Well, I think his mounts will shorten up even more since there are only three more months left.
Still can’t believe what an athlete he was: CHAMPION EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!!
    WOW

I think Rishi was thinking ‘Am I hearing right?’

Great champ and let’s hope he has a great Cheltenham and Aintree and gets out in one piece.

    Spot-on.

I wonder if he will go into training next season?

Mr Pilsen will have a wry smile at the news.
Lets hope the champ stays in one piece for the remainder of the season and can get another festival winner or two.

What an absolute machine of a man, won’t see his likes again. Anyone know if he’ll still be around for Punchestown?

I initially heard the Whitbread Gold Cup meeting at Sandown.

A 1st flight faller in his very next race! A very wise decision I guess

    RP article on it.

He says he wants to go while he’s still enjoying it and while he’s still near the top.

Near the top! He’s been THE MAN for nigh on 20 years. You simply can’t get more near the top than that.

If he goes ahead then I wish him a very happy retirement and will always remember his outstanding achievements in the sport I love.

Best wishes for the future AP.

McCoy has previously said he has no interest in training. Maybe he picked Channel 4 Racing for his announcement as the prelude to some sort of media career.

A stunning piece of live TV. I suspect that will silence the critics of post-race jockey interviews.

I’d be willing to bet you won’t see AP involved in racing in any way for three or four years – maybe longer. Depends how long his grieving period lasts.

That later interview was like listening to a man talk at his own funeral…heart-rending

At least he’s made the decision for himself, unlike Richard Dunwoody who had the decision made for him and never really got over it. I’ve never been McCoys greatest fan, but I have warmed to him over the years and I was moved to tears listening to him today. I just hope he gets to the end of the season in one piece and that everyone pulls together next year to let Dickie Johnson win the title.
