Thankyou for all your questions and various other comments. I’ll get through them now!

Robbie Waterhouse is a crook and a thief. Why should his opinion be worthy of listening to? We phased out the staying pedigree due to a varying number of reasons.

Anyway – how can the environment impact on the type of thoroughbred?

Any evidence for that slanderous remark about Mr Waterhouse?
He has never struck me as being anything other than straightforward and knowledgeable concerning many aspects of racing.

Never heard of the Fine Cotton scandal? He’s a crook and a thief – it’s not slanderous, it’s a pretty accurate description of the man. Nothing sinister, because he is, as you say, an intelligent horseman. Can be very generous to punters, too.

Flash – in response to your comment that some people out there make money by backing the short-priced fav …

In Queensland, Australia there was a famous punter named Eddie "The Fireman" Birchley. He always backed the even money favourite or shorter when applicable. He was colourful, and professional … but he always backed the shorties – needless to say he was down a suggested AUD $1 million over a 3 year span.

Maybe it was worth considering opening the chatroom for periods of the day, or specific days of the week in order to maximise the user base in the chatroom. I’ve popped in a few times to a see only a few tumbleweeds. :(

You could do it the easy way and just type the race name into Google, add "wiki" or "wikipedia" at the end of that text and search.

That waste treatment plant proposal is atrocious. Luckily I think there is enough force against it for it to be scrapped (ie. Ballydoyle, Coolmore)

Johnny Murtagh had done enough last year for the transition to him becoming the retained rider to be smooth and easy.

There is a very similar race occurrence in Japan on a muddy track where the horse calls it a day and jog-trots off the screen, only to grab hold of the bit again and swoop home for a crazy win. I’ll try and find it.

You say Shergar … I say Silky Sullivan!

Let me continue on the candid attitude: although I am a living breathing horseman, journalist, purist and enthusiast … I rarely bet.

I’m reading over this system on a thread you posted on another forum. I am thoroughly intrigued.

I will post further tomorrow. It’s bedtime. Good luck punting today.

Let me be very candid – I have no ****ing idea what you are talking about.

So … I think the answer is obvious: it’s kept under wraps. :)

Who knows about Youmzain? Knowing that Channon also has Majestic Roi he would be better off in the Sheema Classic. However, it’s possible that Channon is warming Youmzain up for the key middle-distance events in Europe with a race over a shorter distance. Class-wise it doesn’t matter, he’d still run a good race, and finishing third or fourth would equate to a winning purse in the Tattersall’s Gold Cup, Coronation Cup or similar.

I declared Darjina a good thing in the Hong Kong Mile. The race was hers if not for the interference 300m out, but she was coming home like a freight train. And she was quite fresh for that Sha Tin outing, similar to her appearing first-up in the Dubai Duty Free. Can’t see why I wouldn’t declare her again?

However, her only start left-handed was on debut in a five-horse Maiden locally. Will be a detrimental blow, or just sweeter odds?

Oh – that’s right. I’m pretty sure quadrella has a different meaning in Oz compared to England.

Quadrella – the betting shop nominates four races in a meeting – usually consecutive races – for which you must select the winner of all four races in order to be successful in the wager.

Barney Curley – the name is familiar from Frankie Dettori’s auto-biography.

Oh – and I still remember the name of the horse. King Orchisios. It was on Champion day at Newmarket and I had cleaned up on New Approach but by quaddie* went down the drain when I left KO out of the third leg.

*Quaddie = I’m pretty sure you folks know the Quadrella format?

You have a three or four-figure bank to start with, and superb discipline … ANYONE can make profit. I am certain of this.

    Mick? Mick Cerchi?

I have worked in racing stables, 195cm/78kg makes an issue for trackriding (unfortunately). I’ll learn to walk, trot and canter on a horse soon.

I also write about horses. I’m at the racetrack every week, trials when it is possible, yearling sales when it is possible.

When I say "improve knowledge", I mean, I want to know the quirks of the Rowley Mile, Tattenham Corner and Swinley Bottom. The track quirks, how the stables operate too, as well as the races.

For instance, I remember noticing a horse in a race at Lingfield turf with a formline of 0900 … it was favourite, and won easily. I was flabbergasted.

How do the class ratings work in UK, too? Trust me, I’ll have plenty of questions to ask :D

If the betting shops down here would add European jumps racing to their calendar, I would be head first into the action – but the betting shops only provide a maximum of 24 runners in a race in their system. Very unfortunate!

Danehill influenced the globe. He will continue to do so with Exceed And Excel, Danehill Dancer, Rock Of Gibraltar, Desert King …

That he was still churning out winners like Dylan Thomas, Peeping Fawn, Duke Of Marmalade, Mountain High, Echelon, Simply Perfect and Darci Brahma last year reflects the incredible mark he continues to place on racing.

Shinzig (Danehill) won the Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes over 7 furlongs this past Saturday, too.
