I think you needn’t have bothered mate, think you’ve got a live one there and can’t see the Nicholls horse winning. All the best with him mate, I’m just gutted ‘the Lieutenant’ won’t take his place in the line up :(

Fingers crossed. I feel bad for you Boz, so cruel to have him pulled out at the last minute! I bet you’d rather he was withdrawn a couple of months ago so you wouldn’t have had all the build up that comes along with the festival, the ground would definitely have helped his chances too.

Only problem I have is I’m working during the race so don’t know whether to sh*t myself until I finish and watch it when I get in or whether to get a mate to text me the result, both are situations I don’t really want haha.

I think you did the right thing Ben, if Bobs Worth wins, the £112 is small beer and wont put a dent in your very nice trebles pot.

I’d be happy if Bobs Worth won for you and my two e/w’s come 2nd and 3rd. Good luck mate.

Bozlike, gutted for you mate, that’s a shocker. Are you putting in an alternative or just sitting this one out?

Just had to jump on the

    Bobs Worth

bandwagon G. Not a great deal of juice left in it but money’s money. Devastated about

    First Lieutenant

though. Really believed he finally deserved to take his chance on this ground. I guess now we’ll never know

He’d need to find another two stone at least.

I know Mullins is good but blimey :!:

Don’t think the stewards are going to overturn the result but their is On His Own almost finding 2 Stone for you Mark

As someone who had a few bob on the winner, i think he was lucky to keep it.

I’ve just rewatched the race. What happened to the three horses on the rails; they all jinked to the right as well? I’m sure I’ve never seen all of the horses at the end of the GC veer towards the middle/outside of the track. Most odd.

    I’m scoobied with that too.

    The head-on looked absolutely bizarre.

I’m impressed by The Giant Bolster’s run. At the end of the back straight all others seemed to travel very much easier than him.
Eventually, he is third. He is really, really tough.

Whatever the reason was they all headed right, I had a horrible 10 mins waiting to see if he was keeping the race. Hard to say if it was the right decision, I kind of think it was but if I had been on On His Own I would also feel a bit hard done by.

I, my good lady, my bank manager and my barman all would like to extend our gratitude to the Stewards :D (and most certainly Davy Russell also)

Very odd finish. It was as though those on the inside jumped the last onto soft ground and those on the outside landed on good.

Having taken the 55 when On His Own was supplemented, it was painful watching for me, especially given the race he ran in front for so long – a much improved horse. But to ask the stewards to take a Gold Cup away from anything, well it was never on. A lip-service Enquiry; it’s rare to see any result reversed these days, let alone The Gold Cup

Bobs Worth in particular seemed to take a wild swerve towards the rails.

Grand National two time failure On His Own seems to cast doubt over the quality of the form. Bobs Worth suffered the curse of the reigning champion that has prevailed so often with a winner who looks like they might win two or three in a row. Silvianaco Conti seems to continue defying his trainers claim that all he does is stay, with a marked weakening in the closing stages. Last Instalment was beat when he lost his jockey and perhaps conditions didn’t suit him today.

All in all I’m not overwhelmed by this renewal and it looks open for a new contender to emerge and claim next year’s crown, with Bobs Worth now a 10/1 shot for next year!

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I can imagine it was Joe, it really is a swings and roundabouts game this, coming out in my favour this time. I take it you had it each way which is some consolation at least.

I just heard that Davy Casey, on his riding of On His Own, has been banned for 7 days for over use of the whip and fined £1,300. When it’s not your day it’s not your day.

The finish was like a mad Class 6 scrimmage at Brighton in June.

    I had On His Own.

Earlier I had Apache Jack and before that Montbazon. I went through the Grand Annual form looking for decent weights. Got that wrong.

Rather a lot of work for what it gives back is Cheltenham. I’ve won more money more easily on a Thursday night at Wolverhampton. Fun moments though…
