Thanks!!! If he wins the King George I might fly back to the Uk to shout "Kick him in the belly" at Cheltenham.

Probably have to sell my golf clubs this week to eat  but hey! I was getting to fat anyway

We all dream of having a big touch but you won’t find it paying your hard earned cash to these guys.

They don’t spend anyhwere near the time they would need to, to give you good or genuine service. It;s just a way of earning extra cash off the mug punters.

They or you would never in a hundred years be told the day before if a gamble was on. A good trainer doesn’t even tell his staff if an owner is going for a touch. They don’t stop these horses either, they don’t have to they leave them short of work, they stop themselves.

A good trainer will tell you:- when you start paying the bills then you will be told.. There is more loyalty between owners, jockeys and trainers than you can imagine when something big is going down.

Stable lads are about as good tipsters as Tommo on a bad day. They are just hoping you will stick a few quid on for them and it wins. The less money they have the more BS they talk.

So where are they getting this amazing information, they ask you to pay for? It’s all guesswork.

How much of that crap does a horse inhail during a race?

They have no real interest in public health or the health of the horses.

Being the good old USA, they covering their back against getting sued in the future.

    Thank you guys.

I probably will refrain from having a punt at Ante post then to be honest.

Just thought there was a bit of value for a few of them running at Cheltenham, but the old addage of not knowing what happens with the horses between now and then is what puts you off.

After reading your post last night I went of to the pub. I was talking to my ex bookie (VERY VERY WEALTHY) friend about this very subject…thanks to you and too much beer I placed the biggest bet I have had for years

I have xxxxxx at 3/1 Kauto Star win Single for the King George and xxxxxx win single him winning the Gold Cup 7/2 I got inflated odds but had to put on an XXX,XXX double (twice the single stake) to get those odds.

In Short of he wins the gold cup I come out on top. Wins The King George I come out even. He wins them both I’m buying the horse

If you want an AP bet, do what I have done and bring me some luck.

Incidentally I retired to Thailand after making a very good living from betting national hunt horses (never bet seriously on the flat) and I have seen some great horses.

IMHO Kauto Star is the best horse I have seen in over 20 mabye even 40 years.

When 100% fit he absolutely oozes class and can do it at any distance.

I would rate him only behind Arkle, and put him on a par with greats like Persian War, Desert Orchid, Istabraq and the ill fated Killiney, even at this early stage of his career.

For me he is a much better Gold Cup horse than Dessie, is a more natural chaser than Dawn Run was, tougher than Pendil and a class above Best Mate, to mention a few.

I think you have named yourself after the only horse you should even contemplate backing ante post for anything.

Could it be I am biased?

Fair Along may not have everything his own way.. The second fav Saintsaire has started fav 8 times from his last 10 races and won only 3. They were all first time out and he is obviously best when fresh.

The 8 times a fav syndrome, could be the owner is a "Mad Punter or it could be the horse is more than useful and has dissapointed in the past

The bookies are out to lay this one and think an upset could be on the cards.

However, I think Fair Along has too much class and will end this horses first time out streak. The bookies are wishful thinking IMO, take the 5/4

The most important factor is without doubt the ground. You can have the best horse in the country who can quickly become a cart horse if the ground is against him.

Never bet a horse who hasn’t at least ran in the conditions he is running in on the day.

A good trainers won’t run a horse unless he gets the ground he likes but unfortunately owners want to see their horses run.

We the punters, blame the Jockey half the time, when if he had his own way the horse would have stayed at home.

Jonjo riding Lucky Bay in a big chase at Ayr. Can’t for the life of me remember the name of it.

Lucky Bay could be the laziest most ignorant SOB that ever ran in a race.

Jonjo turned him off completely and kidded him all the way to the line.

The thing is with the stewards, one time they can get it totally right and reverse the decision, yet the same thing can happen elsewhere and a total different outcome can happen. Bit like football referees i guess!

Almost but unlike football a Jockey is given the opportunity to defend himself.

If You got Perry Mason riding the horse that should have been disqualified chances are he will keep it. So you get inconsistency.

For years racing people have said it’s time to get real Stewards and not the stuck up toffs they have been employing for years.

Let’s face it who knows more about the problems that occur in racing, Johhny Fancome or someone like Julian Richmond-Watson.

There are not many Steward who have ridden up the Cheltenham Hill that’s for sure.

Ante post betting is a complete waste of time unless you know a horse will definitely run. Getting 25/1 about a horse that might be 5/1 if it runs, thats only got a 20/1 chance of winning is poor value.

I have to agree with you 100%, Ante Post is for a bit of fun and nothing else.

It’s worth the gamble, I suppose, if you know something about a horse not generally know to the public.

An ex- Malton Trainer set him self up when he was head lad at Easterby’s with an amazing 3 cross incluing the gold cup winner Little Owl at 33/1 and 2 others I can’t remember. Fantastic when it comes off.

You can never be sure what’s round the corner and anyone who gives you a tip more than 24 hours before a race is acting on a wing and a prayer. So it is a very big Gamble………anyone wanna give me 10/1 Kauto Star for the next gold cup I’ll take the chance though

I much prefer waiting to hear the horses blood count was ok and know he ate up in the morning……then if I am told to have a bet I am the first one down at the bookies for any AP prices that are going.
