In the case of c} i would depend on if it was a 5f sprint else they might have allready finished

reet hard
Continuing to play devil’s advocate here, what would happen if a horse decided to amble out of the stalls/over the start line
a) 5 seconds after the others
b) 15 seconds after the others
c) 1 minute after the others? While it’s clearly been argued that the current solution isn’t perfect, it is reasonably clear that if a horse lines up it’s a runner. Yes, you probably can throw the oddity or two at me on that one (Bellvano at Kempton comes to mind) but it’s a good deal more clear cut.
Rob
A Runner in each case , but if he does it again BANNED
They were at some stage in the race, S & DP weren’t. Horses with known quirks shouldn’t be on a racecourse, they could be considered dangerous. It’s difficult, but it looks so bad, two of the best handicaps on the day with two Fancied runners! It’s very bad PR not that i’m into that ****. There must be a sensible way of sorting this out in both codes. Surely bookies could give a free bets to limited stakes to keep the public happy. The authorities have to be harsher on problem horses too.
Would their perspicacity have also told them that Spectait was about to rear over backwards, PC?
If you bet seriously you have to factor in a percentage allowance for the unexpected. With Don’t Panic there was at least some previous to consider.

If you bet seriously, how many actually do? against the multitude that don’t.
Is anyone able to shed any light on the strange paradox of the Doncaster ground for the past 2 days?
Though the RP haven’t yet published it, their time-based ground looks almost certain to agree with the official description of g/f, but was it?
Apart from the well-publicised prevarication over Expresso Star’s participation in the Lincoln, and the eleventh hour decision to run, a number of those at the meeting expressed views that the ground was either "dead" or that "the rain had got onto the top 2 inches", yet nowhere is that supported by race times.
Aside from the Gosden connections, there is also the view stated by trainers such as Brian Meehan (Manassas) :"The ground suited him – he wanted cut and he got it".
and Richard Fahey (Mister Hardy):
"We thought that he was best on soft ground, but although its good to firm, there’s plenty of moisture in it".
, so just what was the real going?
The most worrying thing is that it isn’t just a phenomenon curious to Doncaster; Ascot already rides differently on the straight course (Also with new drainage recently installed) to the round, and another grade 1 flat track may also be about to join them when York opens its doors for the May meeting.
Are there any clockers, or maybe Robert99, who could enlighten us on the true position?September 04 Miracle surface course records all over the place similar going if i remember correctly. It was attributed to the rain giving it a springy ness to it, i think that was said at the time. Yup mister hardy certainly had me scratching my head.
Just adds fuel to the dodgy stereotypes applied to racing. I love racing but as far as trusting the sport i’d rather leave Uri Geller in charge of a priceless cutlery set.
I understand people wanting their money back but where does it come from?
Don’t Panic went into the stalls and as such made up X% of the book ie. other horses were bigger as a result of DP coming under starters orders.
Should winning punters have a Rule 4 on their bets so that we can refund all the Don’t Panic backers?
Spectait was fine too Seabird

1st day of the flat maybe some first time punters on Spectait nice string of 1’s and Don’t Panic fancied in places, are going to have a great oppotunity to learn early it’s a mugs game and sometimes your horse doesn’t even start. BENT is the first thing on their minds, not a % book. What about double winners bookies cough up for that. They know in the long term they are going to get it back.
I tend to agree with both sides of the argument so maybe a free bet to stakes a more agreeable solution.
Not a great start but at least i could find the winners after the race
I am still usually scratching my head after the jumping stuff. managed to get 12’s on a 22/1 winner so not all bad. Goodbye to NAD about as profitable as NH to me so not to worry. Noverre to go (when i have to ask myself) maybe when the cash is on forward motion. I’ve heard of flip starts but aren’t they supposed to be without stalls, hope all involved ok. Don’t panic well named there plenty of other races to indulge in when your ready!Chjimes may not have won at Wolves yet and the stable form may look a bit ropey but the horse has won 4 of his last 5 starts on polytrack, three of them at class 4 over tonight’s distance and in fast times too.
The only loss in his last 5 races was with a different jockey and not a clear run and over a furlong extra, not that the extra furlong is a problem for the horse.
At 7/1 the win it’s a great price tonight in my opinion for a win and place bet.
I like following polytrack sprinters that are in form and posting fast times, though it is difficult to know when they are going to stop their run, like Matsunosuke has just found out.
Good luck with Little Edward, it’s Chjimes for me.
I came round to giving chjimes the benefit because of recent form, shame we were the only two by the look of it. Luckily i doubled up with one that was pulled up in the last: so much for lucky numbers

I don’t believe there is any bias on a fair course such as Doncaster, but I’d bet diamonds that the jockeys create one toward the stand side in a fast ground Lincoln?A fair course, no we can’t have that, dig it up and try again

A wednesday Derby with a 6pm start? Would be radical but I’d be happy with that.
As long as it’s not on the beeb, they certainly know how to kill whatever excitement the day throws up. give me a handicap any day as long as its not on the side of a hill. Sorry freak show IMO. So it was,is, whatever!
Did the redevelopment effect the track much. Someone was bleating on about the bias being nullified. Your territory Reet, i am too battered to bother these days.
Jeff Stelling is Mr soccer saturday, how he makes entertainment out of poor "experts" amazes me. For me on a saturday if me accers still running i’l watch the races, if not it’s Jeff suffering another beating from his beloved Hartlepool. The battery powered James Brown is far more entertaining than Thommo and gang. Have to agree with most of the rest though Max, good post.

Not sure about that, i would rather say they are the most manipulated section!
Because of this belief they are allowed to do so IMOMe stats are knackered me pockets are empty but we had the best possible result a clean and emphatic conclusion to all the iffing and butting. There can be no complaints well done Kauto Star.
There was a discussion on the following years derby i think it was January 06 for the 07 Derby. I quicky scrolled through the breeding and one stood out. I rushed off to the bookies to have a token bet, just in case
. WH couldn’t give me a price and Ladbrokes offered 50/1 !! As it was for fun i took the odds!!! i am not sure if the horse has ever won a raceRock Of Gibraltar (IRE) (8.9f) — Imagine (IRE) (Sadler´s Wells (USA) (11.3f))
Red Rock Canyon still a maiden.
