Ladbrokes go 16-1 (from 25) and spokesman David Williams said: "Lope De Vega seems unlikely to get the Arc trip so we’ve taken the runner-up Planteur out of the race and suspect he is capable of better later this year."

    ———————————————————

The dam side of Planteur’s pedigree is laden with stamina. His dam is related to multiple group winners at twelve, thirteen and fourteen furlongs.

Danehill Dancer can produce horses that stay very well if the dam side is stoutly bred. Recent examples include Anna Pavlova and Wajir, who holds an entry for the Ascot Gold Cup.

Planteur is a very straight-forward colt and he was obviously made to look one paced against a Guineas winner. There will be no horse with that kind of speed in the Arc and there’s more improvement to come from him.

Bosra the horse is by Danehill Dancer from a Giant’s Causeway mare. That alone is enough to suggest I do not want to be backing the horse in a 12f Gr1 race.

The dam may have some staying relations – They all do if you look hard and far enough. In this case you don’t need to look too far. Those stayers though were by the likes of Sadler’s Wells, Desert King and Caerleon. All much stouter influences than Danehill Dancer. There’s also a more distant link with Peintre Celebre. Planteur’s dam has produced one horse to race from a stouter influence than Danehill Dancer and he’s a limited 10-11f handicapper. May get longer this year.

As for Danehill Dancer he’s only 8% with twelve furlong horses and 7% with worldwide Gr1 starters. Leave me out. His best stayer that I have found has been a female Gr3 performer.

By comparison Cape Cross, the sire of STS who was also considered a suspect stayer, has 11% with 12f horses and 14% with worldwide Gr1 runners. More stamina and quality.

    You’ll know after this…

Planter, the Grand Prix de Paris target

    At Longchamp

Second Prix du Jockey-Club at Chantilly on June 6, planter should be at the start of the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp on July 14. There is also a Group I.

Elusive Wave and Sahpresa go to Chantilly?

Elusive Wave and Sahpresa are engaged in the Prix du Chemin de Fer du Nord, June 13, Chantilly. If the first has already made its comeback in the Prix du Muguet (5th), the second has not been seen since his third place in Group I in Kyoto in November.

Lope de Vega slower than Darsi

    In Chantilly

Lope de Vega won the Prix du Jockey Club in time 2’07”10 but he did not beat the record of Group I. The best time is held by Darsi in 2’05”80, winner in 2006.

    Prix du Jockey-Club

    Responses from key players

The Prix du Jockey Club 2010 has delivered its verdict cursing Lope de Vega. The main players in this group I gave their impressions of their representative but also on the winner. Jean-Claude Rouget, fair play after the fourth place Behkabad, has even described the winning horse "Supersonic".

    Lope de Vega

    (1st) – Maxime Guyon
"It’s great! Is an amazing horse. He did not shoot Mr. Fabre and wanted me to let him gallop without upsetting him. He was right. Lope de Vega gave a jerk decisive. It has everything ".

    Planter

    (2nd) – Anthony Crastus
"I’m not disappointed as the race went as planned except for one thing … The leader has done a good job. I left my horse a chance to blast it into the final turn but we were unable to hang on to Lope de Vega. It took too immediately and it was impossible to turn on him in the last 300 meters. I am satisfied with second place. "

    Pain Perdu

    (3rd) – Nicolas Clement
I am not surprised by his performance because it is a rock. He repeats his morning’s work. Lanfranco Dettori was well mounted, even if we did not have a course tailor outside of Lope de Vega. But the winner is a champion. He had won a good horse in the Hen Testing Colts. He did even better in the Jockey Club. This is an extraordinary horse. Mine is not bad either … "

    Behkabad

    (4th) – Jean-Claude Rouget
"It’s worth even a little better. Fourth, it is already a beautiful place. It was hard to beat. The winner is impressive. Supersonic, I think we’ve seen a very large edition of the Prix du Jockey Club. "

    Ice Blue

    (6th) – Pascal Bary
"He enjoyed a good run and I thought we would be third or fourth, but he stuck in the final meters. He was nervous in the parade which may explain this lack of resources to finish …"

I don’t think Planteur will have a problem staying. It is not that rare for Giant’s Causeway to impart a little stamina, and although rarer in the case of Danehill Dancer, it does happen once in a while, and looks like Planteur is one of those cases. Which means this could be a surprisingly hot GP de Paris.

Thanks for the summaries, Zenjah. This one is definitely going to enter my vocabulary:

Lope de Vega gave a jerk decisive

    Lol! – Ole – cool! :D

Tony Morris did a piece on ‘Plantr’ – seemed to think he might get further & or improve with age…

I thought that he was v disappointing myself – i.e he had the run of the race and couldn’t quicken away from ‘Ice Blue’ – who had won over half a furlong further than the JC first time up this season.

