Hi Jas, The Supreme has been dominated by the Mullins/Ricci combo over the last few years. Min did get turned over last year, much to the disgust of my 25/1 antipost ticket from the previous August. This year, the Mullins battalions have hit the skids. Senewalk was a much talked about horse pre season, but that fluffed his lines in November and has since been put away after a breathing op. So where do we look for the winner? I can see the Moon Racer angle (form in the book). If Cilaos Emery was any good,Willie would of run him in the Moscow Flyer. The same applies to Chateau Conti. Neon Wolf runs in the neptune (if he runs at all). Charli Parks and Defi du suell both run in the Triumph. Airlie Beach goes for the mares novice. Finians Oscar goes for the Neptune.Saturnas wants a trip and Any Second Now probably wont turn up. Other posters have nailed their colours to one’s at bigger prices (Jenkins,Capitaine,Consul de thaix and High Bridge). 2 horses i’ve left out are Crack Mome and Melon (suprise suprise, they’re my selections). Mullins turned to Crack Mome to represent him in the Moscow Flyer which is the route he’s taken for his previous Supreme winners.Going off at 4/9f, Crack Mome fluffed his lines with 2 bad mistakes at crucial times. Ruby later said that he hated the ground and would be a different prospect on better ground. The other one is Melon. He’s got an entry on Thursday and could be anything. Over the last few days, the bookies have been slicing the odds amid good reports from the yard. I suggest backing both at 16’s and 10’s respectively with Sky Bet NRNB. Good Luck
He’s declared up in a maiden hurdle on the 26th. Mullins has another 3 or 4 declared at this point including c’est jersey who has been dissapointing, but is half decent. Melon supposedly is the real deal but i don’t know why they’ve struggled to get him to the track. I see Paddy Power have sliced it from 16s to 12s this morning. If you watch some of his French flat runs,he looks a bit of a brute – ideal for chasing next season. I’ve backed it at 20s a few months ago along with crack mome at 50s courtesy of bet365
MELON could be making his long awaited debut for Willie Mullins at Gowran next Thursday.
BATTLEFORD declared in a 2m 7f novice event at Thurles on 19th Jan. This could point to him going the AB and INVITATION ONLY going Neptune. Just a thought
Know nowt about the horse but I bet the odd tip on here and happy to have had a tenner on it. That’s the chance you take. Only saw the finish where he was travelling well. Looked a bit of a slowboat after the error, but we shall see.
BTW, I still believe Moon Racer could end up in the Champion Hurdle. I haven’t backed him for the Supreme but had I done, I’d be saving my stake in the CH.
Don’t be detered by the the defeat NG. The supreme picture is so muddy at the moment. Crack mome was definately a Mullins talkin horse along with Melon so they think the ability is there. Its a dissappointing result today but Cheltenham will be a different story
10/1 looks great value now, eh? Lost his chance by scuffing up the last, the runner-up too.
[Hi Zark, sorry for the late post – i’ve been eating an extra few slices of humble pie. The horse is still learning and made errors at critical stages. I’m not detered by CM gettin turned over. I’ll be waiting now till Cheltenham week to go in again. /quote]
G, I’m glad your a believer. It looks like Zark needs a bit more convincing tho – lol.
Hi guys.
I think alot of readers are missing a trick with the supreme this year. CRACK MOME is clearly the horse to beat. Yes its true that CM probably isn’t the best horse in the stable (whispers are that MELON was ment to be thier Supreme horse) but in a race where most of the top end of the market wont turn up, CM still has enough potential to take it. It will have no trouble in dispensing of its rivals in the Moscow Flyer before going of at about 7/2 for the Supreme. I urge people to hoover up any 10’s still available. I’ll eat large amounts of humble pie if this is not the case.CRACK MOME and MELON have been the talking horses around the Mullins yard for a few months. Unfortunately we’ve not seen MELON on the track since his import. I think CM was quoted at 50s when introduced to the market. Its the cornerstone of my doubles and trebles along with MIN 8’s and Bapuame 25’s. Good times ahead!!
Cant have MEGA FORTUNE for the Triunph hurdle. Off a mark of 133, i think ita shoe in for the Fred Winter. The ratings ranged from 128 – 142 for last years race so he’s definately gonna get in. Lap up the 16s on Bet365. This horse has got everything needed for a slog up the Cheltenham hill.
Does anyone know why CRACK MOME has drifted like a barge on Betfair and Paddy Power for the Supreme? I’ve backed it at 33s and got it in e/w doubles and trebles with MIN arkle (8s) and Bapaume triumph (25s). Im getting nervous
