racing history question

i have been given an old racing book, history of the st leger stakes by j s fletcher.  i believe it’s a first edition (1902) and inside front cover is handwritten gift message to william i’anson (jr, the son of the trainer of blink bonny) and his wife, wishing them well in their new training stable at highfield.  my guess is the bookshop in sussex did not recognise this provenance but my question is has anyone heard of the person who gave the book to william i’anson ?

the persons name looks like h j clayton and the message was written i think in 1907

h j clayton – any clues ?
