Hi Duke
Look at his action. He’s only beaten moderate opposition on soft in races that were work outs. He’s a class horse with an action very similair to Dancing Brave and I was in Paris in 1986.

Look at his action compared to Punjabi. Binocular hardly lifts his front legs which is ideally suited to fast ground. Punjabi on the other hand has a high knee lift in comparison. This is better suited to softer going.

Now look at Binolcular’s leg action on good ground it puts him in a different league.

You can clearly see the difference in the going in the camera shots between the last two hurdles. You also get a great view of his action at the top of the hill.
As I said to my local bookie for weeks before the Champion hurdle when they were offering 8-1 "it’s all down to the going".
Duke
Binocular needs good ground, his action is very close to the ground. That is why imo he didn’t win the 2009 champion hurdle.
AP said on C4 TV that he did not need to decide until 2 days before the race and he had a choice of 4, if that helps.
If you want to bet on him Skybet go 14-1 for him to win.

Now that looks a fair bet to me as whatever he rides won’t be 14-1 imo.
I for one would love to see him win, he has given me so much pleasure.
Earth Summit carried 10st 5lbs and poor Suny Bay 12stone. 3rd – 6th all carried 10stone.
That was 1988 going soft, heavy in places. Unlikely ever to be heavy at Aintree.
Looks like heavy if you believe this:

I’d hold off having a bet until Thursday at the earliest.

That’s Thursday the 8th.
Hi Gerald,
Does that mean EL will have to be supplemented?
The older you get the more you learn!
I’ve just notice that St Nicholas Abbey isn’t amongst the 75 entered either 31-3-10.
Good News
It’s on C4 tonight some live some recorded I guess.
Forget the first
Then for fun:-
Finjaan 12-1
Kalahari Gold 16-1
Mendip 11-4
Mutheeb 14-1
Bankable 14-1
Beuna Vista 7-1
Vision D’etat 6-1

I can’t get my head around the price of the favourite so I’ve had a little ratio bet on Collateral Damage @ 16-1. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Smokey Oakey in the frame.
Good luck to everyone

Hi Big Bucks,
Penitent’s agree that is a crazy price we don’t know the going yet. I wouldn’t rule out Advanced (won some good races) but your sitting pretty on the odds you have on Mull. Drawn 10 do you have any idea if high is better than low. 10 is bang in the middle so your looking good.
Hi Big Bucks
I was a bit abrupt having just read my response – wasn’t meant. Interested to know what you think might win as the going looks like it’s to be softish? I was eyeing up Tartan Gigha as it has been running in Dubai. The ground has ruled it out.
Big Bucks the reply was to Kopwas who was kindly giving updates on the going not you.
As it happens I won’t be backing anything as my horse won’t be running. I will have a close look at Viznau.
A weather update tomorrow would be good as Saturday looks like being a bright day.
If the weather is fine I’ll tell you what I’m backing otherwise the bets off.
PS Not placed any bets yet
Hi All
As I see it the going is crucial. Love to see good.
Heavy rain forecast, and I read that the CoC has watered!
Would be greatfull of any updates. That COC wants stringing up!
Elusive Pimpernel
It gets better
Mum won over a mile and a half (held up, headway to lead over 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, rallied to lead again inside final furlong, ran on) and she has Sadlers Wells and Troy in her blood. Won’t get the Derby distance – nonsense. Will it come down the hill? Maybe.
