Win – Chicago Pope
Each-way – AlaminosReserve – Postmodern
Skelton playing the system, enters 3 then pulls 2 out. One is because of the going, always a fair bet you can use that one…, the other has a bruised foot…, wonder when that happened?

7.42 Ballintubber Boy 148; Shallow River 146; American Mike 140The following is taken from the Epsom Stewards’ Report:
An enquiry was held into the start of this race and the participation of BENVENUTO CELLINI (IRE), drawn 12, ridden by Ryan Moore. The rider and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the start. The Stewards considered that the colt was prevented from starting on equal terms due to its left-hind leg being caught on the running boards shortly before and as the start was effected, materially affecting its chances as the rider was instructed to go forward and race handily which consequently he was unable to do. The Stewards therefore ordered that BENVENUTO CELLINI (IRE) be declared a non-runner.
It could be inferred that if the intended tactics were for the horse to be held up then the decision would have been different. That doesn’t seem equitable to me.

Ruby, Number 1 lesson of punting, and I always tell newcomers, don’t throw your ticket away until they have announced “Weighed In”.
Aside from all else I commented after the Dante that I didn’t think Item would handle the track, too much daylight about him ,and I’m surprised the stable didn’t target France or Ireland with this one.
Don’t think Christmas Day will prove to be one of the best Derby winners…
Wasn’t backed (started 12/1) which is often a bad sign for Jardine runners and I’ll keep an eye on this one going forward.
Catching up with this after playing golf at Pitlochry*. MrsRaymo was clearly fooled by all the reserves I listed!
Good to see Hickory Lad further boost some strong Musselburgh 2yo form.
*We won the team competition!
