of the comp in December.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 21, 2019 at 14:45 #1393172I was thinking along the lines of the Premier League Fantasy Football which has no restrictions on teams and seems basically just set up to make it easier for people to compete against their own friends/workmates etc. (there might be prizes for teams but I’ve never been in one that is doing well enough to be involved so pay no attention!). That’s what we’re doing of course but it seems like a lot of work for you, even with just a few of us, so I’m sure they’d see the sense of having that facility on their system. Would help promote the game too people are more interested, and more likely to keep at it, when they have a chance of playing against people they know – let’s face it most of us have no hope of winning a trip to Dubai! Cut off date of 28th Feb is a good idea
January 21, 2019 at 15:19 #1393175I think the idea of them having a section for mini leagues is a good one, I don’t know
why they didn’t think about it. I doubt they would put something in place this year now
that the competition is under way, but if contacted I think they may well consider introducing
it next year. It would make things a lot easier for us, in the ATR competition we had I was able
to copy and paste the league standings each week, it would have been completely unmanageable to
update on here with the number of stables involved, without the league in place. It looks like
we will just need to keep updating our own score/position regularly so Jac can keep a grip on
things. It’s not as if you don’t have enough on your plate in here already Jac without taking on
more
. I’m sure we will all pitch in
January 21, 2019 at 19:31 #1393204Thanks Tonge and Graham for the feedback I didn’t know about the fantasy football and how the league’s work but it sounds a good idea and hope Godolphin might consider it next year.
I have PM’d Cormack regarding contacting Godolphin about a small prize for this season and if they do come back with that for us there is no reason why we couldn’t go back and ask about the possibility of setting up mini league’s within the scoring system
I think it would promote more interest in their operation and horses and bring a more competitive feel to the competition which it seems to lack being just a single player.Hoping Cormack will get back soon and meanwhile I’m happy to carry on scoring up our TRF League if you can update your scores as they change and we can enjoy seeing who emerges Fantasy King or Queen 2019..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 22, 2019 at 12:19 #1393245Just heard back from David Cormack with a positive reply to our request….
He says he will get in touch regarding a TRF mini-league and when he hears back and gets the time he will drum up a bit of PR around it to encourage more players.Thank you David

Meanwhile look out for more bonus races in the next couple of days, couple of nice Group 2’s coming up on Thursday.
