I know it’s 360 days away, but might we have seen the winner in the 5.40 at Kempton? West Wizard looked far better than anything that ran in the Champion Bumper.

16/1 with paddypower, may have to whack a bit on it!

I still like West Wizard for this, but also really like Regal Encore, was very impressed in the fashion in which he won his second start and his second behind Briar Hill is obviously good form. Or is there a chance Regal Encore will go for a different race?
October 5, 2013 at 12:13 #453659I loved Oscar Rock last season and will be following him this one. Might be better over more staying trips this year but he did show bags of speed and fellow Oscar’s Oscar Whisky and Rock On Ruby showed plenty over 2 miles.
October 5, 2013 at 14:02 #453682The newbury bumper Oscar Rock won was strong. Beat a newcomer in Gone Too Far and they pulled a mile clear. Gone Too Far has since won and is the best novice King has i think. A very distant third in that bumper ; O’Faolains Boy, since ran up a sequence before finishing 4th at the Festival in the 3 miler.
I would say that both seem more likely to be better over a little further.
October 5, 2013 at 15:53 #453705O’Faolains Boy always looked like a stayer though, particularly in testing conditions and with a PTP win under his belt.
Oscar Rock has more speedOctober 5, 2013 at 19:06 #453728Yes i agree. I’m pointing out that the front two pulled miles clear and are both very useful prospects.

Just seen Regal Encore is entered to race on the 12th October in a 2m4f hurdle, does this mean he could be sent to the neptune? I expect good things from this horse.
Could even potentially go down the Albert Bartlett route.
October 14, 2013 at 11:55 #454901West wizard given a form boost by the skyfarmer who he beat at kempton. The Skyfarmer won nicely at newton abbot by 3 lengths
November 7, 2013 at 02:16 #457493Doctor Harper looked mightily impressive yesterday. Pipe has a serious bunch of juvenile hurdlers, King’s Theatre, The Liquidator, Red Sherlock and Doctor Harper the stand out four.
November 13, 2013 at 14:28 #458173West Wizard entered at Cheltenham on Sunday. However good he might be it would surprise and disappoint me if Henderson pitched him in at this level on seasonal/hurdling debut. Add in that the stable are hardly pulling up any trees and he would be far better waiting for an ‘ordinary’ Newbury novice as I think most people expected. If he does run and gets blown apart Nicky will be giving the bookmakers an early Christmas present as I suspect West Wizard has been one of, if not the best backed ante-post for the Festival.

Think you’re correct in saying hes been the best backed ante-post horse! Gone from 20’s to 8’s without having his second run! Was very impressed with the way the Liquidator dominated on Sunday and the way in which he handled the track, he’s my horse for the Supreme.
November 25, 2013 at 13:30 #459748West Wizard failing to meet expectations today at 1-6 at Kempton. Another of Henderson’s which has travelled well enough but not finished their race like they normally do.
Looked a decent race though. Too early to dismiss it’s chances in March
November 25, 2013 at 13:54 #459751Bobs Worth tonked on Saturday and now this woeful performance. A very poor start to the season for Henderson. I think this was a pretty ordinary race and bookmakers must be laughing on two counts – supported in from 2/7 today and 8/1 for the Supreme. No price would be value now. Either something wrong with West Wizard or connections have seriously inflated his actual worth. If he had run like this against The Liqudator he would have been tailed off.
