I backed it last time it didn’t leave the stalls and I didn’t get anything back that was will Will Hills.
March 28, 2009 at 22:07 #218943I find that incredable

To Gamble is to win or lose
If the horse didnt leave the stalls, you cant win so you cant lose, thats piss poor.
March 28, 2009 at 22:49 #218955Very frustrating for those who have backed him.
March 28, 2009 at 22:54 #218957Sadly, that’s the way it goes, Ghost.
Similar to a jumper refusing to race when the tape goes up.
This horse did have "previous".
March 28, 2009 at 22:54 #218958Annoying though it may be losing in this way, Don’t Panic had come under starter’s orders and was therefore deemed a runner.
Had it (D.P. is a gelding)
refused to enter the stalls it would not have come under starter’s orders and your dad would have had his stake refunded.March 28, 2009 at 23:15 #218965Some bookmakers will offer a concession, i believe boylesports refunded losing stakes.
Once the stalls have opened the race starts and if the horse refuses to run then thats just tough you’ve done your money. Don’t Panic refused to race his last race of the season in 2008 at Newmarket so there was a question over him in that respect. It would be unfair to other punters if he was deemed a non-runner say and it was 16 runners 4 places and suddenly became 15 runners 3 places and punters would miss out on each way money for the horse finishing 4th.
March 28, 2009 at 23:30 #218969I blame the jockey.

Was Spectait OK after his acrobatics?

March 28, 2009 at 23:42 #218971I had to chuckle at the things that PCH said about the horse on The Morning Line, something like ‘I’ve been putting him in the stalls a lot at home; not actually with him because we wouldn’t both fit in’.
March 29, 2009 at 02:34 #219021It all brings to mind the old Hamlet cigar advertisement!
March 29, 2009 at 04:07 #219031Don’t Panic is a prime example of a horse that does not run in a race yet is deemed a starter – racing really needs to sort this out.
I applaud the bookies that refund punters stakes – it’s the decent thing.

March 29, 2009 at 04:17 #219036I tend to agree with both sides of the argument so maybe a free bet to stakes a more agreeable solution.
March 29, 2009 at 12:33 #219056I cannot understand why people like McCririck believe the start of a race is not part of the race, why should any horse be deemed a non runner because it fluffs the start, this is one thing racing has right.
March 29, 2009 at 13:10 #219059I understand people wanting their money back but where does it come from?
Don’t Panic went into the stalls and as such made up X% of the book ie. other horses were bigger as a result of DP coming under starters orders.
Should winning punters have a Rule 4 on their bets so that we can refund all the Don’t Panic backers?
Spectait was fine too Seabird

1st day of the flat maybe some first time punters on Spectait nice string of 1’s and Don’t Panic fancied in places, are going to have a great oppotunity to learn early it’s a mugs game and sometimes your horse doesn’t even start. BENT is the first thing on their minds, not a % book. What about double winners bookies cough up for that. They know in the long term they are going to get it back.

Completely disagree!
If a horse doesn’t cross the starting line, then it’s never been in the race, period.March 29, 2009 at 16:16 #219090I backed Don’t Panic and I don’t feel hard done by at all. Of course he crossed the starting line…he was in the stalls when they opened!
