I`ve never been so upset about a horse not coming home for a long while .
Bacchanal :crying:
I think it`s fair to say , on reflection , that Baracouda was never in front at any stage Ian .
Other opinions seem to back up my original hunch , not that it is important but I just like to get these things straight .
Ian , did Baracouda actually get his head in front ? I`m not so sure , I thought he got to within a head or a neck then Deanos found a bit extra in the last 75 yards , the angle was slightly inconclusive .
Swap jockeys = different result , but that doesn`t necessarily mean T.D. lost the race it just means A.P. won it .
If that makes any sense !
Beaker and Jim , I don`t see what your problem is , The Quads ran the course well and finished strongly to win 13K , the connections are probably still partying now .
A placepot race only for me but a few backed the winner in my local shop and they were well pleased .
You can stick all weather up your a*** as far as I`m concerned . A novelty race yes but boring no .
Horses and jockeys risking life and limb around Cheltenham is not boring and never will be .
Caveat = warning , thanks to Mr. Cotrell for being a good Latin teacher , circa 1979 , R.I.P. Mr. Cotrell.
Great to see a few p2p fans on here .
Looking forward to " The Big One " Sunday January 5th .
There is a bit of jumps racing over Christmas and New Year but all the people that matter are looking forward to the big day .
****** COTTENHAM ******
Everyone who is anyone will be there ,…. err that`s me and Adrian so far … but the heaving masses of the pointing world will be champing at the bit for the main event to kick the new year into action .
Tweed caps and Labradors optional .
RD , I saw the race but didn`t have a bet as I hate the all-weather , so can view the race impartially .
It was in a hopeless position very early , as you suggest , kept on the rails throughout and was absolutely covered in muck from the continuous kickback .
It made up a lot of ground , possibly as much as 10 lengths in the closing stages to finish 5th just out of the place money beaten 2 or 3 lenths by Shore Vision .
Whilst not being Chris Catlins` finest hour , I would suggest to you that there are twenty better examples of dodgy goings on on a weekly basis than this example , minimum .
You didn`t ever have a chance of collecting , which is obviously disappointing but I feel you may have gone overboard considering the horse got a 6 lb penalty for winning a fairly dreadful race last time out .
Just my opinion .
Sal I`m fairly sure you mean Little Amin, ridden by Dean Mernagh I think.
Backed down from 20/1 to 8/1 , won by a short head.
I helped myself to 16/1 after a little birdie whispered in my ear it was fit and fancied.
I can`t offer any statstics but Karl Burke is obviously a very shrewd man and I always pay attention to gambles on his horses.
I`m quite surprised Dave Smith or Mark Winstanley have not been mentioned so far , both useless.
For a racing channel afternoon ,I`d choose Mike Cattermole , Jim Culloty (tipped me a lovely 14/1 winner a while back), and a man with a lot of charisma , Gary Wiltshire.
Absolutely ideal.
Alex Hammond would make the teas of course.
Happy Jack, how on earth can you nominate Alex Hammond in this category?
Francome , fair enough, but that`s totally unwarranted.
She does her best,bless her.
Carson winds me up whenever I see or hear him,Thompson should be banished to Outer Mongolia (apologies to any Mongolians out there ).
Kathy, you said that this thread is read by lots of people who have not contributed, like myself, untill now that is.
I liken this thread to "rubber-necking" at a car crash on the M25.
You don`t want to watch , but you just can`t help yourself……:cheesy:
Jim, …"races aren`t long and boring"….
Remember Terry Ramsden ? When asked exactly the same question he said he preferred the flat , because .."it was a quicker death ..".
Next time you back some 2 y o , that has been turned over in a 5 furlong race , by some 33/1 chance, remember Ramsdens words of wisdom .
That extra 5 minutes studying the next race could make all the difference .
One of the most enjoyable meetings I`ve been to in the last 2 years was a hunter meet one saturday night at Huntingdon.
The winning rider of one £1200 race did a Frankie style dismount in the winners enclosure.Pure joy on his face.
Now THATS entertainment.

Flagship, you`re not alone old bean.
Well said Deany , nobody can argue with that observation :buddy:
Always have preferred the jumps for gambling and as a spectacle.
I simply would not go to a flat meeting at Kempton , for example,it just leaves me cold.
Having said that, obviously it`s always a pleasure to go to Goodwood or the July Course at Newmarket, Ascot as well.
But give me a run of the mill meeting at Towcester , as opposed to whatever Bath,Yarmouth or any of the other gaff flat tracks have to offer , anytime.
I find the A.W. a little depressing personally.
