Welcome, Barney.

The most ironic quote of all time. For the ‘real’ Barney consistency seems to be the least important factor.

October 11, 2007 at 20:01 #119052I’m confused, Pru. What does value mean?
October 11, 2007 at 20:06 #119053Hey Colin, thanks for the welcome.
DaveJohnson hello, I am new here.
I am the real Barney, I am assuming by your comments that may be reffering to my namesake Mr Curley.
I would point you in the direction of a horse of his "Cristoforo" which was "on occasion" highly consistent. One of two Curley horses I have backed over the years.
At a personal Level Curley has since 1996 secured funding and provided relief for many Zambesian projects and people, consistently putting in his own money and consistently encouraging others to do likewise.

Though hopefully without the tights
October 12, 2007 at 05:27 #119094quite easily the best racing book i have read was curleys autobiography. having only read what was said about him on tv and other media i had him down a rogue and a scoundrel, now i know better. he runs horses to make money (check out his record in 0-45 races!!!) chipmunk
November 5, 2007 at 19:45 #123087The most important factor is without doubt the ground. You can have the best horse in the country who can quickly become a cart horse if the ground is against him.
Never bet a horse who hasn’t at least ran in the conditions he is running in on the day.
A good trainers won’t run a horse unless he gets the ground he likes but unfortunately owners want to see their horses run.
We the punters, blame the Jockey half the time, when if he had his own way the horse would have stayed at home.
November 5, 2007 at 19:55 #123091Ok, i normally go for the form, what level it’s ran at, distance how many wins etc.
BUT i do have a penchant for horse that look at me in the parade ring. Swear one time at Wetherby the 33-1 outsider winked at me – well it only went and won! Seriously they know their stuff do horses
