Gutted to see the end of the competition, as it really kepy my interest over the entire season. Have had some luck in the past, finishing in the top 10 on the flat around 7 years ago, winning the May mothly prize this year, and finishing 8th overall as JOCI Club.
Shall now be having a crack at the William Hill ‘The Jumps’ game instead.

Doomsday Afternoon by Phideaux (best album of 2007)
Think Sageburg shouldn’t be underestimated. It was a visually impressive finish to my eyes and he looks to have stepped up significantly on his debut behind Duke of Marmalade. Think 10 furlongs may be his best trip though…not sure about 12 furlongs for him (though he wasn’t stopping at the end)
Personally I hope Brian Harding gets the nod, if only because he was good enough to invite me along to Greystoke for a stable tour and to watch the horses gallop where I got to meet Nicky Richards, and also horses like Monet’s Garden, Faasel and Premier Dane. Also accompanied Brian to Newcastle races that day (Eider day) and got an all access badge, and had a tour of the weighing room, and had a couple of beers after with some of the jocks e..g Richie McGrath.
Also, has been a good servant to the yard and that may count for something with Mr Richards.
I’ve backed Idole First at decent odds on the exchanges and see L’Antartique as the danger. Could hardly separate the two on my system.
Today, whilst painting my kitchen, I listened to the following magical albums, recorded 30 years apart:
Locanda Delle Fate – Forse Le Lucciole Non Si Amano Più (1977)
Review below courtesy of ProgArchives:
Locanda delle Fate was an Italian band from Asti that had been playing covers and listening to other prog band’s music for a long time before the release of this album with their own compositions… You can find here many influences but all these influences are blended together with a romantic and “original touchâ€
I met an asthmatic lesbian the other day…she told me she could only catch her breath in snatches….
Think I’ll plump for Viking Flagship for his sheer toughness and the number of memorable battles he had with the other top horses around at the time e.g. Deep Sensation, Martha’s Son, Sound Man etc.
Also really liked the admirable grey Suny Bay, and have reserved a small corner for Puntal who gave me my biggest win to date when lifting the Betfred Gold Cup (was it still the Whitbread then)?
is George Washington going over? Would love to see him in the Mile, Dylan Thomas in the Turf and Peeping Fawn in the Fillie and Mares. Ballydoyle Treble!!
I expect George Washington to go as he’s not exactly rushed off his feet with mares to cover. What else is there for the poor bugger to do.It will take his mind off things too which may help

Please let them take him over thereby bypassing the Champion Stakes, as he could scupper our plans of a top 3 finish in the Flat Ten To Follow competition (currently in 4th).
Nicholls’s ex winning pointer Nevada Royale (already mentioned above by someone too)
Polity Agent by Neal Asher – hard edged sci-fi
I have to offer a different opinion as I find him very entertaining and does a lot for the sport with his enthusiasm and jovial (sometime juvenile) antics!
Hope it’s speculation, first and foremost because I’d like to see the next potential equine superstar on the track this season, and secondly, because I took the gamble on Betfair and invested in him at 5.3/1 only to find out later (11.15pm) that he’s back into 3.3/1. If he shows up, 5.3/1 will be a good price on the day….(maybe)
Good news it’s not serious and let’s hope he’s back on track next season
