    Sprinter Sacre anyone?

I was thinking this the other day, Would running the GC distance at a slower pace be more or less strain on his heart than the QM distance?

And as I have said on the other thread, Geraghty will surely ride Triolo :?

Indeed you are right Homer, it was in my mind that McCoy rode him last time, but obviously that was because of circumstances, lets just say I’m not having a good day.

You mentioned about McCoy riding one of the umpteen McManus horses, I Haven’t trawled through them horse by horse, but has he many that will get in or likely to run bar Colbert Station. Alfie Sherrin if a good few pull out maybe, and Lost Glory who needs fewer to come out, but I don’t see him running and certainly now winning.

I’m putting the blinkers on for the rest of today in case I take any more wrong courses.

Looks like it will be either Colbert Station or Cantlow (Not Sure of his plans?) Sunnyhill Boy will get in but it’s touch and go as to whether he’d be able to do the weights, he did the same weight on Alfie Sherrin at Cheltenham (Alfie Sherrin is entered but won’t get in). I imagine McLernon may well ride Sunnyhill having finished 2nd on him previously so in all probability he’ll end up on Colbert.

Probably best to hold out for some of the better offers nearer the day though.

Picking up the thread for the Gold Cup discussion, who will ride Tidal Bay?

Ruby and Daryl are out, Nick Scholfield probably has the ride on Teaforthree and Ryan Mahon might not be trusted with it (he did win over the fences on Rebel Rebellion, though).

I was thinking Harry Derham, obviously don’t think Nicholls would have a problem with it but possibly Wylie would. Could he still claim his 3 ?

Casey was unlucky in the Gold Cup so I suppose the owners could go for him?

G mentions McCoy in the other thread but i’d be astounded if he doesnt ride one of JP’s (Cantlow, Carlingford Lough, Colbert Station and even Quantitive and Sunnyhill he could just about do the weight he did a similar weight on Alfie Sherrin at the Festival) Theirs also Burton Port…

Ryan Mahon usually rides Sire Collognes not sure if he will run or not but that would book him up.

Surely Sam Twister will be given the thumbs up by his old man to jump off Same Difference and get on Tidal Bay? Ryan Hatch could possibly ride SD then.

Nicholls would still need a rider for Kauto Stone (Carberry has rode him a few times?) and also for Rocky Creek if they run?

    What will Fehily ride?

    Hypothetical question.

Could / Would one of the two Grand National hopefuls Long Run or Tidal Bay have won this?

Made the mistake a few years ago not backing the best horse in the race ‘Neptune Collognes’.

Having beaten Kauto and Denman to the Gold Cup crown surely

    Long Run

qualifies as the best horse in the race this year? A lot of the attention was on the latter two mentioned on that particular Gold Cup day and he kind of spoiled the party, the more the days tick on I get the feeling he could do the same again in April.

    20/1 sounds good to me.

Agree with you on Champagne darren,

I’ve backed him at 20s to fingers crossed he stays.

I’ve gone in on another one of Mullins Briar Hill for the World Hurdle at 12s.

I like the look of Taquin Du Seuil in the Ryanair at 10/1 to Connections know how to win this race having had Albertas Run win in the past. Has to be a possibility Dynaste will go for the Gold Cup which would make life easier although on the flip side Cue Card isn’t in the Ryanair betting as of yet if he didn’t stay on his first few runs next term I wouldn’t want to oppose him.

He’d need to find another two stone at least.

I know Mullins is good but blimey :!:

Don’t think the stewards are going to overturn the result but their is On His Own almost finding 2 Stone for you Mark

Will he go chasing? Surely the fly is past his best now, I suppose a lot will depend on how good Un De Sceaux is.

Gord: we had quite a few discussions about Jezki last year and McCoy very nearly chose him! Got him at 12s and also at 10s and 8s in doubles with Bobs Worth at 3s and Silviniaco Conti at 5s :-) gonna have to cover the bets with a win on the Lieutenant now!!

Yes your horse was over-priced today Gary,I’m glad you stayed loyal to a battler,I always thought he would be placed 3rd personally.Well done mate.I’ll get there yet with ‘MTOY’ in the Arkle next year at 20/1!!

20/1 for MTOY to win the Arkle is nearing on bet of the century stuff. You’d imagine Jezki will try to retain the crown so JP must send him chasing. I can’t think of any I’d be worried about, other than Annie Power but she could run in about 1 of 10 races next year!

    Winner looks special.

As an Irving backer was watching him closely, knew he wasn’t going to win after the first flight Scholfield never looked comfortable. Not sure if it was the big field or the fast pace that done him.

Sgt Reckless won me a few quid back running into 4th he could be an interesting one next year, flew home!!

I’ve backed The New One with Laddies, Money Back as a free bet if the Fly is first or second.

I’m tempted to have a bit E.W on Melodic to, I agree with Joe I think he will fly up the hill.

Could we see him over 3 miles next year?

Banking on Irving winning this, but at a bigger price I think Sgt Reckless could well run into a place.
