Seedling is definitely growing on me…

As I said earlier Joe, the worry is if he plants himself at the start. They have put a bit of water on the track, so that’s a plus for him. My own feeling is he might still be a bit green and not be the best on show today, but that he’ll find a good pot somewhere in the future.

On a more serious note, I am a bit surprised to see Douvan at 9/4 this morning. As Jim McGrath said last Saturday, some judges see him as the “Second Coming”

Jimbo elaborated that he felt he was too short based on the bare form and that he had sided with L’Ami Serge, whom he believes has form that would probably win 3 out of 5 renewals of the race.

Douvan may well progress significantly from his last run but for me L’Ami Serge has already shown that he is very progressive and I got the impression there was more to come yet.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

For what it’s worth, I fancy L’ami Serge. From the way he runs, I think he’ll fly on the better ground.

I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...

In the end I missed the race because I was helping my Brother-In-Law get his gas switched on and his central heating boiler pressure sorted.

Tip:- Make sure it’s your gas meter you are fiddling around with. We were switching next door’s gas on and off. :rose:

Was L’Ami Serge unlucky? I read that he was hampered.

Good win for Douvan by the look of it and I note he’s 8/1 for next year’s Champion but is also prominent in The Arkle betting. A real embarrassment of riches for the stable.

As for Seedling, I am assuming he took one flight out by the roots, causing the unseat? Blooming ridiculous and no flower power today.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I don’t think L’ami Serge would ever have won, but yes, he was very badly hampered near the beginning of the race which knocked him out of his stride. He never got remotely close.

Thanks Burroughgill, I felt sure he’d go close today. Maybe he’s a mudlark.

They clocked a time almost 3.5 seconds faster than the Champion Hurdle, so they weren’t hanging around.

There’s just something of a cloud over the Henderson yard for me this week. I couldn’t be too confident for Sprinter Sacre’s prospects this week. Hope I am wrong though.

Time of the Champion is slower because Ruby slowed it down on Faugheen.

I’d be more concerned with Paul Nicholls form than Nicky Henderson.

Henderson had a second @ 9/1 (beaten on the nod) and a third @ 12/1 from six runners today, one was a faller, two were outsiders. With a good recent strike rate coming in to the Festival. imo Henderson is in good form.

Nicholls only had a fourth from four and that on Vibrato, arguably had form to do better. Other three disappointed to varying degrees (Black Thunder ran ok-ish). With a strike rate coming in to the race of below what you might expect from him. It’s not bad enough to say he’s in “poor form”, but it does not have to get much worse.

Lami serge with a better trip might have finished second or third. He didnt travel that well though.
