I usually stop at Dullingham to eat on my way to Newmarket if going during the week. Food is OK in the Kings Head. The Beer is better in the Boot.

Best to go in the Members at the July course. Its a long walk around otherwise.

As to accommodation, I would say its better to stay in Cambridge. Get the bus to the course.
I had this problem some time ago, surf control would click in. I pointed out that the Racing Post is part of our free press and I was not happy with my Newspaper reading being interfered with in my lunchtime and had no more problems. Also Godolphin is run by someone who does not drink alcohol and has no gambling in his country as far as I know, access to that site was given back quite quickly. Try giving a winning tip to the IT management, that might help your cause !
We used to have a Ridley’s brewery nearby but Greene King bought it out and destroyed the equipment and now only brew Ridleys to sell as a guest beer…….just thought you might like to know about this.

    The Curragh,
had a great few days there when Vintage Tipple won the Oaks, Kildare doesn’t look much of a town but I had good meals there. Went to the Irish National Stud and stayed 6 hours.

    Longchamp,
last year when Hurricane Run won the Arc, the Landlord of our pub tried to hurdle the fence around a champagne bar and fell !, I liked the marquee across the road afterwards, very cheap food and drink.

Garrison Savannah in Barbados, went on Diamond Day see september archive at http://www.threenaps.blogspot.com
Milan winning the leger
Dubai Millennium winning the Prince of Wales
Montjeu winning the King George
Sakhee winning the International

Many good memories of top quality horses beating others by lengths, but also I’ll not forget my first win when Primo Valentino won the Middle Park in 1999 or Blue Velvet winning the handicap that day which was the first time I ever went racing. Nor will I forget the one that started my obsession with racing when asking myself the question "why did Beat Hollow win" at Newmarket, before he came 3rd in Sinndar’s Derby. Its been a fascinating highly enjoyable, (quite expensive at times) learning curve.
Yes you are correct about the toilet block! it was the pavilion, its just that recently there has been scaffolding around it whilst being refurbished.

Some of the delay I think has been down to the County Councils miserly offer of compensation for land taken for the Gt Leighs bypass and the legal battle that followed and arguments about underpasses, and due also to the need to purchase more land at the back of the site for the planned training stables, delaying decisions on where the track would actually be placed. The opening will most likely be put back, as you say all you can see is the scaffolding that is around a large hole in the ground where the grandstand will be built and loads of earth from removing soil where the track will be.

It may well be low level racing under floodlights when it starts but as its only 7 miles up the road for me, I shall be happy to give it a chance, hopefully it will be a good day or evening out.

As far as catering goes it won’t have to do much to beat the overpriced low standards set in the Grandstand and paddock areas at Racing’s headquarters in Newmarket. Also its location is easy enough to travel to and from, either by car or by bus from Chelmsford train station.

My sympathy goes to all at Coolmore and Ballydoyle for their loss and may Horatio Nelson rest in peace.

On the 16/5/2003 Danehill died, he was a good Sire but had not, as far as I know, become a Sire of Sires.

Since 2000 the only group 1 races for 3 year olds and above in England and Ireland between 8f and 12f won by a horse sired by a son of Danehill were won by Where or When and Speciosa both at 8f.The Sire being Danehill Dancer.

Danehill himself has had in this time 3 year old Group 1 winners, the Great Rock of Gibraltar, George Washington, Oratorio, North Light and the Fillies Banks Hill and Punctilious.

At present no one can say that any of the males above will become good stallions carrying on Danehills bloodline and producing Classic and other group 1 winners.

Last year as 2 year olds from his last crop Coolmore raced quite a few Danehill colts, George Washington ,Horatio Nelson, Ivan Denisovitch,Dylan Thomas,Aussie Rules Altius, and Marcus Andronicus being those that achieved Group wins.

However I would imagine that it’s the performance as a 3 year old that determines whether Owners/Breeders will want to send the best mares to be covered by a stallion.
The pressure is then on to win the Classics, and the other major Group 1’s, so that Danehills bloodline will continue to be a major force in the breeding of the Thoroughbred.

The desire to achieve these goals and succeed puts pressure on all concerned and in the pursuit of excellence the risk of accidents occurring becomes greater because of trying to go that bit further.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss.I am new here and did not know Daylight.
I think from reading so many posts from all the long term members that he had earned a lot of respect for his contribution to this forum.
May he rest in peace.
