C’est incroyable!
I think the brave tactic came as a rude shock to the typically laid-back French NH riders and were too stubborn to take it up to the Flat jock.
Fascinating viewing. No doubt Alan Aitken (SCMP) will feast on this during the week.
Touché.
If they run at a steady clip I couldn’t imagine any of these going toe-to-toe with MG, if he is indeed 100%.
Mikhail Glinka? Double take.
Two month setback and reappearing at 2 mile, lacks an entry in the Eclipse. I don’t know what to think.
Reminiscent of a similar post I wrote 2 years ago on this exact sub-forum.
Racing journalism is a pig of a business for those keen to get their foot in the door. Opportunities are scarce and those which do arise are hounded by hundreds of young aspirants.
Search the entire online landscape for racing websites that provide (or could provide) editorial content. Do not restrict your search to media outlets such as AAP Racing and Racenet, but also racing stables, tour companies, tipping sheets etc etc.
Offer to write articles for magazines for free. They need to fill up an 80-page book and will welcome a contributor who they don’t have to pay a cent for. The reward is a published article printed in your name that you can present to potential employers as evidence of your talents.
The important thing is you need to be innovative, entrepreneurial and pro-active in order to capture the eye of potential employers. Talk to people in the industry, send letters selling yourself to every single media-related company you can think of. Let the industry know of you and what you can offer to them. Remember, this is a huge networking business.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but didn’t Hughes use the same tactics on Paco Boy in last year’s renewal?
He didn’t flinch despite Zacinto stinkfacing him. It was a faultless ride and Hughes was in complete control. He produced the same late turn-of-foot and was downed by arguably the best miler of the past 20 years. No shame in that at all.

A Dubai native, former camel jockey, nephew of Saeed Manana gave the audition of his life on Dubai World Cup night 2009 and in his debut season as Godolphin #2 won the first Breeders’ Cup race for the operation since 2001.
It would be criminal if they didn’t offer the job to him once Frankie moves on.
If searching for that proven top-class runner in the Prince Of Wales’ then yes, this is a weaker renewal than the norm.
But the race gives back in terms of competitiveness. At least seven of these would not be out of place winning a Group 1. Debussy, Tazeez, Wiener Walzer are not dyed-in-the-wool journeymen either.
I have bet Presvis and Tazeez, both generously over the odds.
I firmly believe that Paco Boy could never beat a fit and well Goldikova if he went for home before her. The only horse she’s let past when on her game was Zarkava. Paco Boy isn’t in that league.
How does Rip Van Winkle look finished based on that? Every man and his dog knew he’d had problems in preparation and would improve considerably on whatever he did today.
Agreed. So close yet so far for Paco Boy.
Firmly believe they are focused on the Breeders’ Cup Classic for RVW.
That was a truly solid gallop and Nicconi was flat throughout. For a sprinter it is quite alarming.
On viewing this he is more one-dimensional than past King’s Stand winners from Australia, and could be suited better to a mile. Indeed, his half-brother won Group 1 races from 1600m-2000m.
A positive would be to use this run as a learning brief, head home and focus on the plethora of Group 1 7 furlong-mile races and perhaps a tilt at the Cox Plate.
Perhaps the long overdue end-to-end gallop (at any rate, a stronger gallop than Dubai, Singapore or Hong Kong) will inspire Presvis, or is it too late? Sure am tempted at the price.
One would hope the English have realised the Australian breed is a league above in the sprinter’s realm, and wouldn’t dare try to ignore/take on a horse deemed just as fast as any of Scenic Blast, Miss Andretti or Takeover Target.
Afraid not.
The last two Prix du Jockey Club winners highlight the importance of reverting the distance to 1m4f.
A lead balloon.
That said, he is still a pretty hot chance to win the Irish equivalent.
How sad, no one from Australia entered. Horses from Australia are amazing also and even the racers. Is there a possibility that they can join this derby?

You don’t happen to run that website you are plugging in your signoff, by any chance?
Rewilding could be very special. If his talent bears fruit on Saturday is another story. From where I see it Coolmore are producing the strongest Derby team in years, despite the withdrawal of SNA.
Do they award Nobel Prizes for Bankruptcy?
There was a lot to like of Rewilding’s royal spanking in the Cocked Hat. The way he travelled smoothly to the leaders off a moderate pace and vapourised them was most impressive.
A sublime breed with a leaning towards 12 furlong boasting a vicious turn-of-foot like that is uber-exciting, and cannot be ignored @ 33/1 (Hills).
