tvcatchup works fine on iphone, android and windows and is free!
1st race at Hamilton Thursday, winning odds 12/1 and a Tote payout of over £24. but as you say this is only 1 example!
There don’t appear to have many other big differences today, though short-priced winners mostly gave worse returns on the Tote, especially in small fields.
I ignore the Tote, not because it pays less but because I want to know the "value" by seeing the odds.
I’ll never forget Neptunes Collonges crossing the line in the Grand National and the look on Nicholls face as he frantically flicked through the racing programme to check how much prize money was on offer – his first thought was the trainers championship.
When they called the result he initially celebrated on his own.Pure tripe.
Some posters on here never miss a trick to emit their bile and spite. Precisely what has that post got to do with this topic?
Nicholls and Walsh have been good for each other and they have provided us with some magical moments, notably at Cheltenham. Let us just celebrate that. Kauto Star regaining the Gold Cup, Master Minded winning his first Champion Chase in style and Big Bucks’ 4 World Hurdles- unforgettable!
Balding was downright impudent when in conversation with the Sheik after his Guineas triumph. He rightly dismissed the manly Miss as did Hannon Snr. shortly afterwards, good on them ! I really wish there were more dog shows to keep the Channel 4 importee occupied and off the racing scene.
Gripe number two, perhaps I’ve not noticed it before but saw today on the Channel 4 graphics for the 1000 Guineas the distance marked as 1 Mile, beside this the distance was also marked as 1609 metres. There’s nothing more English than our five classics and their imperial distances so let’s keep it that way.You are so keen to air your vile personal comments that you completely omit any description of what you found objectionable and why.
I felt her questions to the Sheikh should have been confined to issues around Saturday’s race and his reaction to the final question was totally predictable and the abrupt ending avoidable.Backing Holywell resulted in a very profitable festival. Odds of 25-1 made it a very good value EW bet but I had not expected such an impressive run.
A couple of the other winners I had were for me the stars of the show and could be clashing at the 2014 event, The New One and Our Conor.
Dessie Hughes seems very bullish about Our Conor for the Champion Hurdle, and he was very impressive. However the sectional times for The New One suggest Our Conor won’t be having things all his own way.To be fair having watched the RUK replay programme this morning the only peron Lydia Hislop mentioned the subject to first was J P McManus which I regarded as showing empathy.
On all the other occasions in the post race interviews it was the interviewee that raised the subject if it was mentioned.
And the same at Uttoxeter on Saturday. I saw no agenda by the broadcasters here. When J P McManus was interviewed on Friday it was clear his mind was pre-occupied with the McNamara family, nothing to do with any pressure from the media.
how the thread resides in a section of the forum entitled "Horse Racing" is beyond me.
Because Clare Balding presents, er, horse racing?

But your persistent personal comments about her on several threads have absolutely nothing to do with horse racing.
You don’t like her! Get over it!
"Finally does a program called "Woman’s Hour" have a place in the 21st Century?"
When you read threads like this then definitely YES!
In any event, how the thread resides in a section of the forum entitled "Horse Racing" is beyond me.
But who would play Mill Reef?
Clare Balding
(especially if the role of Clare herself is to be played by either Kenneth Branagh or Brian Blessed).Any more suggestions for who would play Clare are welcome.
Willie Carson has apparently been suggested by one of the production teams for the proposed series on Clare’s life but Willie is thought to have ruled himself out because his voice isn’t deep enough.
Absolutely typical of the childish,mean-spirited comments that fills much of the thread. If you have something to say about the quality of the broadcasting then say it but leave the petty abuse to the chavs that populate Facebook
Hello Bud winning the Becher Chase at Aintree, sheer guts from a really brave horse and huge cheering from people, including me, from the grandstands.
Same for me, the here today gone tomorrow flat shooting stars rarely linger too long on the mind, though the brilliance of Sir Henry Cecil is another matter.
After Hello Bud’s race the comments of Sam Twiston-Davies reflected so much that national hunt racing has to offer its fans. The later decison to retire the horse was the icing on the cake!
Well, Sam seemed to imply last week that he wanted Bud to be retired, and it was NTD that started talking about the National. But, I still don’t know if the previous owners intended Bud to carry on racing when he was given to NTD. Sam has got a seriously sensible head on very young shoulders. Great lad.
The post-race interview with Sam last week showed the sport in the best possible light and I share your views of him.
Sadly, whatever the decision had been about Hello Bud running in the race, Grand National day 2013 will still prove a difficult one for jump racing. The fences and course have been changed many times but we all know that is no guarantee that every horse will return intact. That is the only outcome that will shut up the critics of the race.
I think they are taking things a bit too far
Why?
Ascot have every right to impose whatever dress code they see fit and I prefer to see standards such as they have at Ascot in preference to the appalling sights you see at most other racecourses, not least men wearing replica football strips when it is clearly obvious they have done no exercise since compulsory PE at school – do they not realise just how ridiculous they look?
Or the increasing number of idiots who turn up dressed as jockeys or pantomime horses or any other fancy dress.
And don’t get me started on the attire of some of the "ladies" who turn up at the races.
Ascot is a special racing occasion so why shouldn’t those attending be expected to make an effort in terms of what they wear.
If people don’t like the dress code they have the option not to go but I think you will find, once again, the numbers attending will suggest there are more than enough people happy to comply with the dress code.
People wearing replica football shirts look no more ridiculous than the assembly seen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on Saturday with their copious self-awarded medals on show. They have been more remote from the battlefield than the football fans you mention have been from exercise.
You are right though, Ascot have the right to choose their dresscode and there will be no shortage of paying customers, but how many will be going for the racing?
What you complain about is completely harmless, a missing tie damages nobody and there are far more important issues relating to behaviour that courses should be concentrating on.
This defence of all ‘sport carries risk’ that gets trotted out when horses die is about the shallowest argument among the handful that are persistently put up.
Nobody involved in a sport in which they themselves are at risk can complain if they are injured. The difficulty in horseracing is that the horses cannot opt out. Rugby players, boxers, mountaineers etc have a choice; a racehorse can’t say ‘no thanks’.
Nor can hamsters opt to live in cages (or not), or poodles object to being adorned with ribbons. To advance the argument of "choice" for any human/animal situation is just fatuous, as fatuous as complaints about fairness from a surfer about to be torn apart by a shark.
There is a drop down on the new news function that has top stories, guineas meeting, racing business, ground and weather watch etc. It’s only one button click, if you click on new archive it’s still the old style menu. Look harder?
Why would you look for today’s news in a "news archive"
Like Crusty, I wanted an update about going/abandonments which are easy to see on rival websites and on RP it was well-hidden.
The site is poor, it takes ages to load and they have now priced themselves above my willingness to pay, similarly the paper. Cancelled my subscription to the "members club" and buy the paper less often.
Racing is very fortunate it gets the coverage it does. This week we have had 4 days with nearly 4 hours coverage each afternoon and an hour in the morning and a late highlights programme – free to air! (The BBC would never provide this amount of time.)
Yes there are mistakes, yes some contributions are embarrassing but the virtues of the sport are shown nationwide for all to see. That is the main point, not the carping and nit-picking filling this thread.

For a gaff tracks no there is probably no need for a dress code but for the top tracks why not?
Why not have an enclosure with minimum standards, where people can pay a premium if they wish? As long as there is an alternative with a more relaxed dress code?
It is called choice and yes it does add to the occasion.
Pass the sickbag! Snobbery lives! The use of the terms gaff and top says it all.
Standards of behaviour are of far more concern to me than standards of dress. Only the very foolish would equate behaviour with dress. When I was a teacher there were frequent arguments about school uniform but the difference it made in terms of what happened in the classroom was zero, from my experience.
I don’t wear a tie, not through choice but as the result of an operation to treat throat cancer. I am not prepared to get into an argument with some course staff as to why I can’t meet the code.It is not a matter of choice!
