The Storyteller runs in the Grade 3 novice chase at Punchestown tomorrow, looks an excellent Grade 3 with outsider of the field Arbre De Vie rated a 144 rated horse.

Good win for Fountains Windfall. Looked a little cautious at a few but that’s to be expected after two falls. However, the clear round should have done him wonders.

Not the biggest but has an engine.

I agree MarkTT – I liked the performance so much so I put a few hard earned pounds down on Fountains Windfall for this race. I don’t think the RSA is going to be a particularly strong race this year and he seems to be as good as any other horse perhaps with the exception of Monalee but I think he’ll be heading to the JLT.

Delighted with old Fountains Windfall today – proved that he is essentially a good jumper and showed a bit more intelligence when not quite on a stride too. Maybe his previous spills will be blessings in disguise.

You take a chance when you back a Mullins horse ante-post.Looks like you have taken 2 chances. Best of luck with them. I reckon Invitation Only to the JLT and Getabird to the Ballymore but I could be way off.

AN impressive win by Presenting Percy in a 3 mile Grade 2 Hurdle Race on heavy ground in Gowran.

The only thing with Percy is the run where he finished 12L behind Jury Duty and Shatttered Love. It’s a pity that Monalee fell and brought Rathvinden down over Xmas as that would have told us a lot about the credentials of Shattered Love and Jury Duty.

Hopefully they all stand up next weekend in Leopardstown and we get a better idea

I fancied Monalee before that Presenting Percy performance today.

    I don’t fancy him anymore!

    why was it so impressive?

He won nicely but he only beat Augusta Kate & Diamond Cauchois.

Putting a horse over hurdles as a prep for the RSA makes me want to take him on every day of the week, especially at 7/2 Fav.

Yeah im under the same mindset, headlines indicate he won it “easily” but that was not easily by any means,

Hes probably ran to his hurdles rating, not improved on it by any means, hes way, way too short now for this

His most impressive win was over 3m5, i dont like him for this atall. Hoping russell does not convince connections of monalee to go jlt.

It seems I’m more convinced by Presenting Percy than some. I actually think he looks very
decent, and I took him at 6/1 for the RSA before his Gowran Park win, and just in case someone
thinks I’m guilty of horrendous aftertiming here, I put him up at that price in Pat’s ante post
competition the night before the race. I take Vautour’s point that it was a disappointing run
behind Jury Duty at Punchestown, but there’s not a horse (or hardly) that hasn’t run below par
at some time. I also take Ham’s point that he was probably most impressive over 3m 5f at
Fairyhouse. I don’t take that as a negative point, I think that the 3m 1/2f at Cheltenham,
with the likely strong pace that will be set, and the hill that has cost many a likely looking
winner the race in the last 1/2f will play to his strengths. I though (imo) that he ran a decent
race at GP, traveled well and when he was asked after the last he drew away.

It could be said, and Kev has, that he didn’t beat much today (or yesterday now), but the same
was being said continuously of Unowhatimeanharry last year, and he just kept winning. Okay, it
didn’t go well for him at the festival, but he wasn’t right that day. He put that right at the
Punchestown Festival in the Champion Stayers Hurdle.

He’s as short as 3/1, is that too short with 6 weeks to go ?…..probably. I do however think he
is rightfully favourite, and I think he has every chance of taking this. A few good judges clocked
him a good while back, Vautour who mentioned him at 14s (I wish I had taken some of that)
Bobby (VTC) and Joe (Steeplechasing) also put a favourable word in for him.

I’m very keen on his chances :good:

Presenting Percy is a nice horse to own however out of all the favs is my lay of the meeting for this race. Got found out 3 starts ago so to make him look good they run him in a handicap chase he was entitled to win if he stayed, and a hurdle race on heavy ground for an RSA chase prep is a strange one.
Davy Russell was interviewed about him and even he has doubts he’s a grade 1 3m chaser when grilled by Matt Chapman.
They should run him in the 4 miler he can with that. Won’t win this in my opinion. Just you watch.

Mike007, worth bearing in mind that Mr. Russell was interviewed by CH4 in the changing rooms at Cheltenham last year before going out for the Pertemps Hurdle. Asked about his chances he said along the lines of ” he lost his chance of winning now because the handicapper has clobbered him with extra weight. ”

I really really remember that comment, it cost me a fair few pounds that afternoon

At first glance the RSA does look a pretty poor race..if Al Boum Photo goes here or to the JLT i will follow him….

But, as for the Presenting Percy, hes certainly far too short for me. I have my doubts about him in a proper G1 race…saying that, i have just said the RSA looks pretty weak. I would still take Monalee ahead of him. His win yesterday was about G3 open company level for me. For all he won it nicely.