This for me might have been his chance to win – and I would want to see if he can fight his way through a pack – looks a one dimensional style of running to me…

One puzzle was – that Guyon said he took the lead due to ‘Lope’ having the pace to win over 7f…
yet ‘Becki’ who won over 6f couldn’t go with them at the start – missed it or something – had he of been up there with the first three – I’d guess that he may have gone by ‘Plantr’??

    Interesting form franking today!

The horse that ‘Makfi beat 1st time up beat the horse that ‘Air Trooper’ beat by a margin 1st time up!

You’ll have to do your own leg work there G! – as I lost my link to where you can find that info out… :|

I can tell you that he wasn’t favoured/picked/tipped to win as he was meeting an opponent with weight pull (if translation is right) – but he won well! :D

    Prix de Diane

The starters of the Prix de Diane 2010

The succession of Stacelita is open! The Prix de Diane 2010 will bring together nine fillies of great value with two representatives of the Prince "Aga Khan", Rosamar, winner of the Prix Marcel Boussac, especially Sarafina, Prix Saint-Alary, which will start in the position of favorite. The resident of Andre Fabre, Deluxe, will not go ahead but not beaten.

    Review workforce:

    1 – Deluxe

Daughter of the exceptional Hasil, she began her career with a victory on the racecourse at Chantilly in September of his two years. After a narrow victory in a race "D" for his return, the representative of Khalid Abdullah took part in the Prix Saint-Alary (Group I) in which, having been slow to change gears in the final phase, it provided an end of course noticed, without being unduly sought. Dragged by the formidable Andre Fabre, she should acknowledge progress further and attempt to take revenge on Sarafina.

    2 – Rosamar

This is none other than the winner of the Prix Marcel Boussac in 2009. Following this success, this girl Sinndar tried his luck against males in the very difficult Criterium International at Saint-Cloud, where she took a respectable third place remote from Jan Veermer. Anna Salai third in the Prix La Cave for her return, she has been unlucky in the finals but Hen test showed she was not only 2 years. For his first attempt over the distance, the representative of Alain de Royer Dupre seems able to come and upset the two favorites.

    3 – Valasyra

This quality filly settle for a leader for its two partners stablemate, Sarafina and Rosamar.

    4 – Sarafina

Maintained at 2 years, this beautiful daughter of Refuse To Bend has not been slow to express its full potential. Winning by six lengths in her debut, she then removed the Prix Saint-Alary at the end of a jerk worthy of the greatest. For the third spacewalk of his career, it should certainly see new progress and, if such is the case, it looks difficult to overtake. The number one advantage of the gown "Aga Khan".

    5 – Bridge Of Peace

His entourage was pleased by aligning this filly Anaaba, still maiden. Impasse recommended.

    6 – A Media Luz

This resident of Yannick Hay has been significantly beaten in the Prix Cleopatra (Group III) while running better than its ranking suggests. Indeed, waiting out the rear in a race without train, this daughter of Johann quatz not been included as well. Previously, she failed to victory few in another Group III, the Prix Penelope. Barred for success, it will try to play the four, fifth place.

    7 – Sandbar

Recent winner of Cleopatra, the pupil of Francis Rohaut levels rose gradually and remains on an impressive run of four consecutive victories. Supplemented for the occasion, the daughter of Oasis Dream has the advantage to benefit from the rising Olivier Peslier, still formidable at major events. Despite its current form and that of his mentor, it will be seen especially for a place.

    8 – Zagora

Versatile Jean-Claude Rouget (winner of the previous edition with Stacelita), it comes from the clinch Vanteaux Price (Group III) in perfect relaxation, earning his ticket for the Prix de Diane. Despite five races under his belt, its limits remain elusive. A gamble!

    9 – Heaven’s Vault

After starting his career any more, this resident Robert Collet just finished third in the Prix Cleopatra. However, it seems very much less than many of his opponents. Chance secondary.

The thing is Myles, people have to stop referring to this race as the French Derby. Yes, its gone down in importance/relevance for the Arc, but hopefully the Grand Prix de Paris will regain some of its former glory. From our point of view the Prix du Jockey Club can be regarded as the French equivalent of the Dante nowadays.

Mosse is a disgrace to racing. He’s on the only horse with a chance of beating Sarafina and instead of keeping that filly posted three wide throughout without cover he eases back, lets the favourite in, then positions himself on the fence instead of remaining in the running lane. What’s the point of racing when one jockey doesn’t compete but simply hands the race to a stablemate.

    Absolute disgrace!

Bit harsh – can’t knock old ‘white gloves’ myself – but true I thought that ‘Sarafina’ was destined to never get cover!

‘Rosie’ made the frame I think that was what was expected for her?

    Dupre – knows what he’s got…

You may consider the obvious truth, that is there for all to see, as "a bit harsh" – I don’t. We need more outspoken "harshness" in this game not more censorship ( not that I think you’re trying to censor me old chap ).

The only, "obvious truth" that I know of is the very high regard that ‘Sarafina’ is held in!
