His form throughout career makes weird reading purely on SPs , goes out at 250s , does nothing, drops to 40s in handicap , fair enough I suppose ,maybe light in first time , does not a lot , then goes out at 11/2 in broadly similar race next up . All those races mid prep so no real fitness issues youd think . Goes out at 100s at Chepstow beaten 70 lengths , then next up similar race Exeter 11s . All way through his form to me looks odd .
He was crawling all over those first two this week on 11st odd , if it were me I wouldnt be paying the training fees for those behind too much longer .Winloc’s Millie (USA) 1993 . Mr Prospector sire and damsire .Seems pretty close .
BBC Look East sports trophy looks the one , if my Nan was still alive in Clacton as i think thats the TV area covers Clacton id pay big for that for her to put up .
In Germany they have approved stallions and non approved . Offspring of approved race for 30 pc more prizemoney . Not sure if thats all races . Approved must pass soundness , and other set criteria .
Ballydoyle has lost The Cliffs of Moher and Anthony Van Dyck in the Melbournne Cup and The Pentagon and Witchita to trackwork injuries in OZ . A lot has been written about those . Some say its the training on a tight turning track at Werribee that rides fairly quick , compared to at home generally up a straight gallop and their bones and joints not strengthened enough for it .
They race their horses a lot so i guess more chance of injury percentage wise .
Mogo Magic bolted in , very green , done it the hard way on the lead ,maybe on this occasion owners were right , targeting a restricted 2 million buck race in spring , and on yesterdays run will be very hard to beat if he gets the rails .
As for Packing Sissoko , I will keep an eye out if he pops up in OZ or NZ . Owner sends a few down if they fail up there .Couple of Packing this and that going round at moment .Different distance range but i see today owners of a horse called Mogo Magic from OZ have turned down in region of 1.2 million AUD , about 700k real money . Hes gelding with two wins in country midweek NSW and one highway at Randwick a race restricted to out of City trainers . Bird in hand sometimes best but if he lives up to hype in OZ he can win that easy . But hes a long way from that a moment . In light of that Waipiro would imho worth at very least double that formwise ,
Id always take the money , years ago owners of horse called Kinane turned down silly money from HK , he had won grp3 at Randwick i think , horse couldnt pick his feet up after that , everytime he turned out peools said ” should have took the money !!!”
Mogo races today Rosehill , he had better win !!.If AR has off day and he will need to Up and Under form solid around other runners , and was well ahead of Tower of London this season and he looks smart . At 12s Ladbrokes his form with White Birch makes him decent each way value to me when viewed where White Birch sits in market .
Nice and fresh into race .Actually one I noticed back on the track last week was The Summit , 2 nd in French Derby few years back , went to HK I assume for big money ran poor . He has been gelded , had 2 and half years off . Went ok fresh up without trial , he will get a win in OZ , will need to shed some rating points but big yard has him so must be showing a glimmer of old ability .
Pure Champion who was Steinbeck at Ballydoyle raced in HK and then ended up in NZ , raced a few times and has a spot at stud .
Sweet Orange was Warning Flag in Ireland and after HK ended up at Stud in NZ but I think he’s gone to mainland China now as was not a success at stud .
Akeed Mofeed came out of HK and seems to produce the odd decent horse in OZ , so old Waipiro has a small window of hope .Plenty of ex HK horses out in OZ and NZ that get another go and pick up a few wins . There are a couple of trainers very good at getting them back in the mood , bit of time in nice green field seems to sort them out .Lastest figures on internet are August 2022 . 1150 active racehorses in HK , approximately 98 per cent geldings . 25 colts, 2 fillies , 2 rigs .
Waipiro does look a very nice horse .He will be short odds on to be gelded, last three runnings HK Derby has had one filly and three colts . Two remain intact according to records , one retired , one still racing and Russian Emperor gelded a few races after Derby . He is by a champion out of a champion . Waipiro got no chance dodging that one imho .
Wildensteins got to be head of world rankings in dummy spitting owner division.
Vacarme was followed by some other incidents i think .
Be a few other dummy spitters no doubt .I suppose those that pay the bills call the tune .It would be a big risk on very likely heavy for first time , most give he’s ever run on was Good at Meydan , even the two Arc winners on his Dams side won their Arcs on Firm , it’s got to be long odds on to be soft or worse .
Going to have go EW Spangled Mac , great run yesterday , will be finishing strong over 6 , looks like he likes quick back ups too . Comes out gate close to some favoured runners might help Callan with move into race .
I enjoy watching Spencer ride , you know what you get with him he likes riding for luck but can adapt well . Hes got me a few nice collects over the years . Three of his best imho .
1 ) went midweek Lingfield late winter many years back , Spencer would have been early in career . Was riding horse called Silvertown for Barney Curley . I thought right double my money plus interest cover some costs . He cruised upsides , won a head without moving . Formline says ” cleverly ” . More to point the horse beaten a head formline reads ” no chance with winner ” .
2) Side Glance 2013 Mackinnon at Flemington for Andrew Balding . Decent odds , broke slow , pulls a bit . Spencer adapts goes forward and rides the Ozzie jocks to sleep , kicks at perfect point off bend and holds on , perfection !!
3) Crystal Mile 2019 Moonie Valley Chief Ironside , big odds round tight circuit times his run to perfection and noses it on line again showing the OZ jocks how it done on their turf.
A seriously good jockey imhoBeat Le Bon got into GE in 2019 off a 5 of 6 in Celebration mile and ran 6th picking up 55k , Light Infantry picked up 95k for 6th last year .
