Certainly a race where form maybe tricky to read and a muddling tempo did no favours as Belle Et Celebre led from barrier to box.

If anything, the horse to watch would be Proviso, on seasonal debut and first time to 1m2f. She was last and flat at the top of the straight, hard ridden but eventually found her footing. I think she peaked a long way out and/or had no zip and was left wanting. Either way, they shouldn’t gallop along that pedestrian-like at Chantilly and she will be worth Diane consideration.

The d’Ispahan was run for every horse to be given every possible. Literato was being outpaced on the turn and I guess a little more ground to cover + need another run or two after Dubai is necessary.

I think even the 1850m was too much for Darjina. Sageburg zipped straight past her, and he is more the middle distance horse than Darjina is.

i just think that Darjina has become a bit disappointing. Was there any feedback from connections regarding the run?

Think Sageburg shouldn’t be underestimated. It was a visually impressive finish to my eyes and he looks to have stepped up significantly on his debut behind Duke of Marmalade. Think 10 furlongs may be his best trip though…not sure about 12 furlongs for him (though he wasn’t stopping at the end)
