Great win by one of our local stables. Where’s the praise for Illustrious Blue and William Knight/Jim Crowley.

Didn’t think you’d bother to mention the race here but I had 11-1 with Paddypower @ 7.30am yesterday.

Watch out for Proper Charlie at Newmarket. He’s a little backward, well bred and a £58k purchase so hoping for big things.

Another thing to bear in mind the ARC is likely to be a big field and he could easily get a bad draw if he turns up. I wouldn’t put a penny down to win on anything this far out.

Good luck and I do mean that – very happy if it comes good for you.

Harbinger probably won’t run in the ARC so 2-1 is a mugs bet. If he does 2-1 is still a mugs bet.

You’ll get much better on the day. The ARC’s October so it will be a totally different race, and those that are A1 fit now are unlikely to be that in October.

The ARC going will be very different and 2-1 is another mugs bet.

    Hi CheltenhamSpecialist

As you say not given a hard race. I didn’t back her on Saturday, for that race, and not surprised to see Tactic win (local horse 1.6f). I see we still have 16-1 so no harm done yet! I will get an update from my guy in the next few days and if there is anything interesting will let you know.

Not sure about Germany winning the whole tournament, but good luck. The only team I can watch for more than a few minutes is Brazil (in a serious match). Getting back to the England strip I was talking to a friend who used to coach football and he reminded me of a game where Man U apparently wore a terrible grey outfit. They were 3-0 down at half time so changed the strip for the second half!

    Found this:-

    , 16 April 1996

Manchester United’s grey football kit yesterday became a collector’s item as the "strip they couldn’t see" was consigned to the dustbin after less than a season.

The outfit, which adorned the likes of Cantona and Giggs on United’s appearances away from their home ground of Old Trafford, was blamed for a string of disappointing results and will be replaced by an all-white version.

United are on the verge of winning the Premiership title – the biggest prize in football – despite having lost four and drawn one of the five games in which the unlucky, two-tone design had been worn.

The last straw came on Saturday at Southampton when, after going in three goals down at half-time, the United manager, Alex Ferguson, ordered a switch to the team’s blue and white third kit. The changed worked, but only partially as United lost 3-1.

"The players couldn’t pick each other out," Ferguson said. "They said it was difficult to see their team-mates at distance when they lifted their heads.

For me the big question is how much will Profound Beauty’s price be slashed after she wins on Saturday? I firmly believe the others are destined for no more than supporting roles.

Interesting I was told, by someone who should know, to get on today and before today’s race at 16-1.

So I’ve had a little ratio flutter.

Ps. He also thinks England will beat Germany so he’s not always right!

Well the good news was Betfair going £49k at 9/4 on Germany winning – had some of that. Whoever told England to play in faded red should be shot. Far too hard to spot and didn’t it show.

Profound Beauty’s race was clearly a warm up. Not a big prize and not given a hard race – bigger fish to fry. I shall watch with interest.

Up against McCoy tomorrow at Aintree she’s on the Flying Doctor.

That’s one hell of a confidence vote from the owner and trainer.

I really can’t understand anyone placing a bet on a race that isn’t until October.

By all means book the Pre de Catalan (too late) but you don’t know if the horse will run, state of the going etc etc

I’m just keeping an eye on Dar Re Mi but any horse I back will have to be a ‘no run no bet’.

Interesting the 100-1 shot is having a spin later this week no doubt with the objective of getting a penalty – we shall see…….no way without that, it will make the cut

    103 entries

Oh to be a bookie. Now the one I fancy winning its next race is 100-1. Probably won’t make the cut.

The Derby was won by the best horse by far on the day.

Many did not act on the very fast going, and probably Epsom, and were effectively pulled up.

Workforce still has a lot to prove and I hope he does.

Be a good horse to back against.

The worst thing about this years Derby will be Claire Balding shouting down her microphone at the end of it. Wouldn’t mind but it is hardly an attractive voice.

Please someone tell her she doesn’t need to shout into a microphone.

The value bet has to be Ted Spread. Very well bred gets the distance and lets hope they put on plenty of water. Thunderstorm would be good around 2.00pm!

40-1 ratio bet 10:1 is what i’ve done.

If you could find a horse with blood links to this lot it should have a great chance:-

Sadlers Wells, Dancing Brave, Lyphard, Mill Reef, Native Dancer, Northern Dancer, Never Say Die, Hyperion, Busted

Stan James went 40-1 tonight, on the one above – not for long had them!!! Lay some off tomorrow will be a lot shorter.

    Or:-

Mill Reef, Darshaan, Shirley Heights, Galilieo, Urban Sea, Sir ivor, Native Dancer, Sadlers Wells, Lyphard, Northern Dancer

    So whose this?
