I think I can probably make it. Might have to give football a miss on the Saturday to get a pass for the Sunday, but I reckon I can make it!

Not every horse needs the whip. He seemed to be putting it all in but wasn’t quite as good as the winner on the day.

Absolutely nothing in the london area

    Awww …

    Where’s today’s Scottish racing? Or yesterday’s? Or tomorrow’s?

Approx 40% of the land mass of Britain and only one meeting in the period 21st Dec – 1st Jan.

    Steve
Yes and £20 for the privilege of getting in at Musselburgh tomorrow!

Quote: from Jane on 9:48 pm on Dec. 19, 2006[br]I was struggling too with Q37 so decided to search google images by the name of each horse. Looking at the possible answers you’ll see why this wasn’t a good idea!
Clue with that one was that the horse had number 2 on it, thus near the top of the weights. Hence look for winners who carried near top weight.

Sadly the ‘thwack!’ turned out to be yet another Warne delivery hitting off-stump

Mill House would have been remembered as one of the greatest chasers of the second half of the 20th century, yet he was put in the shade by Arkle. He carried 12-10 in the Massey Ferguson over 2m 4f and was just beaten given lumps of weight to two distance specialists, and that was a week after winning the Hennessy. Arkle gave a Gold Cup class horse in Stalbridge Colonist 35 pounds and was beaten a length the next year in the Hennessy. He thrashed the course record at Sandown in the Gallaher Gold Cup by seventeen seconds. He finished a close second on three legs in the King George.

In his 34 races under rules, he carried at least 12 stone in 23 of them but finished with a career total of 27 victories.

In my opinion there hasn’t been a better chaser in my lifetime.

…in a very one-sided betting marketplace how does an investigative author best disclose racing inside information strategy to the punting consumer in order to achieve a long overdue betting marketplace realignment?

You know, I simply haven’t the faintest.

    Is it with a five-iron?

Now then Mike, is there a teensy-weensy chance you aren’t taking this seriously?

A web search reveals that the Mildmay course was constructed in 1953, the same year as the motor racing circuit.

The fences were on the forerunner of the current Mildmay Course ‘Park fences’. They were a mini version of the National fences and were used for at least one race at the National meeting, a novice event I believe (Mildmay Novice Chase?), possibly including the second last on the National course plus the water jump.

I’ve a feeling the Queen Mother’s horse Chaou II won a race over the Mildmay fences.

That’s my memory of them, but hopefully someone can recall more.

……but so are many turf tracks, so I can’t see that this adds anything to the ‘anti-AW’ argument

I can’t remember the last time I bet at SP.

Most of my betting is done on-line, but I’d bet on-course more if I had the time to visit more meetings.
