Hayley Turner at this stage doesn’t even seem as if she is trying to be good …. And I’m afraid she isn’t.

I used to defend Rishi on here but lately he seems to rely on ‘ explain what it feels like to….’ type questions.Poor

Graham Cunningham and McGrath aren’tnatural presenting to camera people but they are knowledgable and do their homework on form in particular and will take some bettering in that respect.

Looks like bland talking heads are the order of the day on this evidence.

With the greatest respect for the fact that he is unwell and how serious depression can be I’m surprised that he has made this decision whilst in a state of depression and it would be no surprise if when he recovers which I sincerely hope he will he can make a comeback …..even in his early 50s ……and finish on his own terms.

This stinks as much as the team tactics in the 2008 Juddmonte ( won by Duke Of Marmalade) did only this was compounded by the soft finish that Heffernan rode on the runner up . It is blatant not running horses on their merits and non trying and it shames the sport if nothing is done about it…….and the last thing we need to hear is O’Brien’s inane witterings that have their usual pitifully low levels of genuine worthwhile content.Inexcusable and offensive.

I think there is a serious danger of change for changes sake here… Martin Kelly is a bland talking head . For me you can’t beat Nick Luck as a front man ( totally knows his stuff ) and Graham Cunningham is an excellent pundit ( witty informed and encapsulates form really well)…there is nobody that equals either of them in their current roles in my opinion.

Standby for a wind op for AFB or worse still immediate retirement to protect his stallion value….

Looked a bit hot headed on L’ami Serge today when diving into the lead and immediately and predictably hanging left only to fade and finish 3rd.Keeping the horse close to the rail for a later challenge would have been a better plan.

Getting some 1st rate opportunities but doesn’t look like a day in day out jockey to me and certainly not champion material on what I’ve seen so far.

I wish i had said at the time that I didn’t understand why he would give up the Henderson association to ride for JP…..the quality of the Henderson horses is much higher IMO and has been for the longest time….it must have been a decision based on the money offered and also personal circumstances i.e living in Ireland but look at what he has missed out on in terms of quality….sounds like after timing but I genuinely did think so at the time of Sir AP’s retirement…I don’t think there has ever been more than a trickle of genuine top quality JP horses virtually throughout AP’s career that have been owned by JP and so it continues…..

I was a Claire fan but since her career took off her input into her racing anchor work isn’t what it used to be … I’m not even enjoying her interviews with connections as much as I used to … Sounds like she’s going through the motions.

Graham Cunningham and Nick Luck are excellent.

8/11 to be outside the first 10 is looking like value to me.

I agree with the above … I don’t think 90% plus of the population are interested in watching anything much outside of the Grand National regardless of who presents the programme.

I like the majority of what C4 do re horse racing currently and I think it would be hard to improve on very much but the fact is that unless people have had a bet they are not going to be interested in watching a racing programme.

While your general point – that ITV will seek to put together a diverse team – is fine, your use of the word ‘ethnic’ as a noun is not.

Thanks for putting this so succinctly ….a discussion on ethnicity of presenters is totally irrelevant to this discussion and people like Steve who take the opportunity to shoehorn it in and suggest that ‘ethnics’ being represented is a fact and a truth are basically taking a racist position in the sense that they have an inappropriate fixation on an irrelevant aspect of a discussion using unenlightened dated and dehumanising terms .

Tony Ennis ? You can’t be serious! Utterly bland and totally without a sense of humour just like the other ATR course reporter Simon Mapletoft who is so determinedly straight laced and never ever says anything even remotely amusing.

Am I the only one who smells a very dodgy rat on this forum when people post patronisingly about ‘ethnic’ presenters as if they are talking about some kinf of special needs group or sub class …..annoying and very offensive .

There is no bigger fan of Sir Tony’s than me but I have my doubts about what he can contribute as a regular broadcaster on past form……he is a fantastic jockey but so was Lester and frankly you wouldn’t be signing either of them up despite their megawatt star quality.

Channel 4 of course can always do a lot worse …Geoff Banks,Tanya Stevenson and Mick Fitzgerald are all terrible and where have they got Nick Lightfoot from……he is the dullest voiceover man I have ever heard and brings nothing…who next? Simon Mapletoft? Dull dull dull……..they are killing it as a programme.

Farcical and a really sad indictment of the state of stewarding.

The filly wouldn’t have won the race at all if Atenzi hadn’t deliberately barged his way out in the first place…

Its an easy problem to solve….if jockeys barge their way out they are disqualified plain and simple….it would stop immediately.

No bigger fan of Lester as a jockey than me but don’t know where any notion about him being a good tipster comes from.

For some he tarnished his reputation for predictable reasons by putting his name to a tipping line when he retired and if he had anything to do with the selections at that time they were absolutely awful by all accounts.

In addition I have yet to read anything particularly inspired on the few occaisions that Lester is interviewed or quoted on his opinion of big races….living up to his reputation he probably says the highly predictable first idea that comes into his head just to get the interview over with.

Great jockey obviously and a star quality mystique that surrounds him that nobody probably even he can put their finger on but thus far nothing much to say or listen to.

…..Shouldn’t be reversed. The interference looked worth more than the winning distance ,we need to get away from the win at all costs jockey mentality.Atenzi had ridden himself into a pocket and had to push his way out and then for the 2nd bit of interference he had failed to switch his whip into the correct hand to prevent it.
Correct disqualification in my view given the winning distance and Atzeni should get a ban aswell.

In terms of the rules barging your way out should be outlawed and then jockeys wouldn’t do it because they know they’ll get disqualified….should have happened to Peslier on the Queens horse at Goodwood easy winner or not.
