They’re coverage of racing is coming to an end and by some of the things coming out of Claire’s mouth the sooner the better. Describing the morning line as un-missable! no Claire, I’m a racing fan and I want to hear more discussions at the festival races not watch some Go karting from reading. After Altior won the first yesterday saying the bookies must be laughing; hardly when it was second favourite and backed down. There have been several others but potentially one of the worst was after Splinter Sacre won the Champion chase and she mentioned he had the initials SS – wondered where she was going with that!
March 16, 2016 at 17:04 #1238066I think she is doing very well thank you.
What do you expect her to say about The Morning Line?
It is crap don’t watch it?
She is a very competent and articulate presenter of many sports she is involved with.
March 16, 2016 at 17:08 #1238069It’s fairly poor between herself and plunkett
March 16, 2016 at 17:20 #1238072I don’t watch the morning Line anymore, tuned in yesterday as it’s the festival and was hoping for previews on all the races but….
The channel four coverage has gone downhill for a long time now; comes to something when Nick luck starts to go through the runners for each race but they’re trying to rush through the runners and riders as quickly as possible.
Must have upset or priced Coral’s out of advertising space as well, as I didn’t see any of their adverts before the Coral cup and hardly any preview of it.March 16, 2016 at 17:35 #1238077Never mind Claire – what about Stewart Machin? Sprinter Sacre wins the Champion Chase and you’d have thought someone had died, no emotion, no passion. RUK need to replace him with someone that captures the moment. Shocking, absolutely shocking.
March 16, 2016 at 18:04 #1238087Claire balding is just a drag; those plummy tines convey no excitement whatsoever
March 16, 2016 at 18:14 #1238096I was a Claire fan but since her career took off her input into her racing anchor work isn’t what it used to be … I’m not even enjoying her interviews with connections as much as I used to … Sounds like she’s going through the motions.
Graham Cunningham and Nick Luck are excellent.
March 16, 2016 at 18:22 #1238101I somehow got the impression after the QM that CB had done her dough on the fav
March 16, 2016 at 18:23 #1238102Opinions differ – I can’t stand Luck and have to change channels when he appears.
March 16, 2016 at 19:25 #1238133I think Clare is a good broadcaster, but agree it feels a bit like she has left racing behind for more glamorous assignments.
I actually think almost all of the Channel 4 team are fine, though the programme needs to have more confidence in and emphasis on its core product.
March 16, 2016 at 20:59 #1238167Us in racing want more horse coverage and less people, fed up with only getting to see the favourites before each race and that is only briefly. As for Clare Balding she is so patronizing and pushy, pointing and prodding, she was okay when she was a young woman, now she has a huge ego like most, up themselves, presenters. Persad the same, just coming out with the same boring phrases. Last year at one of the televised meetings there was a loose one and Clare Balding loudly said,”It`s absolutely terrifying” she must surely have forgotten her early days riding out with her fathers string, unless they were all on ACP pills !!!
Alice Plunkett is a breath of fresh air,all the jocks enjoy talking to her because she is a really nice person and doesn`t say stupid things.March 16, 2016 at 22:23 #1238193Flipping heck, Alice Plunkett a breath of fresh air?
More like a breath of chernobyl air.March 17, 2016 at 05:25 #1238262I was a Claire fan but since her career took off her input into her racing anchor work isn’t what it used to be … I’m not even enjoying her interviews with connections as much as I used to … Sounds like she’s going through the motions.
I’d agree with that although I’ve never been a fan. She came out with this particular gem prior to the Coral Cup, could have been straight out of the Stevenson book of moronic stats.
“Favourites have a terrible record in the race, you might be best concentrating on the top weights and bottom weights”.
I’m not keen of interviews between races on RUK particularly when they’re done at the expense of seeing the horses in the paddock for the following race but thought Lydia Hislop did a great job yesterday in the paddock (she’s better without a sidekick) and her interview with Henderson was top notch. Balding, Persad and Plunkett are all sadly lacking in this area.
