I think he might get picked up in the GC after jumping the last. Newbury is a flat and galloping track with no such tight turns as Cheltenham. Plus the extra two and a half furlongs, more experienced opposition and the fact that he might not be able to dominate from the front will make him very vulnerable.
The RSA seems the only logical choice to me. By the way I don’t have any ante post bets on either race. So this is no pocket talk at all.
But nevertheless he is a very exciting young horseFebruary 7, 2015 at 17:36 in reply to: Who will finish 2nd and 3rd in the Queen Mother Chase? #504530Let’s say that Sire de Grugy would come on for the run, but how can you rate Mr. Mole? He won today’s race in style and he also gave them a 10 length start!!! The best trials fo the QM are obviously the Tingle Creek plus the Clarence House and today’s race. All three won by Paul Nicholls trained horses. Now whch performance is the best one? I would go for the Clarence House since the very fast improving horse beat Somersby but a wider margin than in December. Plus his jumping is also better.
So a Nicholls one-two wouldn’t surprise me and you would get decent odds for the forecast.A 1st flight faller in his very next race! A very wise decision I guess
He’ll find some Irish lad…
Well, I think his mounts will shorten up even more since there are only three more months left.
Still can’t believe what an athlete he was: CHAMPION EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!!
WOWSo far ALL my subs have won!!!
But thank God the NAP was landed as wellI have never questioned her abilities and her passion for horses. But it was her first Rules runner for 7 years and a horse like him who never jumped for fun deserved a better fate. The care and improvement showed by one particular horse is something I respect, however it always seems to happen to a certain breed more often. And that is the Flat bred sort. If you look closer at French bred horses you will find out that they are more suitable for jumps racing. A better bone structure and more longevity than they used to have 20 years ago. That’s why NH owners should focus more on that breed. That is my point and I’m still waiting for that day when trainers or connections of a fatally injured horse will admit their fault. Until then these people will remain perfect human beings and a superior breed compared to the average citizen.

What a shame that his previous connections didn’t retire him. A very poor jumper even over hurdles and an absolute NON-chaser.
But I guess this always tends to happen when people get too over ambitious. He wasn’t supposed to be there (over fences) and training NH horses isn’t something you do just because you’re famous.
RIP Act of Kalanisi and how terrible that he died at such an young age!!!!I didn’t seriously suggest that he was trying to kill it. But if you take notice where the horse was with three to jump and then with two to jump, the only logical thing that comes to mind is that the horse should be or was pulled up.
Especially on heavy ground and even more on its first hurdles start. That’s what makes this matter look so ugly. And you should be allowed to describe the jockeys decision to jump the last flight as cruel and careless.True, this makes things even worse.
Obiwankenobi: I’m not talking about the Welsh National at all.
Just look at the result of the first race there. It wasn’t even a question of 4th place money since there were plenry of finishers ahead of this horse.
That’s why I’m so speechless about the fact that this ride went unmentioned through the racing papers.SPs every time she ran were 100-1 and higher. And in each of her three hurdle races she was already tailed off after the fourth flight. I don’t get it.
Her trainer – James Turner – has a rather good strike rate on the Flat: 22% winners in the last five years.
His jumpers are also doing alright over that same period of time.
But you never know what owners ask their trainers and furthermore their horses to do. Especially on ground that was first frozen overnight and then became heavy during the day.
Rest in Peace Filey BayOh dear, thanks for the news. What an exciting prospect he looked.
Hope he will make his mark over fences.1:15 Sandown: BRISTOL DE MAI

Sad to hear the news TAPK. I’m sure he had a good retirement and the first race that comes to mind is his win in the Prix L’Abbaye in 2002 where he just beat the italian horse by a very short head.
RIP ContinentExcellent piece of after timing. He is 9 years old and one of the worst hurdlers in the country. What is he doing on a race course? Does no one a favour and just stands in the way of another horses. Why not run him in a Grade 1 race? I bet some people would think he belongs there. Anyway, if he is nine years old with such a high profile pedigree you would expect him to have learned something about racing. This fellow hasn’t. Otherwise his form would be a tad better. And since the breed should improve and be of better quality every year, I wouldn’t to have his like on a race course. Give him the decent and long retirement he deserves and keep him away from the track.
But as I have already said: nice jump on the Montjeu bandwagon.- AuthorPosts
