Personally i did not see the race or the betting patterns,
However like him or not McCririck is good for racing. The vast majority of punters I would suggest think he his good and he sayes what the majority do not but what the ordinary betting shop punter would think or would like to be said.
The example on here about the horse drifting and rearing up in the stalls I would suggest the majority of betting shop punters would say that it was a bent/fixed race.
Having been a member on the TRF for several months and having been at times been subjected to abuse by members who think racing is 100% genuine, I welcome people like Mc Cririck who stick up for the ordinary punter who whn said and done keeps the industry going.
Lets not forget that without the betting public there would be no racing.
At the end of the day racing is corrupt, it always has been and most probably always will be. To what extent is anybodys guess and i hope it is only minimal but I have my doubts.
I no longer bet on horse racing because of the above. However I still enjoy watching it.
    We should have more McCriricks.
Personally I find racing the only the sport that when a jockey rides a bad race they get defended by the so called racing corrspondents /presenters with the possible exception of Matt Chapman ATR who make excuses.
Any other sport and you would get a right slating in the press and on TV, but no not jockeys.
In another 10-15 years if it continues the way it is going it will become a minority sport with little if any press coverage and only a hardened following
Bring on Euro 2008, at least everybody will be trying and keep on going McCririck

    Neil,

I can only assume it did not cost you much money at Leicester

He as just cost punters a packet and should receive a lenghy ban, end of story.

It is probably to do with the amount of poor flat racing that we get day in day out perpetrated by the dreaded all weather.
Far to much flat racinga nd not enough jump racing

I am not at least a bit surprised. There is another thread on here about transport costs and how memeber ended up losing money.

How anyone can expect at he sport to stay corruptiob free when owners are losing money is beyond me. No one spends thousands of pounds without a bit of a chance of making some money and so corruption will always be prevalent.

And before people get on their high horses saying how wrong I am, jsut ask the average person in the bookies what they think.

I know not everyone is at it and some will defend McKeown and Blockley but lets get real. It goes on, always has done and always will fo.

I have moved to football. Shorter odds but more consistency overall.

Unfortunately, with the advent of Great Leighs racing is only going to get worse. Not there fault.

The quality a lot of the time these days is poor. I always thought all weather racing was invented for winter when a lot of meetings were called off to assist the bookies

It appears now that it is taking over which is probably what the bookies want as it is similar to the plastic (computer) racing.

I was at a local bookies the other day and I heard 2 people discussing the form of the plastic racing. I give up.

The comments and their ratings were second to none. It was rare that they were that far off the mark.

They were unbiased (unlike some) and often said what others in racing would not which was refreshing.

They were more than just ratings, there insight was second to none and I must admit that without them and their value for money compared with others have left me contempalting packing it all in.

Indeed Slipperytoad, the best value around and excellent commentary with a fantastic database.

I will probably pack the game in without them.

    The rest are to expensive.

    A sad loss to racing.

If you cannot find a ticket tout outside Aintree I will eat my hat.

There are a large number every year at Cheltenham so why Aintree would be different I do not know.

You can disguise it all you like.

You can debate it all you like and compare to other sports, however the bottom line is, what happens is cheating and corrupt.

Blame it on what you like but that is the bottom line.

People do their hobbies to enjoy them, be it play golf, football whatever.

People go in to horse ownership at a low level to win money be it drop lucky with a good horse or get one over on the bookies by cheating, whatever you want to call it.

Obviously not every owner does it but I would suggets a good deal do.

That is exactly why I have now stopped betting.

Unfortunately like it or not it is not straight, not that it ever was but I think it is more bent now than ever.

I have to agree with Andrew, because of my user name which is meant as a joke, I tend to get unwarranted remarks by people who have no idea who I am or what my back ground is.

It appears that if you do not agree with a few certain memebres you are fair game.

Everybody has different opinions and views and all should be respected no matter how outrageous they seem.
