Hills opened with 8/11 Celtic for the SPL, license to print money IMO. Now 4/6, so still a decent snip.
I think Celtic will be hard to dislodge but Rangers will no doubt put up a much sterner challenge than they did last season. The 4/6 on offer doesn’t tempt me – though I do sincerely hope the men in green & white hoops emerge triumphant – again! [/u]

"I wouldn’t fancy a hold up horse in a 2f sprint…"
– MikeBest not to book Jamie Spencer then.

I think it’s just simply a case of Sander Camillo having not trained on.

Isn’t it curious how the poll percentage for Sakhee’s Secret has risen followiing the race?!

Looked the winner a long way out. Very impressive I thought. Happy to say I was one of the 19%… or 21%, as it now is! .

Precocious types like Winker Watson (terrible name for a prospective classic colt incidentally)
What?
I think its a fantastic name. (As long as you’re sober )
Well yes <aherm> … and speaking of another Dandy Man who is running at Newmarket. I wonder if he can pass the post in first place too.

Hatta Fort must have a squeak.
Bit more than a squeak, Himself, considering how he’s run over 5f which is surely not his distance?
Yes, you’re probably right.

but precocious typs dont win the guineas? George Washington
I said usually.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
Precocious types like Winker Watson (terrible name for a prospective classic colt incidentally) usually do not go on to win the 2,000 Guineas. Good as he is at this stage, I certainly won’t be backing him to win that race.

I would never rule any horse out of anything based on history. History said Red Rum wouldn’t win three Grand Nationals, Arkle wouldn’t win three Gold Cups, Nashwan wouldn’t win the Guineas, Derby, Eclipse, King George …………………………………….. etc etc etc
Don’t shoot the messenger? Only relaying some stats.
Come to think of it, I’m sure history said that it was possible for Arkle to win three Gold Cups.

I thought Winker Watson won like a very good colt. Will he stay a mile – who knows? Will he win next year’s 2000 guineas? History says probably not.

Lucarno has a sporting chance, especially given the weight he receives from favourite, Sixties Icon. However, three year olds do not have a particularly good winning record in this race – although Mark Johnston’s Soapy Danger did win last year.
A race to watch I think.

I’ve attended meetings at both Newmarket courses.
To be honest I prefer the atmosphere at the July course – especially the evening meeting. You don’t really get a true impression on tv.

Archive and Bright Cherry.
Oh, I see that one already HAS produced the greatest ever racehorse.
In recent times, off the top of my head – probably Nijinsky and Miesque.

Himself
When Spencer won on the bridle last week they went a strong gallop. This week he was 6 lb higher, they went a slower gallop and the horse was forced to come off the bridle. He has already shown on numerous occasions that his response to pressure is limited. Add in that under the 6 lb penalty he wasn’t rntitled to beat the Johnston horseand he was short enough at 11/8. Blame Spencer if you like but I wouldmn’t criticise him for that.
I appreciate what you say, but my criticism of him is not solely based on the ride he gave History Boy last night at Wolverhampton. He didn’t give the horse a chance. Incidentally I’m not talking threw my pocket – as I said earlier, I tread carefully now where he is concerned.
There is no denying that he has talent, but he is enigmatic to the point of frustration and infuriation at times – one minute he can show flashes of brilliance (he gave Hoh Mike a superb ride at Sandown last time out for example) and then there’s the numerous times he has ridden as if his mind was somewhere else completely.
He has a tendency to be over confident when he shouldn’t be. To quote the oft used phrase, which I have heard attributed to him on many occasions – "he thinks he’s on Nijinsky." As I say, I’m not knocking his ability. You don’t become champion flat jockey without that basic requirement – but I do however question his race judgement and motivation at times.
