Looks like we’ve done our money with Equinox.

Speaking on Luck On Sunday just now, after the horse’s romp at Hanshin this morning, Naohiro Goda, Japanese racing expert, has said that connections are likely to stay in Japan, given that there’s a $2m bonus for completing the Sheema Classic-Japan Cup double.

Note to self: “Next time you fancy a Japanese horse ante-post for a big European race, spend the stake money on sushi instead.”

You can have 16 to three figures at Betfair and someone wants a quid at 42 and that basically sums it up for me.

They “might” change their minds, but the probability is it won’t run.

It would be a big risk on very likely heavy for first time , most give he’s ever run on was Good at Meydan , even the two Arc winners on his Dams side won their Arcs on Firm , it’s got to be long odds on to be soft or worse .

This is all true, but there’s fierce ante-post competition in this joint and you can have the biggest bet of your life that, had Equinox showed up at Longchamp, either got his ground, or gone equally well in “le quagmire,” and absolutely bolted in, you would never – EVER – have heard the end of it from the instigators of this wannabe “coup.”

So one had to be on the sushi bus to Paris just to make that truly appalling prospect bearable!

That’s a bit harsh on Mike the instigator..
All he would say is “get in” and move on..🤠

Ace Impact out at Deauville tomorrow, looks a nice little race.

There will be some glum faces – including mine, I’ve 10/1 about him for the Arc – if Ace Impact gets beat at Deauville tomorrow.

He ought to give these a right thumping, but his entire Group 1 reputation hinges on one run, which was a stone and a half better than anything he’d done before.

IMO, it’s a bit odd to put him away and miss races like the Eclipse (which the yard won with Vadeni after Chantilly last year) but then bring him out before Arc trials weekend (Prix Niel the obvious target if Arc bound) and it suggests to me that the Irish Champion Stakes could be his primary autumn target.

Rouget is very fond of running his horses half fit for prep runs like tomorrow

So if he’s impressive in any way that will show how good he is

1/3 best with the books, up to 1.46 (circa 4/9) laid to small money at Betfair Exchange – will a possibly unfit Prix du Jockey Club winner rock up in the paddock looking like he’s eaten too many garlic baguettes but still prevail, and maybe even in style?

Andre Fabre knows his onions (are you allowed to say that these days) has got a bit
of an outsider that would have a squeak if it came up soft or very soft, which is
quite likely. Pensee Du Jour won her first 3 very easily (4L, 7L and 2 1/2L). She
went off at 13/2 but boiled over in the stalls and ran far too free in the in the
Group 1 Prix Du Diane where she mixed it up front but understandably faded in the
last couple. She gets all the allowances as a 3yr old filly and trades with the
bookies between 66s and 25s. I managed to nick her at 130 and 85 on the exchange.
It’s a long way off, but worth a try at those odds.

Pensee Du Jour 130 and 85 Betfair Exchange.

” it suggests to me that the Irish Champion Stakes could be his primary autumn target.”

The same path Almanzor took after winning the French Derby and today’s race. Then it was a long running saga of ” will he go Arc or to Ascot “

Rouget ran both vadeni and sotsass in the Irish champion too to get them spot on for the Arc

Both got beat and improved significantly for the run finishing 2nd and 1st at longchamp

Quickened up alright, but ultimately won like a “Who ate all the baguettes?” merchant.

Hopefully was well in need of the run.
