What a ride! So pleased for him, and he must have enjoyed every furlong of that race. The hood transformed Uxizandre from an impossible ride into an armchair ride. I think that win tempted him a teeeeensy bit to think twice about his retirement……

Such a shame SS’s best days are behind him.i think Sire has more good races in him though, no reason to write him off.
I’m a huge fan of Sam Twiston-Davis though, so I was thrilled wuth the result! I thought I’d miss the race, because I’m in London but we just happened to be in the hotel room as the race was run! Brilliant :yahoo:

That’s a good point. We’ve got used to those four stalwarts of his yard dominating the big Cheltenham races for the past few years, so we assume he’s going to carry on with that success. Yes he’s got great saturday horses but no stars any more. Maybe we’re just expecting too much of him, and while he’d love a festival winner no doubt, his realistic aim is now those saturday races. Cheltenham is a bonus, not the main target.

It was a horrible fall, but added some drama to procedings. So pleased to see she got up ok, although you’d assume she’ll be feeling a bit battered and bruised, and may have had her confidence knocked. The way she attacked that hurdle she hadn’t a care in the world. It may take a while to bring her back to that level again imho.

I agree. Much as it’s nice to see what are probably the most deserving horses win,it’s the upsets and the smaller owner/trainers succeeding that make the festival so exciting.

You won’t be the only one laughing all the way to the Maldives (or wherever). You said lump on, and I didn’t lump on. Still, I’m enjoying my sticky bun….hey ho.

I don’t think L’ami Serge would ever have won, but yes, he was very badly hampered near the beginning of the race which knocked him out of his stride. He never got remotely close.

For what it’s worth, I fancy L’ami Serge. From the way he runs, I think he’ll fly on the better ground.

Putting your foot in a hole has got nothing to do with experience. It could happen to any horse. Better a flat race than the last race on the card being a chase or hurdle with even more opportunity for mishap. It was just a freak accident, nothing you could do to prevent it.

I’m in London for two days, so I’ve got no chance of missing the results :negative: I’ll only have to pick up a Metro on the underground…..

Good point. It’d put a damper on the whole thing if we had any fatalities. Here’s hoping……

Awful to see her trying to gallop on. Let’s hope she didn’t suffer too much.

Yeah that’s definitely an exciting one for me, as I’d imagine it is for most people. There’s part of me that will be thrilled if SS can spring back to his old form, but another part that would be jumping up and down if the Preston family havd another magical day. Mouthwatering stuff!

Apart ftom that, I’d love to see the Fly come home in front again (Corm, we need a ‘fingers crossed’ smilie!)

What’s always great about the festival is that the best moments will probably be unexpected ones. It’s exciting to know that the script hasn’t been written yet. Anything can happen :yahoo:
